My name is Edward Rundle. My father was Eldon Rundle, grandfather was Albert Rundle from Ontario Canada. His father was Thomas Rundle also from Ontario. Their family came Cornwall, St Pinoch, England. I have just begun this search and think there is a connection here.
I have also found Rundles in Edmunton, Canada but sure if any connection.

If you have any suggestions or better info you can contact me at sand72socks@att.net

I have located a Frederick W Rundle born Torquay 1853, Parents George & Elizabeth. I note that Lester was born 1812 in Canada, but Alec was born 1915, registered at Kingsbridge Devon mother nee Stone. Cannot locate marriage. No sign of either on 1911 Census. George's father might be a Brice Rundle wife Elizabeth but would need to confirm with documentation . Birth certs /Marriage certs.

Frederick William RUNDLE b.1883 emigrated to Canada

I am trying to trace descendants of Frederick W Rundle who was born in Devon, England, and in 1910 married Martha Margaret Stone. There were four children, all boys - Lester b. 1912 in Canada, Alec G b. 1915 in Devon, England, and Allen and Owen (twins) b. 1916 in Cardiff, Wales.

In 1919 the family emigrated to Canada, arriving in Quebec, but with an ultimate destination of Calgary where they intended to farm dairy cattle. The trail has run dry and I am hoping there is someone out there who can help pick up the trail again.
James Richards Rundle and Constance Mary Rundle (Grice) - Sir Leslie???

Constance Mary was my great grandmother and seems ot be the daughter of James Richards - she married Arthur Edward Grice who was mayor of Birkenhead. In the newspaper obituary it states she is the cousin of general Sir Leslie Rundle and grandaughter of Commander Rundle. Although we have a photo of Sir Leslie - it is taken at the same time as an official one (albeit not exactly the same photo as on internet. I can find no evidence so far of this connection and am only keen to pursue it if it is relevant. As i will go to South Africa on holidaythis year, it could be a useful thinkg to know!!! HELP any Wingates and Rundles out there!! Janet Shell

Donald Matthew Rundle

I am interested in anyone that has any information on Donald Matthew Rundle, born between 1910 and 1920 in Victoria, Australia. He married Myra Ellen Evelyn Burridge (last name not certain) and is now deceased (date unknown). Donald was a carpenter by profession. In 1942 Donald was living with his wife at 12 Moorabbin Road, Mentone. By 1980 Donald and wife were living at 30a Clare Street, Mordialloc, Isaacs, Victoria. Who were his parents, and is he related in any way to William Rundle, born, 1863 in Tywardreath, Cornwall or does he have any relationship to the Cornish Rundles at all? Look forward to any light that can be shed.

Wow! It is so good to hear from you. Your grandmother was sister to my husband's grandmother, Beatrice Rundle, so you are his second cousin. I've learned quite a lot more about the family since my original post. I've also corresponded with another of Emma Louisa Rundle's grandsons - son of William George - for over a year now. We've exchanged lots of information you may be interested in. We knew of all the children you list except for Marjorie - your mother. I will give you access to my family tree so you can see what I have. I also have a photo of Emma Louisa Rundle's mother - your great grandmother, and her sister, Beatrice.

My e-mail address is christinetonkin@gmail.com. Please send me yours so that we can exchange info. Do you have any photos of Emma and other family photos?

UPDATE: The brother George may well be William G Rundle born in St Austell in 1912. It appears that the parents, Rundle and Hunt, may have also had two girls, Adelaide and Dorothy but, as they were born in Bodmin and, the years of birth are the same as Henry and William's, I doubt that they are of the same parentage. I may well be wrong though! I have seen a November 1910 birthdate listed as: Jan, Feb, Mar 1911 so all four children may well be related!

Henry John Rundle-1914-1987-St Austell, Cornwall, England

I am the grandson of Henry Rundle and really struggling to find any details of him! His mother's maiden name was HUNT and he was born in St Austell on 30th November 1914. He married Phebe Victoria Richards (my Gran) in 1943 at St Austell and, had my father, Ernest George Rundle 24th May 1945 in Bodmin. He would also have been a step-father to Anthony Edward Richards (born out of wedlock), 1941 at Truro. He also appears as the father of Margaret J Rundle, born 1947 in Plymouth but, it seems that Margaret may well be the child of Phebe's later husband, Leslie Cox!

Henry may have had a brother called George who lived next door to his own mother in St Austell around 1968!

I know there are lots and lots of Rundle families around the St Austell area during this period but, I was rather hoping that someone might remember an Uncle/Great-uncle Henry!

Thank you.

Anthony George Rundle

Hello Bruce,
We have Jane RUNDLE born about 1805 ST Ewe [according to census ]
Jane RUNDLE married William Hodges NICHOLLS in 1824 in Kenwyn, Cornwall
On the baptismal parish record of their son John, parents of Jane RUNDLE are recorded as Henry RUNDLE and his wife Elizabeth.
We have discovered that the Elizabeth was Elizabeth GUMB.
Elizabeth NICHOLLS, daughter of William NICHOLLS and Jane RUNDLE was named Elizabeth Gumb NICHOLLS - Which connects the two three families.
We have never been able to find Jane RUNDLES birth/baptismal record.
Yes, we have found RUNDLE family in St Ewe....however, not this family.
Thinking maybe they were cousins or ....whatever....and maybe she was born there, however, the baptism was elsewhere...

We have the SEARLE, NICHOLLS, RUNDLE BAWDEN families in these area..
Is this of interest?
Pamela
Dear Elaine,
My 2x Gt Grandfather was Edwin Rundle ( I have no middle name for him). He was the son of George Rundle c 1797 & Elizabeth Light. I have this info from Parish records. In the June quarter of 1852, in Plymouth, Edwin married Catherine Puleston c 1835. She was born in New Brompton,Chatham, Kent. I am positive that this is correct as my Grandfather had 'Puleston' as part of his name, being William Henry Puleston Rundle b 1895 in Exeter. I am also certain of my links to James Rundle and Jane King as I have twice visited a dear gentleman who is the church warden at Loddiswell, Devon and we have searched through some parish papers. I don't know an Edwin R or know of any links to Ugborough.
We must be reated if we share James & Jane, but not sure how. Will be pleased to hear from you again.
Best wishes
Christine

Hi Christine,
I am also descended from James Rundle and Elizabeth King but I'm sorry that I can go no further back than their marriage. Is your gg grandfather Edwin R. Rundle, son of William Rundle of Ugborough, Devon, and Mary (formerly Burt) nee Charley? If so, my gg grandmother is Edwin's sister, Elizabeth Ann Rundle b. 3, Whitecross Street, Plymouth,2.5.1856. She married William Charles Hookway 24.8.1879 at Stoke Damerel, Plymouth and she died 20.4.1894 aged 37 while expecting her 11th child.

I guess that makes us 3rd cousins!
Sorry I can't help you further,
Kind regards,
Elaine.

Hello Chris, Finally found out the father of John Veale, husband of Hannah Furze Veale. It was Oliver Veale born in 1737 and he was married to Ann Cuttins. He died in 1807 and I believe I sent you the picture of his tombstone attached to St. Leonards Church in Clawton... Ann was born in 1755 and I believe was his second wife. They had Elizabeth in 1785, John in 1786, Jenifer 1789, Ann in 1791, Thomas 1795, William in 1798, and Harriet in 1801.

I am the eldest granddaughter of Bethel A. (Rundle) Jefferson. My mother was her eldest daughter - Diane Theresa. I would like to know how to be in touch with whomever is now organizing the family reunion, and/or keeping the family history. Grandmom is passed (2 weeks ago, now) and my aunts and uncles just don't know as much about the family as I'd hoped. I have a copy of the history as written by Arlo Moss, and it is good, as far as it goes, but I would love to know more.
I have a Thomas Tipper c1790 maybe in Dartmouth area, who married a Maria Rundle bap 4/10/1792 in Loddiswell Devon - I have seen the church records. Maria was a sister to my 3xGt Grandfather. Some of my Rundle family ancestors moved away from Loddiswell to Plymouth, Stoke Dameral being one of the areas of Plymouth where I have found them on census lists. Maybe the Tipper link continued into future generations but along a different branch to mine? I have no Richard Rundles on record as yet though.

I am looking at the same photo that you have described with written on the top "Texas Rangers in 1878. We are very familiar with the texas Rangers history and have gone into the State of Texas Archives in Austin and have found that not one single name on the photograph is listed as a Texas Ranger in any service of the Rangers especially the Frontier Battalion in which these so called Rangers would have been a menber of. Through Ranger archive records there are no records of any kind ---enlistment--pay vouchers---or discharge
records. Out of over 2,800 Frontier Battalion records in which they would have served (1874-1901) not one single member in the photo shows up on any company of Rangers rosters.

I believe the true identification of the period of time is indicated in the photograph showing Jim Glen second from left...holding a "Colt Lightning Pump Rifle." This particular Colt Rifle was manufactured from 1884-1902. So the photo could not have been made in 1878 with a rifle not manufactured until 1884. I BELIEVE THAT THE INDIVIDUALS IN THE PHOTO ARE CERTAINLY NOT TEXAS RANGERS AND THE PHOTO WAS NOT TAKEN IN 1878.

Jim Ryan
Frontier Battalion
Historical co.
