Root - Roots Surname PROJECT

 Root - Roots Surname PROJECT

Website:
worldfamilies.net/surnames/r/root/

Description:
The Root - Roots Family Project is open to all who are interested in working together to find their common heritage through sharing of information and dna testing. All variant spellings are welcome. If your Surname is missing and should be included, we'll be glad to add it. Please visit our website and add your family to the Patriarch Page.

Surnames in Project:
Root, Roote, Rootes, Roots, Route

Requirements:

A Surname Project traces members of a family that share a common surname. Since surnames are passed down from father to son like the Y-chromosome, this test is for males taking a Y-DNA test. Females do not carry their father's Y-DNA and acquire a new surname by way of marriage, so the tested individual must be a male that wants to check his direct paternal line (father's father's father's...) with a Y-DNA12, Y-DNA37, or Y-DNA67 marker test. Females who would like to check their direct paternal line can have a male relative with this surname order a Y-DNA test. Females can also order an mtDNA test for themselves such as the mtDNA or the mtDNAPlus test and participate in an mtDNA project.

Questions?
Not sure if this is a situation that applies to you? Want to obtain additional information? Contact the Root - Roots Group Administrator at dna.roots@gmail.com

My branch of Roots family has been based in and around Aston, Birmingham since 1840s It is likely that for at least for 120 years we were the main or only Roots family in Birmingham. (Most Roots seem to in SE around London / Kent) However I can,t trace the exact origins of this branch other than it was Henry Roots (b.c1820) and Mary Ross who married in around 1844, she was from Redditch but he was from Oxfordshire ?

Malinda m. Raymond Seymour

I'm looking for the family of Melinda/Malinda Root. She was the first wife of my grandfather Raymond Aaron Thomas Seymour from PA. They were married and then I believe they divorced by 1930. It is unknown whether or not they had any children. Raymond then remarried my grandmother Sarah Maurer. When he was young my grandfather ran away from the orphanage he was in and went to work for a traveling circus. We believe he may have met Malinda while working for the circus. Untill recently all we've had was an old photo of Malinda but no name. If you're searching for Raymond and any of this sounds familiar please feel free to contact me.
