My grandmother was Gwendolyn Alice Rolland. Her mother was Cora Murden married to Carrol Rolland, they had 2 sons also: Melvin & Carlton Rolland. Cora's parents were Alice & Peter Murden. *From what we understood Cora had a boarding house in Ocean View, Va. & Carrol was a steam ship mechanic.

Gwendolyn married: Larkin Washington Singhass. They has one son, Dale Rolland Singhass married to Mary Benton, 3 children, Janice, Dalene, Hollie.

What information can you give me regarding the Murden family. Where are they from? I would appreciate know more about the family lineage if you have the history. Thanks you very much! I have several pictures of Cora to share and many of my grandmother Gwen. She passed approx. 14 yrs ago. She was a beautiful woman.

We know Ralphs mother was a McKay but cannot get the Rolland thread. If anyone has any information please let me know. Thx Thx and Thx again

Looking for further info on the family of Thomas Rolland and Celina Caron (Carrow), believe they married about 1873/74 probably in Troy Vermont? Children born at Troy VT are:

~Lillian ROLLINS b. March 1, 1875
~Celia ROLLINS b. March , 1877
~Louisa ROLLINS b. April, 1879
~Nelson Thomas ROLLAND 6 April 1881

Other children probably born Eastman PQ:
~Frederick M. ROLLAND born 27 Aug 1893
~Eleonore ROLLAND born about 1885?

Believe that Thomas Rolland died between 1901 and 1911 - Eastman PQ? Celina Caron Rolland lived with her daughter, Lillian Rolland Menard, at Eastman PQ - hoping to find Celina's death or burial record.

Janice
Re: Louis W. Rolland Ohio

I just called my mom and left a message to get more info for you on that line from Louis Rolland. I am descended from Thomas Sheridan Rolland, who was an older brother to Louis and Chester. He was born in 1898, and was actually unofficially adopted by Peter Rolland after he married Julia Linder. She was widowed with 2 young children - her first born was a girl, born Hazel Plant (Called Dolly) who was killed in an auto accident in the early 1900's. My grandfather was born Thomas Sheridan Plant, his birth certificate from New York City listed his father as a James Plant, age 59, born in Ireland; and his mother (our common ancestor) as Julia Linder age 19, born in Maryland.
According to the oral history my mom and I gathered at the old family reunions back in the '70's, Julia was married off in her teens(16) to an old Irishman who was a mean drunk. They had the 2 children and then he died. She then married Peter Rolland (from Blackrock Canada I think), which was more a love match. They had ten more children together, all of them together were referred to as the dirty dozen according to my dad.
So it would seem we're half cousins several times removed.

Louis worked on the railroad all his life (NYCRR) as did Peter Rolland his father, and my grandfather Thomas Sheridan. Louis at one point was Superintendant of engineers for northern Ohio - which was pretty important position. He was selected in 1976 just before his retirement, to run a special train- I think it was the "spirit of 76" or something like that, from Buffalo, NY to Cleveland. He was the nicest man you'd ever want to meet and a good Christian- he was a deacon at our church I grew up in Euclid Nottingham Baptist Church in Euclid Ohio.

If you're interested in any info on my grand father's (Thomas Sheridan Rolland) descendants let me know. Contact me at tcrolland@hotmail.com
-as soon as I can get info from my mom on Louis' info I'll pass it on to you.
Thomas C. Rolland

Pete,
My mom called back with some info. Louis and Wilma had 2 daughters circa 1920's. One, (she has forgotten her name) was mentally retarded and was placed in a home for most of her life. The other was Alva, who married a George Parcher. They had 2 children Donna Jean Parcher married to Tim Smelzer (schmelzer? can't remember how its spelled). They also attended our same church while I was growing up, they were married in 1968. Their address is :
9114 Old Eight Rd.
Northfield Center, OH 44067
I believe they are part time missionaries but should be home for the holidays if you want to contact them for mor info than I have for you. I believe they have 2 sons (Tim Jr. and Beauregard) and are now grandparents themselves.

The other child was George, but he was called Rolly- not sure if his middle name is Rolland or not. Last I knew he lived in Springfield Ohio area. You would need to contact Donna for more info on that side of the family. Hope this helps you out.

Do you have any info on JULIA LINDER? I think her father's name was August Linder but I know very little else.
-Tom Rolland

Searching for information on Sarah J. Roland (different spellings as per the subject line - not very sure which one is correct). She was b. approx. 1846 in Indiana to a father who was of foreign birth, apparently England and mother not known. In 1862, she married John Froman in Kansas and they had one son, John W., born 12/1866. Her husband died in 1867/68 and she remarried in 1870 to Mark Orcutt. They moved to Michigan, where she had several children (Mark, Esther, Mary, Levi & Ira) and she died in 3/1885. I cannot seem to locate her prior to 1870 Census.

Looking for a lady possibly named "Del" who was a singer and dancer in the 1800's. Don't know if Del is her real name or not. Her father was a Rolland. She had one son , not sure if she raised him. His name was " Morris". He lived in Oregon, his last name may have been Tabor,Taber. She would have been born about 1836, her mother died when she was young, but I believe she may have had a sister ( possibly half sister). She would have been born either in France or Pennsylvannia. Leaning more to France. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Linda,
I am so sorry , but I am not sure what question I asked you. I think I found these names on my aunts notes. Let me explain who I am in case I haven't done that. My mom is Oteka Jane Whiteman, her mom was Florence Gertrude Rolland, Florence's dad was Adron Rolland, LB Rolland was Adron's dad. I guess that would make LB Rolland my gggreatgrandfather. Do you have any more info on where this line leads after that? Please email me direct at rayandsue@blackfoot.net. Do you know my mom? She lives in MT. Thanks for any response
Susan
