I have it right on my tree I wrote it wrong on this message. It goes Peter H. Rummel- 2 of his sons were Herman Peter and Aaron Sheridan Rummel. And Aarons sons was Evert, Ralph B, Hugh, Harry and Charles. Herman Peter Rummels sons were Floyd, Ralph L. and Harold.

You said that Evert was Ralph's Brother and son of Herman...as I stated above the names of Herman's son's and Aaron's sons. There were 2 Ralph's and that was what had me confused when I first started looking for my dad's family. I thought your father Ralph L was Aaron's son Ralph B. but later found out the difference.

I have noticed that there was alot of repeat names in this family line...LOL!!! And that makes it hard to find who is who.

Thanks for correcting my post Betty. I appreciate it.:)

Varinia

I have finally pieced together this about who is who. My father Robert (Rummel) Snyder was born to Bessie Stillwell and Evert Rummel Sr. (He was adopted by Edward and Lettie Snyder at about the age of 4)
Evert is the son of Aaron and Jennie Rummel. Herman P. Rummel is Aaron's brother. Ralph L Rummel is Aaron's brother. Aaron also had a son named Ralph. His middle initial is "B" not "L" as I had thought.
Now my question is this: Aaron and Herman's father- Peter H. Rummel, I have his middle name as Holtzhouse. I have a copy of Aaron's Social Security card application and it shows this on the application. Has anyone else heard of this name?

Also I am looking for information about Leafy Walburga (Rummel) Heberling. I am in search of her mother's name. I have her father as Herman Peter Rummel who was married to Margarete Emily Coss.
I am also interested in finding information about Herman's first wife Amanda H. Rummel. I found an article about a Divorce Subpoena for Herman P. Rummel and also in the Indiana Messenger Sept 20, 1899 where Amanda P. Rummel was seeking a divorce from Herman P. Rummel, who was said to be living in adultery with one Margaret E. Cass in the State of Ohio.

Now as you can see Amanda's middle initial's are different and the spelling of Margaret's last name is different but seems to be one in the same person. The initials was also different in the Subpoena itself.

So if anyone can share info about Leafy Rummel, Amanda H. or P Rummel or about Peter Holtzhouse Rummel's middle name it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much to Betty Rummel and her brother Ben Rummel for all the information and the pictures they have shared with me.

Varinia Atkinson

Thanks for returning my message. My mother was Betty Louise Rummel. Her Mother and dad were Eva Rummel Findley, and it was not until a few years before my mother past away did I come to understand that William Findley was my step grandfather, and that Jonathan Huston Rummel was my gg grandfather, and now that my father is getting up there I wanted to try to record this info. I never got to see or know Abie Dishong, but my mother moved north and married my father along with her sister Myrtle. I would enjoy hearing anything you might have and I still get to Ebensburg from time to time as Aunt Marie's children live around there. I also was lucky to find a woman who is related to me through the rummel side and we talk on face book. You made my day for me and that is the honest truth. My regular email is chuck959@hotmail.com and I should tell you I have traced and have over 3000 ancestors, and over a thousand families now in my data base. I really am trying my hardest to obtain data on both rummel, dishong, moore, all from your area. I hope you will stay in touch and if I can help you let me know. Thanks

I am looking for info on Aaron Sheridan Rummel and his wife Jennie S Owens. The had 5 sons...Evert Clayton, Ralph B.,Hughie H. Charles and Harry C. I have them listed on my family tree with I hope are pictures of them. My father was born Robert Lee Rummel then later adopted by the Snyder family. He was the illegitimate son of Evert Rummel and Bessie Stillwell Ramsey. I know this is probably a touchy subject with some but it is a fact of life. My grandmother is dead along with my father and Evert and his wife Lilian. I am not sure how many of Evert and Lillian's children are alive possibly all of them, so I do not mean to gain anything but family history.

Thanks so much for any help anyone can give me.
In regard to the Chambers Rummel who married Nancy Lockhard, and then Belle (Klinsman) McCormick, I found a newsclip published 25 March 1896 in the Indiana Messenger,
" ... has been taken to Riverside Penitentiary ...and Chambers Rummel, who will stay two years and six months for a felony." There is another Chambers Rummel from Armstrong county, but born in 1873, so I believe that the clip may refer to our Chambers, prior to his marriage to Belle. What do you think?
Hi, I am not sure if we connected or not.

I have a copy of Jonathan's death cert that identify his parents as Jonathan Rummel and Elizabeth Adams. I believe I located the family in the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 census.

I believe that Jonathan Sr. mother was also named Elizabeth based on the 1850 Census- green Township, Indiana County. Elizabeth Rummel (age 66) is living right next door to them.

I have no information on Elizabeth Adams Rummel's family, but haven't done much digging.

Let me know if that helps or if I can be of further assistance.

Your ancestor Jonathon Huston Rummel was the brother of my ggg grandmom Barbara ann she married Richard Thomas. They lived in Blacklick Conemaugh for many years and i am the decendent of Their son William Clifford Thomas . I was wondering if you by any chance have made further progress on going back another generation and finding out who gggggrandad Jonathon H.Rummels father was? I know you stated you thought his mother was Elizabeth and i saw a record that backs that up. Or Maybe the parents of Elizabeth Adams? Please be in touch if you can. thanks,Gina

Still trying to get my head around the connections. Your Mabel Georgia Rummel's second husband, Urbin Charles Collins was the younger brother of my great-grandfather, Joseph Hugh Collins, the oldest child of Charles Collins and Mary Ellen McKernan Collins. I believe that Della Rummel' husband, Patrick McKernan, was also connected to Mary Ellen McKernan. Sheila told me I had some double cousins. Now it seems I have distant cousins in Indiana. My father knew little about his family. I did research for a while but have been sidetracked. I hope to get involved again.

He was born in 12/25/1711 in Rosstal, Middle Franconia, Germany; died 10/13/1788 in Kingdom Wurttemberg Neker State-Canstatt Village Schmiden, Germany. He married Maria Barbara Rapp. I know of one son Johann Michael, who is an ancestor of mine. His father's surname may have been either Rummel or Rommel, according to the stories passed down by my relatives, one of our ancestors disowned himself from the family and changed the last name from Rommel to Rummel. I am especially interested in his parents and Maria's parents.

They befriended the Rummels (I think that is how you spell it) and we were looking at some slides the other day and dad was wondering what happened to them. I think they were in their 40's at that time and were from California. Does anyone have any information about these people?
Abraham Rummel

I am searching for info on Abraham Rummel, who according to census records he was born about 1825 in Pennsylvania (up to 1880 census, after that not found) But was in the Wayne County, Indiana area beginning in 1850 with 19 year old wife Anna. He is age 25 and was born in Pennsylvania. In 1870 children are Emma born 1859, Samuel born 1852 and William born 1854. I am assuming he is the son of either Peter Rummel and Catherine Staffer, or Jacob Rummel and Catharine Arter who where brothers in the same area as this Abraham. Catherine Arter Rummel is buried in New Lisbon Cemetery in Henry County, most of the others are buried in Germantown (Pershing) or Cambridge City, Wayne County, Indiana. Any help is appreciated!
