I unfortunately don't have any information for you. I just noticed tonight when looking through my tree that there was a tree match for Harriet Rolen, which I had previously was thought to be spelled 'Roland'. So I am apparently related to you via her and Hiram. :)

I've begun research on my fathers family. Seems that everything stops with William F Rolen, he was married to Victoria Bosic, and then Mary E. no known maiden name. Would love help with this. I did locate a William James Rolen and son Joab, but not sure about this part and how they fit in. Here's to meeting new cousins!!!

My Uncle Floyd Rolen now lives in Cyril, OK. If his is the same person - I am the oldest daughter of his brother Kenneth. Kenneth is deceased and is buried at Hobart, OK. The mother's name is Nelly and I think the father is Robert. Robert is buried at Hobart, OK. Floyd has 2 other brothers - Alvin and Carrol.
Both are deceased.

My grandfather was Willie Rolen and my dad is James E. Rolen who was named after I believe his grandfather, James Elton Rolen. The whole family is from Jones Cove in Sevierville, TN. Feel free to contact me if there is any information I can help with.

I am interested in finding William Rolen and your note on Sarah as possibly Joab's sister intriges me. The story of Joab's being orphaned with the McMahan's is on www.smokykin.com. It doesn't mention a sister. I've not found a Sarah in my research.

I am Joab's 3rd great granddaughter.

I see you posted this back in 2005, if you have found any additional information on James Rolen or his father William Rolen I would appreciate it if you'd point me in the right direction.

The Rolen relation (and researcher) from TN that you referred to is apparently Charles Owen Rolen, who lives near Nashville. I am descended from Zachariah Rolen's son Henry (b. 10 DEC 1827 AL), who married Lucinda E. Jones and moved to Winn Parish, LA. See the 1850 census for Pine Flat Beat, Dallas Co., AL on pg. 236, HH 35 for Zachariah's family. His name there is spelled 'Zechariah Rollins'.

Searching for information on Sarah J. Roland (different spellings as per the subject line - not very sure which one is correct). She was b. approx. 1846 in Indiana to a father who was of foreign birth, apparently England and mother not known. In 1862, she married John Froman in Kansas and they had one son, John W., born 12/1866. Her husband died in 1867/68 and she remarried in 1870 to Mark Orcutt. They moved to Michigan, where she had several children (Mark, Esther, Mary, Levi & Ira) and she died in 3/1885. I cannot seem to locate her prior to 1870 Census.

Sarah Rolen, born about 1785 in NC married Wilson Maples in Pendleton District, SC. She died in 1858 in Sevier Co., TN and is buried in McMahan Cemetery. I cannot find her family. I am wondering if she could have been a sister of Job Rolen and that they were separated after Joab's father died and he was left with the McMahan's?? Can you (or anyone) help with this line? I have much info on my Maples' but cannot seem to find anything on Sarah's family. Sevier County Heritage lists her as Sarah Crockett Rolen, sister to Davy, but have found nothing so far to support this.

The Rolens from Jones Cove, Sevier, Tennessee, are in my family.
I have records on Joab Rolen b: 7 Feb 1808 - d: 19 Apr 1895.
My records show he married Anna McMahan b: 27 Apr 1809 - d: 28 Jul 1900. Married in 1827.
I am at work, and don't have all of my info, but Anna's parents are Archibald MacMahan II, and E. J. Byrd.

Information is needed. This is what I know right now for this family.

My Grandfather is Floyd Ledel "Buddy" ROLEN b. 1929 in Minco, Oklahoma. His parents were Robert Edgar ROLEN b. 5 Jun 1905 place unknown and Nellie JONES, he says he thinks she was b. in Ada, OK. CHILDREN: Floyd b. Minco, OK., Carol/Carroll b. abt. 1932 d. Nov. 2003, Kenneth, and Alvin ROLEN all b. in Ada, OK.

Robert ROLEN's parents were Bob and Belle ROLEN. Belle's maiden name is unknown, as he couldn't remember.

If any ROLEN family researchers happen across any of these names in their research, please let me know. I'm just starting researching this line and would appreciate any information you can share.

I am tracing Rolen ancestry and have gotten back to a Joab Rolen (1808-1895) whose parents were James Rolen and Sally Smith. The only info I can find is that james Rolen died in 1813, and his father was William Rolen (unknown spouse or birthday) All living in Sevier County TN area.

Rolen if i'm correct he died in 1947 in mammoth springs arkansas ( I think). I know that he lived in Mammoth springs Arkansas in 1943. I'm stumped.
