Unfortunately, I do not. Our family's oral history only goes back to Monroe Runnels. However, have you viewed the 1870 census data on Jerry Runnels? Dennis Runnels (age 67) is listed in the household with Jerry, but so far, I have not been able to confirm his relationship. I look forward to sharing with you whatever I find out. I have already contacted someone on your behalf for additional Dock Runnels' family information. Thanks for your reply.

Black Runnels in Texas

Trying to find out a little info about my family. I only know my mothers parents personally. My mother is Brenda Runnels. She later married and became McLennan. (Im also searching for McLennan's as well). Her dad was named Loy Runnels b. Oct 13 1921. Her mother is Opal Blanton. From what I've heard, Loy's parents were Dock Runnels of Bowie county in Tx, and Mattie. I was told that Mattie's maiden name was Compton, but the only Mattie Compton I could find was a white woman. I seriously doubt that she is the correct Mattie. A Mattie Runnels is listed on the 1930 census in Bowie as spouse of Dock, but I am unable to find a maiden name. Whew... that was a lot.:) Im kind of at a dead end here. If anyone has any advice that could help or any knowledge of any of them, please send me a message. Thank you so much!!

Anna M Runnels, born Dec 25, 1861 in Ohio

I am looking for any information regarding Anna M Runnels (Runnel, Reynolds, Reynold, etc.) born Dec 25, 1861, married Theodore J Huelsman about 1881, died Oct 23, 1928 in Coldwater, OH (Mercer County). She had 9 children: Anna Marie (Maymie), John, Charles H, Clemens F, Bernard John (Barney), Benjamin, Frances R, George Theodore, and William Clem. Her son John was my grgrandfather; he changed his last name to Davis and married my grgrandmother Viola Robinson. They lived in Lorain, Ohio.
The family story on Anna is that she was adopted/purchased? from an orphanage by either Theodore or his father, Herman Henry Huelsman, specifically to marry Theodore, bear his children, and work on his farm. Rumor has it that the reason my grgrandfather changed his name to Davis is that Anna had an affair with a man named Tom Davis, with John as the result. Of course there is nothing (that I have found, anyways) on paper to substantiate this, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I do know that there was an orphanage in the St. Mary's area at that time, but so far have not had any luck getting a response back from the church. It is still in existence (St. Augustine's), and I know that there are Huelsman relatives that are buried in the cemetery there.

Runnels

I'm wondering if there is a connection, I'm looking for information on a Ephraim Runnels born in New York abt 1822 married to Marana T. born in New York abt 1824. I found them in Ill census 1850's with their daughter Sarah & living with a Walter Reed. Next I find them in San Juan, Monterey County Calif 1860's. Why I'm looking for them is Marana was a witness to my ancestors marriage in San Juan,Calif 1863. The only information I have on Mary Elizabeth Reed is born 9-25-1845 Ill. then she is in Calif. Maybe she was related to Ephraim or Marana & came to Calif with them. In California their last name is spelled Reynolds. Any information would be great. Thank you Sue

Jane Eliza Runnels or Runnely/James Hawthorn

I am trying to find out who the birthmother of my Dad's Grandfather was. I am beyond stumped. Here's what I know and/or have found via the computer and via Salt Lake City.

James P. Hawthorn was my Dad's Great Grandfather. He was b. 1802 in So. Carolina. In the 1830's he was living in Cass Co., IL. with 2 children: William b. 1835 and an "infant" was listed, but no wife. Then in 1839 he married a Winny Ledbetter in IL. and they proceeded to have 3 children. Many Hawthorn(e)'s believe Winny was William's mother, but I disagree. I have discovered there was a James who married a Jane Eliza Runnely(Runnels?) in 1829 The marriage is listed on "Marriages-KY. 1828-1830 Marriage Book 2, Pg. 149". Since Hawthorn's lived in KY and ARK I believe James is my Dad's Great Grandfather, and, Jane Runnely is his Great Grandmother. But I have only been able to confirm this marriage took place thru books at Salt Lake City. Nor do I know what happened to Jane Eliza; did she die, or divorce James? Since they married in 1829 I am guessing there were infants born between 1829 and 1835 when William was born. The next child listed as "Infant", with James as the Father but no wife, makes me feel the child died and possibly so did Jane Eliza in childbirth. Since she may have lost infants born between 1830 and 1834, perhaps her own health wasn't good either. Then comes the marriage to James Hawthorn and Winny Ledbetter in 1939, 4 years after William had been born. Also in Cass Co., IL. This is my reason for not believing Winny was William's Mom. In James' "Will", William "appoints" Winny as his guardian, which I don't believe was necessary for a minor to have to do with his birthmother. It didn't happen for the latter 3 children who were by Winny.

Any help with this Jane Eliza Runnely, or whatever the correct spelling might be, would be so greatfully appreciated. I know the spelling of the last name varies a lot as I have found them in Ancestry in KY and that general area. I also found the name Jane Eliza ???Rommel??? in the Marriage Bonds Book in Salt Lake for Bourbon Co., Ark - I believe it was Ark and not KY. Apparently they were not sure of the spelling or possibly the pronounciation. Neither was there a name for who may have paid for the marriage - which I was hoping it would have been her parent's, but no such luck. Please, e-mail me at dlr276@aol.com. Thank you.
Lynne Hawthorne Rodriguez
Wondering if there is any information about Lucy Runnels. She married Isham Clyatt in 1817 in Richmond Co., GA (Augusta area).

I found an Isom Cliatt in Richmond Co. GA on the 1820 Census, and two Runnels as well. Thomas and John. Strangely, I found two sources that claim there is a John Runnels in this census, but I did not find his name anywhere in the originals provided online at Ancestry.com. He is supposedly on the same page as Isom Cliatt, but to my eyes he is not there. Maybe the copies posted are off-center, and he is below the name of Isom Cliatt and we just can't see it?? Make sense?

Any info would help, thanks!

Dori Lloyd :-]

I think I might be looking for the same Runnels family that lived in San Angelo, Tx. Was your Charles the son of Nora Belle Wilkinson Estes Runnels? I am working on her Wilkinson family and have not had any luck finding info on Nora's family.

My great-granddad was Issac Runnels.there was a bunch of kids.even my great-great granddad Sam started new families after the civil war were they fought for the yankees. We may be kin. The runnels down here are all doing our ancestry.
