Hello. Do you know if any of this Roma family moved from Nova Scotia to the Portland, Maine area? My Grandfather, John Roma, was born in Portland in 1919. I know his mother, but have no idea who his father was. Susan

Roma Family in Portland, Maine originally from Halifax,NS, Canada

Hello. My Grandfather was John Elmer Roma born 13 Mar 1919 in Portland, Maine. His mother was Ethel Jane Stiles Roma originally of Pictou, NS,Canada. She arrived in the US in 1915. She married John Philip Roma soon after. He died in the influenzae outbreak either 1919 or 1920 in South Portland ,Maine. I know that John the father came from a very large family, about 21 children. He had an older sister, Irene who also died of influenzae at the same time. Family Search has him born about 1889. I am looking for any connection to him or his family He doesn't appear in any Census, Canada or US. All I have is his name on my Grandfather's birth certificate and a couple of addresses where he lived in Portland,Maine. No marriage or death certificates. Any help would be appreciated. Susan

My Great Grandmother was Maria Roma who married my Great Grandfather Rafaello Pasquinucci. I don't know if this will help. I know she was a Portegue from the "homeland". They had one child Emily and made their home here in Sausalito California. Might be a stretch but, that's all I know

Jay or John Roma in Ocala in '77 now possibly in Mass.

I am searching desperately for my father. All I know about him is that my mother (maiden name Lynn Shelley or Lynn Dail) had a casual relationship with him around May of 1977. They were both employed by Days Inn on West HWY 40 in Ocala, FL. The relationship ended when my mother moved to Tennesee and my father supposedly moved to Boston Mass. Upon moving to TN, my mother discovered she was pregnant with me and was unable to contact my father. Apparently no information was given as he was known as a "wanderer". I am now 24 years old and am married and have had 3 children. A 4 year old, Brandon, a 2 and a half month old Seth, who died suddenly in 1999 and Zachary, now age 3 months. I want to meet my father if nothing more than to just see what he looks like. I have never seen one picture and no almost nothing about him. PLEASE HELP. Please email me at BeeZeeGirl78@aol.com

some history on my relatives

my grandfather - Louis Anthony Roma - came here from Avellino, Italy with his parents Gaetano Mary (Terlizzi) Roma in either 1902 or 1903 and immigrated thru Philadelphia, PA. they settled in or around a town called Rosetta, PA. When He cam here he was 1 years old he was a twin however the other twin a boy died before coming to the US,he had two sisters Lucy Rose, both older, and two older brothers, John Michael. However as time went ont they moved to Newark, NJ as teenagers with their parents. My grandfather later married Margaret Pizza - her family was from San Fele in the Potenza province of Italy. They had 7 children and I am one of theri grandchildren. Also it appears heart problems run in the Roma family usually in the men and they tend to die young early to mid 50's. My father was Louis Anthony Roma, Jr died at age 51 from a heart attack and my brother was Louis Anthony Roma, III he died young also aage 35 however he developed cancer-which appears to be on the Pizza side. Also in the mid-1950's the Pizza family, living in New jersey, changed there name legally to Pezza. My grandmother always talked about relatives in PA and NY who were her father-in-laws brothers and cousins.

Maybe we have a connection thru those links.

Also some of the common and often repeated names in my family are:
Louis
Gaetano
Robert
Richard
Anthony
Marie
Angela
Joanne
Michael
John
Joseph
