Hi Simon,

Possibly not what you were expecting to find, and not very clear. Go to Trove newspapers website and search for Myra Alice Retell. The article titled "HOOKED DOUBLE-HEADER AT MANDURAH" (Mirror (Perth, WA : 1921 - 1956), Saturday 9 October 1948, page 7) has a photo of Myra.

On the left of the page you can click on "JPEG" and save the article, then just cut the photo from the article yourself. You can also purchase a better quality image from the National Library.

Cheers,

Debra

Perhaps we could exchange copies of the documents we both have.
Karen and Pam

Hi,
Nice to hear from you. I am the great great great granddaughter of Thomas Rumball who married Eleanor Waller in Edmonton. She is his second wife but I descend from his first wife Susannah Wesley. They were married in London in 1760. My great great grandfather Thomas, born in 1761, who married Mary Stace, his first wife in Edmonton, later married Mary Ann Rogers in 1824 in London. I descend from this marriage and their son Charles born Nov 9 1825 in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France.
Many Rumballs are buried in Edmonton, including Mary Stace Rumball, Eleanor Waller Rumball, his sister Elizabeth Rumball Whitehead, his grandson Thomas Rumball and his wife Eliza and at least three of his grandson's children who died in an epidemic it would seem. There are other Rumballs buried there but I do not know if they are related to me.

Do you have a birth/ Christening record for Thomas born about 1727, the one who married Eleanor or any other leads to a possible birthplace? The inscriptions would be interesting to see, perhaps they wil provide some clues, thank you. There were Rumballs in Enfield who married in St. Andrews but I do not know if they are related.

Hitchin Records: In my search for Thomas Rumball's birth,I found a Thomas Rumball, christened June 30 1727, son of Thos and Ann. This child died May 13 1729 and so he was eliminated. His father was a cordwainer. Other children were Elizabeth, Mar 3 1732, Charles, May 23 1725, Sarah, July 4 1723-died Sept 7 1723, Ann July 19 1721. There was a Mary, posibly unbaptized, died Dec 5 1732. Thomas' wife Ann died im Mar 1 1746. There was only one Rumball family there at the time I believe. Is this your family?

I have lots of stuff for these Thomas Rumballs - including where they are buried at Edmonton, Middx and their inscriptions. What is your family connection? I am trying to connect with Charles Rumball of Hitchin who died 1826 at Hitchin, leaving a grandson Charles whose father Charles had already predeceased him.

William Rumball was my granfather. He married Sarah Elizabeth Jeram in 1903 after his first died, they had 5 childern my dad being one of them. As for him taking two son fron Sarah Hitchcock to live with Sarah Rumball (Jeram ) this was not so Arthur Rumabll did arrive in a cardboard box at the street door of Sarah Rumball(jeram). I know this because Uncle Arthur lived 2 doors aways from my family when he got married. I have lots of stuff including a will for Thomas the elder who previously lived in Enfield which is near Edmonton but the church was earlier. I have also traced the Stace(y) family who are connected to Mary. If you are still looking for this info please let me know.

Hi,

I am trying to research the family tree of Alice Louisa Rumball.
I can't seem to find her birth certificate. The only information that I had about her is that her father was William James Rumball and he was a Carpenter. She was married in July 1881 - to William Shaw in Middlesex at the church of st Jude. In 1881 she was living in Chelsea. I am wondering if she is the daughter of a William Rumball born in 1822 Norfolk, and he had a daughter called Alice born in 1857, in Islington, London.

Any help would be really appreciated :) Thanks, Rebecca

I think that her father might be the same William Rumball (born 1882, Norfolk) that you are refering to but I'm not sure - he had daughter called Alice born around the same time in Islington London. Do you have any information about the descendants of William Rumball?
As for Elizabeth Marchant - All I know is that they were married in 1851 in London and she was born in Marleybone, London in 1827.
Any help is really appreciated :)

My mother, Mary Winifred Bell, was the fourth child and second daughter of Lillian Marguerite Rumball who married George Thompson Bell in Newcastle on Tyne. Lillian was the eldest daughter of Lilian Jessie Weltch and Bernard Thomas Rumball, the son of John Rumball and Mary Bernard/Barnard. My mother married a Canadian serviceman ( Alexander MacPherson) in 1941 and emigrated to Canada in Feb 1944 with my two older sisters while my father was in Italy with the Canadian forces. I live now in Stratford Ontario Canada but am originally from St Thomas Ontario.
I have quite a bit of info on the Rumballs but have many gaps in my info. Please contact me directly at tmbee_2@hotmail.com and we can exchange info. How are you descended from Bernard Rumball?
Dear Helen Bule
Henry did indeed marrry Adeline Eliza Harrison by whom he had five children: Herbert Henry, Alfred, Walter Francis, Winifred, Adeline Beatrice. Adeline then marreid Vitor Von Strauss-Torney. I think they had twocchildren: Eric and Albert. Henry Rumball's younger brother Thomas Rumball was a distinguished railway builder who built part of the Bagdad railway beside railways in two other continents. The family are connected to mine and I have moe material about their ancestors. Do contact me.
Correction to Rumball-Fenner East Woodhay Family

Has anyone researched the family of Thomas Rumball who married Mary Stace, in Edmonton, Middlesex, England, Dec 2 1783 ? Their children are Mary Ann (1785), Elizabeth (1786) married to Benjamin Fenner, Thomas (1787) who may have died in infancy and Thomas (1789). Mary Ann moved to Haysville. Ontario circa 1837, Elizabeth and Benjamin Fenner moved to Long Island, New York earlier. I am not sure about Thomas who may have gone to the U.S or who may have stayed in England.
Thomas and Elizabeth White, East Woodhay, are not the parents of the above children as identified in my earlier message.

Yes, I know of a Henry Rumball who was born in or arond London UK in 1823. He was the son of Thomas Rumball, a wealthy man who unwifely manage to lose his fortune, and Jane Williams (1798-1858) He had various brothers who travelled the world mostly as civil engineers. I know something about this family and would very much like to know more about any descendants. Please so contact me.
Andrew Malleson

I think yours was a farmer from Mountnessing, Essex and he had a completely different set of children to my Thomas so sadly I think we are barking up the wrong tree, By all means get your friend to ring me but warn her that I probably cannot be useful.
Has anyone researched the family of Elizabeth Rumball, born Feb 12 1786 and Benjamin Fenner married abt 1812 in Hackney, London England? Her parents are Thomas Rumball and Elizabeth White. We are unable to go back any further. The Fenners emigrated to New York sometime before 1837. One son, Henry, married Mary Tye July 18 1843 in New York. Elizabeth had a sister Mary Ann, Mar. 1 1785 and a brother Thomas, Sep 11 1789 who may have emigrated to the U.S.A. as well. This message relates to the same Rumball family posted recently by Cameron Bryant. Information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I hope that this business of John Rumball (1794-1863) married to Elizabeth Littlechild (1799-1880) of Theydon Garnon, Peakes Farm, Essex, has finally been resolved. I also have a list of 12 children and Leonard actually seems to be the son of William Rumball who was one of the sons of John and Elizabeth. I have listed as follows the children of John and Elizabeth: Sarah, John, Ann (who was my GGGrandmother), Elizabeth, Jane, Daniel, William, Mary, David, Thomas, George, Frederick. Think this correct, but could be wrong. Thanks. Carol. Canada

As the family story goes he was connected to the Brittish Embasy in Turkey and fathered a son Herbert Henry Rumball in Constantinople in 1865 by Adeline Harrison. Adeline migrated to canada in 1901 usong the name Rumball, a widow.

I assume they were married. However the Henry John connected to that family is listed in all census forms as single. Do you know if he was in some way connected to the embasy?

Looking for ancestors of John Rumball 1794-1863 Theydon Garnon, Peakes Farm. I 'm wondering if anyone has any information on his ancestry i.e. his Father and Mother, siblings, etc. and going back from there as far as possible. Thanks for any help.
