Since posting the above six years ago, I have found more info on my grand parents. Most recently, I found my grandfather John Thomas RUMBLES (1906-1934) remarried in Los Angeles, CA, after my grandmother Elizabeth Barry RUMBLES's death on October 6, 1931.

John Thomas RUMBLES married an Evelyn B. [unknown] before his death, and she was still "Mrs Rumbles" when she was caught up on the 1936 LA County voter's registration lists ... but after that the trail goes cold.

She was an accountant, according to the voter's record, but I have no information more about her. Any Rumbles out there descended from John and Evelyn RUMBLES of Los Angeles, California?

RUMBLES of Chelmsford --- and the one who got away

My great-grandfather's family were all from Chelmsford, Essex, England, until he apparently moved to Glasgow before his marriage there in September 1898.

John RUMBLES was born in Chelmsford circa 1866, and married, at age 32, one Isabella Scoullar MUNN of Glasgow, on 26 September 1898. (She was born 22 December 1870).

I have not been able to research this pair any further than this ... until the 1930 US Federal Census, in which they appear, along with my 23 year old grandfather John Thomas RUMBLES, in Los Angeles, Cal., on the eve of my grandfather marrying my grandmother there, in Dec 1930.

Any help in documenting John and Isabella RUMBLES in Scotland, and/or their emigration to the US between 1920 and 1930, would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings,
I am seeking information about my great great grandfather, Mr. Simon Rumbles. He owned /or operated the FPMRR (railroad)Car Repair shop at 203 Kirk, Saginaw, Michigan in 1889-1890. I also remember seeing an old newspaper clipping saying he had been killed in a train accident around the turn of the 20th century. He was the father of Samuel Rumbles, also of Saginaw. Who was the father of Nelson and Donald Rumbles of Michigan. Donald was the father of Wayne and Gary Rumbles, also of Michigan. Wayne having been born in Lansing, Michigan. He also happens to be my father. Sorry if this sounds like a reading from the Old Testiment. Should anyone have information on the Simon Rumbles mentioned above, please e-mail me at 'rumbles@random.dayton.nv.us'. Thank you, I appreciate your time.

Also, I wanted to let you know that you spell the place with two ff's - Banffshire. When I typed in Banffshire, there were no messages because you had put one f in the place name.
