Charles Henry Rowe

Trying to find descendents of Charles Henry Rowe and Reba Ellen Rowe (nee:white)/step father's last name may have been Arp. They had a daughter, Barbara Ann White who married a Marshall in Tennessee. Barbara may have married a Barnes in the 60's. Believe the Rowe's were in TN also but at time of her death she was from Waterboro, SC. Would like to find whereabouts of Bobby Gene Marshall (Barnes)born around 1956 in Marysville, Blout, TN and his sister Susan Ellen Marshall (Barnes) born in El Paso Tx in 1957. Believe they were adopted by a Barnes...possibly Robert Eugene Barnes. Susan's married name might have been Willis. Please if anyone knows about this family...especially Bobby and Susan please let me know. Would really like to locate them. Thanks

My descendants are fro Allen Jackson Rowe of Meriwether County. My Grandfather is Lewis Allen Rowe who is one of the Rowe's that moved to Texas. GTT. "Gone to Texas". I believe they are descendants of William Rowe & Mary Brough. - Virginia. I know that many Rowe's immigrated to New England. John Rowe was involved in the Boston Tea Party. He profited from the Tea Party but was not in the war. I have visited Rowe's Wharf in Boston a famous landmark and tourist attraction. What was the families reason for leaving England and coming to the New World? Politcal, religious, or financial. Interesting to find out.

I am a descendant of Jesse Joe Rowe. His father was Lewis Allen Rowe who moved to Texas from Meriwether County. His father was Allen Jackson Rowe and his father was James Rowe. My tree goes all the way back to England. Sounds like we are connected. I have so many questions. I find an answer to one and it creates more questions. I am enjoying the search. I do have one question that you may have an answer to. On one of the Rowe plantation a women slave drown a set of twins in a pond on the property. Do you know anything about that. This story was related to me by my Mother. I don't know what generation this event happened. Do you know anything about it?

Yes. Ebenezer is my great, great, great, great grandfather. I have traced the Rowe's back to John Rowe of Lamerton England where the Rowe family home is named Great Haye. The land was given to Sir Everhard de Rowe by King Richard I (the Lion -Hearted) after he was knighted for his bravery in the Holy Wars. That is as far back as I could go.

You can click on my family tree to see the lines.

Good luck!

Courtney

I know your post is old, but I just saw it. My great-great-great-great-great grandfather was William Stewart of Rhinebeck New York. He was born Jun 24, 1738 and died March 10, 1788. He was married to Catherine Rowe who was born in 1751 in Milan New York and died Feb 16, 1844. My records indicate William was born in Scotland. He was a captain in the Patriotic Services and was an adjunct to Cols. Petrus Ten Broeck and Morris Graham. He was a delegate to the provisional convention for the Northeast Precinct of Dutchess County and signed the Articles of Association on July 5, 1775. Below is a link to a Google ebook entitled Calendar of Historical Manuscripts Relating to the War of the Revolution. I don't know if the link will work, but just Google the title. I believe it has to be the same person. My records are connected to William and Catherine's daughter Catherine Stewart as she is my bloodline. I have no information as to William and Catherine's other children. Interesting that I have a Will and Kate in my family tree! I hope this helps you.

http://books.google.com/ebooks/reader?id=jF1AAAAAYAAJ&pr...

Sorry, but I don't recognize either of those names. I am 64 (will be 65 later this year) and my great grandfather, Grant Ulysses Rowe, was born in 1865. From everything I can find he is the first in the family to add the "e" on the end of our name. Prior to that the family men were all surnamed Row.

The oldest I can find is John Row (1785 ~ 1852). He had a son (Grant's father) also named John Rowe (1827 ~ 1896). The elder John Row was married twice and had 12 children (6 by each wife) but I have only been able to chase my direct line back to him. There may be a relationship between me and Theadore Beldon Rowe through one of the other 11 children. Most of the children settled in central Ohio in Knox or Licking counties. If Theadore has a central Ohio connection let me know. I have grave photos of some Row and Rowe people I don't know. Hee may be one of them. The graves are in or near Homor, Ohio.

Good luck in your search.

John F.
I'm not sure, but I don't think we are from that particular branch of the Rowe family. We didn't add the "e" on the end of our name until about 1865. I do have kin from Virginia, but they were from western Virginia in and around Wythe County.

I don't recall ever seeing either of those photos before, but they sure look cool.

If I ever find a link I'll be happy to share with you.

Good luck with your search.

John F.
I am also searching Rowe, Chandler, and Dobson. I have a copy of a photo I have been trying for 30+ years to find the original of and believe it was the property of a William Rowe in Gloucester, which was given to my brother Arthur L Manning. (He got the photocopy) Any idea who might have the original of this? I'd love to see it. Many thanks. See the top picture.
