My name is Maureen (Populo) Barcheski. My father was Joseph E Populo whose mother was Eleanor Rosenwald Populo. She is one of the children of John Rosenwald and I have been researching our family history for years. Unfortunately, my mom focused on my dad's father surname of POPULO but I have actually found more info on ROSENWALD. My dad always claimed that both his grandmothers (Margaret BARIE Rosenwald & Margaret RICE Populo were of IRISH decent but I have been unable to prove. Also, ROSENWALD may be a JEWISH heritage rather than GERMAN even though the family may have lived in Germany. If you can help in any way please contact me ASAP.

Has ANYONE found a copy of the published "Rosenwald Family Tree" or knows who wrote it. Someone has to know something!!!!!! Is it on the Bendix Rosenwald tree, available on line? Some time ago I was given a copy of the Rosenwalds from Sweden.He was the Great-grandfather of the Rosenwald brothers; John, Fred, Audust,Henry and a sister Minnie. HIS SON WHO WAS NAMED jACOB, IS THE GRANDFATHER OF THESE BROTHERS AND SISTER, his name has been lost. Is this the tree everyone is looking for??

I may have some information. That Catherine (Katie) Rosenwald was married to Patton, Katie was the daughter of John Lawrence Rosenwald and Margaret Barie.Katie was the sister of my grandfather Frank Rosenwald.

I have a map and photographs of this cemetery and know exactly where John and Margaret are buried, and familiar with the large cross in the center. I have the map at home... I would be interested to see any of the documents you have, as I have never seen any records on Anton or Rose. The records I have indicate John was born in Chicago, but I don't have anything linking John to his parents, so I am very interested in that. Hello Frank, I have new information to pass along. First, I found corrections through the marriage record for William Rosenwald (my g-grandad) that Rose's last name was Getner, not Bulchka. Second there are records in Quebec Canada where Anton and Rose came into the port of Quebec in 1865. I don't know if they met on the boat comming over from Germany or if they met in Quebec. There is also a record of them getting married in Quebec,(Quebec vital and church records, Drouin collection )According to Acestry. I don't have World Ancestry so I haven't looked it up yet. I don't know where they were from 1866-1873. In 1874 and 1875 they showed up in the Cleveland city directory, (according to Footnote.) He was listed as a farmer. I can only guess that you are correct and they lived in Chicago. I can not get any proof of this, but it fits. I also don't know where they lived from 1876-1879. They start on the Pennsylvania census records in 1880. I also found that Anton and Rose are in unmarked graves in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetaty, McKees Rocks Pa. I contacted the Church and they sent me a plot map where they are burried.(section C lot #10) For anyone that knows this cemetary, it is up close to the large cross at the top of the cemetary. There are many unmarked graves in this section and I am wondering if this is where other Rosenwalds are burried?

John Lawrence Rosenwald-father of Frank Rosenwald who was father of John George Rosenwald: John George is my father. My grandfather Frank and your grandmother Dorothy were siblings. I also heard a family rumor that John Lawrence spoke 7 languages, unconfirmed. I have the name Margaret and the name Katharine Kyar off of Margaret's death certificate, which I will send you with some other documents. The information I got from Patty (?) Rosenwald was the most helpful. She had information on Anton Rosenwald, John's father. She sent me everything she found in her family's bibles (I have the copies if you'd like them)and all the research she has done on our family. As far as I can tell, John was born in Chicago (I have yet to find anything contradicting that). The info Patty gave me says that John is the son of Anton Rosenwald (Von Volt) and Rose Boulchka, Both born in Germany. The story is that Anton was a doctor in Germany and had to leave in the middle of the night to come to America to escape some calamity. I believe they are buried in McKees Rocks.

As for Mary Barie, I got that name from my grndmother's (Dorothy Rosenwald) SS application. As you know, their marriage certificate shows that her name was Mary M Barie, and her dad's name was Frank Barie. Well, the baptismal records I received has her name as Margaretha M Barie, with dad's name as Franciscus Barie. The baptismal records have different name for her mom...Catherina Cajar, Katarina Kaher, Catherine Kahar, so I wasn't sure what the real name was. The Baptismal record showed that Catharina was born in Pittsburgh, but not much beyond that.

I believe your dad is who my dad (and subsequently...I) was named after.

If you give me your address, or email, I'll give you everyting I have. In the reply threads on my original query, there's a Patty Rosenwald listed. she has the bulk of the info on the McKees Rocks Rosenwalds.

Do you think you could send me a copy of Mary's death certificate? I think I might be able to get somewhere, now that I have a better idea of her mother's actual last name. If you want to email it: jaybopp325@comcast.net.

Frank, John Lawrence Rosenwald is also my great grandfather, and I have similar records. Also looking for info on Margaret M. (also known as Mary M.) Barie. John's son Frank was my grandfather, so we are cousins. I also have difficulty getting father than John because of the fire, but his records indicate parents were German immigrants. I have no info on them. I have Mary/Margaret barie's death certificate indicating her mother's name was Katharine Kyar. I also have a copy of John and Mary's marriage license- her father being Frank Barie. have you found anything since 2006? Love to hear from you!

Robert Rickerd & Lafavor Rosenwald Rickerd were my grandparents. I know for a fact they are buried at Mt. Calvary in McKees Rocks. If I can find their marker numbers, I will send that info to you. I have requested photos of their gravestones through www.findagrave.com. I have photos of my grandfather's at home somewhere but not my grandmother's.

I have Anton on census back to 1880 in Shaler Twp. Allegheny Co.Pa. His name was misspelled as Antonie Rosenfeld. It shows John,13,as being born in Pa. However, I have been working many VERY hard hours to locate Anton in his earlier years in Pennsylvania and have had no luck so far. I am beginning to believe that Anton and Julius Rosenwald, of Chicago, were cousins. My grandparents have told me over and over that they were related but couldn't remember how. Maybe I need to start looking in the Chicago area. Anton and Rose were married around 1865 and I know not where. They are both burried at Saint Mary's Cemetery in McKees Rocks Pa. To anyone familiar with this cemetery as I am, you will find them burried in an unmarked grave, in the old section at the top of the hill by the large cross. They are in section c, lot 10. It has also taken a long time to locate this grave. Please keep in touch with any updates. I don't even know where to begin looking in the Chicago area or any back information on the history such as fires and when they were.

My great grandfather, John Rosewald, was born in Chicago, and was the son of Anton Rosenwald. I do not have his birth certificate (great fire), but all records (census, etc..) show his birthplace as Chicago.

I hope you can help me with finding information and if possible relatives of Ruth F. Rosenwald. I am trying to locate living relatives of Richard A. Wertheim, a KIA WWII soldier, now buried at the overseas American War Cemetery Ardennes in Belgium. I am living in the Netherlands and I have adopted his grave. The reason that I am looking for family members is that I would like to learn more about Richard Wertheim.

Ruth F. Rosenwald is one of his sisters. Though I am not sure that I have the correct Ruth Rosenwald. We found a Ruth F. Rosenwald who died in Lakehurst, New Jersey at 19 Jul 1997 and I have just read here on the forums that there is another Ruth F. Rosenwald who died in San Diego and was born in Detroit, but she is probably the wrong one, as the Wertheim family lived before the war in Brooklyn, New York.

I hope that anyone could help me with information about Ruth F. Rosenwald who died in Lakehurst, New Jersey. I would appreciate it very much!

I have a Rosenwald that married into my family. George Frederick Rosenwald, born 05-26-1901 in Lac Qui Parle County, MN. He married my distant cousin Rose Ahlquist in 1927. They had 6 kids together and lived in St. Paul, MN.

Thank you for the information and pictures. Do you think Aton went to Chicago to live before he ended up in PA.. My mom told me that the Rosenwald were Jewish, and when they went to PA. there were only a few Jewish family so they became catholic. However because they had been jewish some of the churches would not permit then to be burried in their cemetary.Ido know that Uncle Andy did spend a little time in jail. Also - what part of Pennsylvania? my great grandfather John Rosenwald was born in Chicago, then moved to McKees Rocks Pa (Pittsburgh), where he married Mary M Barie in 1889. they had a daughter Dorothy, my grandmother, who married John Bopp. I have census info if you're interested. John Rosenwald from Chicago

John Rosenwald was my great grandfather born Jan 26, 1867 in Chicago. He married Mary M Barie in 1889 in Allegheny City, PA (Old North Side Pittsburgh). I know that her Father's name was Frank Barie, thanks to the copies of marriage records I got from Pittsburgh. Their Daughter, Dorothy B Rosenwald Married John Bopp around 1943 and my father Frank Bopp was born in 1946 in McKees Rocks, Pa. The trouble I'm having is tracing back any further from John Rosenwald, thanks in no small part to the Chicago fire of 1870. If anyone can help me with this, it would be a great help.
Also, i have census info and other records if anyone needs them.

Robert Rosenwald was my father's cousin. My dad's (Frank Bopp) mother was Dorothy Rosenwald from McKees Rocks. She married John Bopp, Sr. in about 1943 in McKees Rocks. I have a lot of census and other information on the Rosenwalds in the area. The first of this line to get to McKees Rocks was John Rosenwald who was born in Chicago.
