Realize you wrote your posting in 2001 but am hoping this will reach you. I too am searching for a Charles Perry Roselle. Just recently found my birth parents names (I was put up for adoption at birth). The Charles Roselle I am looking for was born in October and served in the Army. I do not have many details on him.
Thank you.

Could you tell me what you know about him or his family, where and when you were born, or any other information that would be helpful.
Thank you, and I'll be in touch after your reply.

Well, it looks like the Charles Roselle you're looking for is the one I know, since all of your details are correct except one. However, I'd still like to know if he even knows that he has another son/daughter out there before contacting him. Could you tell me where you were born and your birth mother's name and where she lived when she knew Charles. Have you made contact with her, and where did you get the information about Charles that you have?
You don't know me, but if he really is your father, you can trust me to do the right thing.

My Dad was a very interesting and creative man, but was not very forthcoming with information and he did not stay in touch with Josephine or that side of the family. It was not a friendly divorce. The cairn terrier noted in the obituary was part of the divorce settlement and he lived to be 16--with us. I will ask my brother to see if he knows anything. He visited the University of Illinois library in Chicago and found quite a bit of information. I'll get back to you. Betsy

I do now have the obit printed out.

Still need to find out where/when Josephine died. Do you know?

Thanks again for responding and leading me to the obit. Your father was one busy man, wasn't he? How did he ever find time to do it all?

Hello,
I just stumbled upon your post. I am A.C. Roselle's daughter by his second marriage. You will find his obituary at the following website:
http://www.almanacnews.com/morgue/2000/2000_11_01.obit01.htm...
His marriage to Josephine lasted 13 years with no children. He met my mother, Ann Peck, shortly after the divorce and they married on Christmas day 1945 and were married for 55 years. He died 10/17/00 and she died 11/25/08. His career is detailed in the obituary.

Aubrey C. Roselle (1908-2000): Need obit

Is anyone familiar with an Aubrey Clayton Roselle? He was born in MO 1908; died in Portola Valley, San Mateo, CA in 2000. I have been trying to find an obit for him with no success; have been hoping to see what became of the companionage marriage of him and Josephine Wettstein aka Haldeman-Julius in Kansas, 1927. When I could track them on census, the moved around a lot and legend is that they did the vaudeville circuit - I do have a (newspaper) photograph of Josephine on stage at one point in her/their lives. He is listed in the US Public Records in CA but of course, with the usual errors: he died in 2000 at age 91 (SSDI) but these records that came from ????? show him to still be currently living, age 98; so much mis-information to be found on internet. Where does this stuff come from? Maybe someone of Roselle ancestry is connected to Aubrey?

I will email you with my adress as soon as I finish this message . I think the public record was under the Roselle name due to the fact that Her husband was overcome with the loss......they had not been married more than 2 years, with .Ella becoming pregnant quickly and never recovering from delivery. The 1900 cencus lists Mary and Delia as living with them. I assume they were there to care for Ella and the baby. I imagine Mary had to attend to details after her daughter's death. To her Mother she would be Ella Roselle always! Mary was 67 at the time. I'm quessing.......but I think it's a pretty good guess.

I am so glad to have found you! I have been trying to locate family members. I am Ella's Great Granduaghter. My father's father, Ferris A. Hill, was her only child. She never recovered from a difficult birth, and died when Ferris was 1 yr. old. Ferris was raised by his father's sister, Carrie Hill Bower. He was a Bower from then,1901? Albert L. Hill was Ella's husband. I just found the little family on the 1900 Mich. cencus under the name Hilt! (A cencus taker with poor hearing!) I found a public record of Ella's death in 1901 under her maiden name, Ella B. Roselle. I am hoping to find more out about her! She has been lost to my family. No one even knew her name until I found a small engraved wedding invitation among some of Carrie Bower's archives. My father, John w. Bower, was her only grandchild, and I am her only grt. grd. daughter. I have a small photo that my grandfather kept of his Mother. I was always told that I was the "spitting image" of her. She had red hair, and I do as well. Now I have two redheads, 4 children in all, and they know exactly where the red hair came from, and her name was Ella Roselle Hill!!! Any help is wonderful,.......Rebecca (Hill) Bower Kramer

I am planning a trip to Chateau Du Rozel in Le Manche, Normandy, France in on March 31, 2006 and will be staying at the castle for a few days. All of the internet research I've done so far very loosely ties the American Roselles (and various spellings) to the town. My Rosell line stops with Benjamin Franklin Rosell, b. 1821 in Steuben Co., NY and then I hit a brick wall. Since my French is limited, and the Google translation system leaves much to be desired, does anyone have some thoughts on what kind of research I should do while I'm there?

Hi Teri, Sorry I haven't had a chance to get back with you on mailing the photo's of Marion and your family. As you may remember I was in the middle of moving and have just recently come across the photos. I also have photo's of your great-grandfather Antonio Roselli and great-grandmother Sarah. Antonio was born in Italy, I have his military discharge papers and his mother Maria's birth record. My father past away recently and I got to see only one of your mothers sisters, the rest of the family is kind of spread out now. I think one of your uncles has moved to California. I don't have Aunt Marions or Uncle Varniums death certificates so I can't give you copies of that but if I can help you get anything here in Michigan just ask. I will upload some of the photo's to snapfish and email access to you for them, you can download them or order prints from there.

roselle nj

From the history of Roselle: Roselle Park's initial surge of residential and commercial development can be traced to the installment of railroads throughout the community. The Central, Lehigh Valley and Rahway Valley lines long served the commuting population. In 1839, the first railroad began regular routes from Elizabethtown to Plainfield, and soon a stop at Mulford Station, named in honor of a prominent family, was scheduled, where Union Road crossed the tracks to Roselle. The stop was moved to Chestnut Street about 30 years later and named Roselle in honor of the railroad president's good friend, John Pierre Roselle.

I descend directly from John Pierre, but can't connect him to a spouse or other family. Hope this helps.

My email address is dvanpaml@msn.com, I will email you with more information if you like.

I don't remember if we have corresponded before, Diana. I'm getting a bit confused between all the boards for the study of our family history, each based on a different spelling. I am descended from the Rozelles that came from Ohio to Indiana and have spent a couple decades studying them. If we have not already communicated and you would like to share information, e-mail me at mrozelle@rozellefinancial.com.
Looking for info on my great grandparents. My mother used to speak of her "Grandma Roselle." My mother grew up in Jackson County, Michigan.
