Hi Joanne. I believe our families are related. Is your family originally from Sant'Andrea di Conza? My grandfather was born in 1884, my mom, his daughter was born in 1919. What year was Pasquale born? In order to put the puzzle together we need to know which generations we are talking about. I think that I can give you more information with the help of my 89 year old aunt. Does the name Ricciordiello mean anything to you? Hope to hear from you, Diane.

Hi - My mom was a Russoniello. Her father was Pasquale Russoniello married to Rose. They grew up in East Orange, NJ and owned a bread bakery. I have been trying to find other Russoniello's who know their parents or grandparents. Your family may be cousins to Pasquale. Thanks,

Joanne

Hi Maria,
Thanks for your reply. My father Francis (Frank) Russoniello was born in Jersey City, N.J. in 1919. His father was Pasquale Russoniello, but obviously not the Pasquale born in 1911. My grandrather Pasquale had an Italian bread Bakery in East Orange N.J. All of my family lives in New Jersey. I would like to investigate this further to see if there is any relation.
Thanks for your interest. Let's keep in touch.

Diane

I have the following information. Do you see a connection with your family? Trying to help a cousin locate his family.

Pasquale Russoniello was born approx. 1911 in Pescopagano, Avelino Italy. He was 22 years old when he married on December 7, 1933 to Marie Louise Anne Denise RIVIERE. He was a jeweler. His mother's name was Maria Altera. He was born out-of-wedlock. We recently located this information from a notation on his marriage certificate. His birth certificate may have read the surname Pasquale Altera. He had the following children: Joseph Russoniello born 1937, Gerald Russoniello born 1934 and Pierre Russoniello born 1935. He then died in the Carribean when his son Joseph was a baby. He died on December 11, 1937 at a hospital called "Hospice Saint François de Sales. His death certificate says he was 30 years old at his death, which would mean he would have been born in 1907. Yet his marriage certificate puts his birth year at 1911, which might be more correct since he was alive.
Oral history says he had an aunt by the name of Ermelinda
Conte, an Italian who lived in Venezuela. And finally another oral history is that he had a sister by the name of Maria (Altera or Russoniello) who lived in New Jersey. This is all the information I have to date...

Your recent e-mail's information is totally 'news to me". I'm not familiar with anyone in the e-mail! As a matter of fact, my family tree goes back to approx. 1900 when my grandfather, Pasquale, came to America to set up a potential job (eventually Italian bread in N.Y. C.; later, Jersey City, NJ). My father, Michael, was born in 1916 in J.C.: the 4th son of Pasquale and Josephine who also had a girl, Mary, and two younger brothers (Both John; one died about 1918 from the flu, i believe.) I still have one uncle, John, and one aunt, Mary. John is about 83 or so and Mary is about 90-ish!
Anyway, I'm not sure if you and I will make an easy "connection" unless this information makes sense to you!
Tom:

I found some startling news that was passed on to my cousin.
His name is Joseph Russoniello born in 1937. He always believed that his father's name was Pasquale Russoniello.

Well, this is what I found:

Pasquale Russoniello's real name was Pasquale Altera, son of Maria Altera. No father is listed for Pasquale. This was found on his marriage certificate. He was from Pescopagano Sant Andrea di Conza Italy. Pasquale died in 1937 when his son Joseph was 10 months old.

There is a second document found dated 1963, which allowed the name change of Pasquale Altera to Pasquale Russoniello. Pasquale's family had returned to Italy. So, this would have been petitioned by Joseph Russoniello's mother, who was the wife of Pasquale. She must have known who Pasquale's real father was.

Joseph's mother is still alive. Unfortunately, she has hidden all this information for years and Joseph is afraid to ask her why? She is a very old women now.

I will be requesting more information. Contact me directly at corralesm@earthlink.net

There is a family story passed down regarding who Pasquale's father was. Somewhat scandulous for those days and today as well.

I also send a message to a women (Luca Altera) in Pescopagano Sant Andrea Italy who was a web page for the name Altera. She did not respond to date. I am hoping that once the holidays pass, she will see the message.

Thank you for responding.

Maria

Pasquale Russoniello was my grandfather from St. Andrea de Conza. he died in 1937. He could have been a cousin to your relative, as their were a couple Pasquale's. His wife, my grandmother, Josephine Scolamiero died around 1950. They had 7 children, 6 boys, 1 boy passed away within months of birth from influenza, 1 girl, Mary Russoniello, resides in Jersey City. My father was Michael. He was born in 1916 and had brothers Andrew (died 1983), Sabin (died 1986), Thomas (died 1992), John, resides in West Long Branch, NJ. Michael, my father had 30 granchildren and 18 great grandchildren, so our family tree gets a little more complex from here. I'm familiar with my cousins and their families for the most part, so I could help you in establishing a link to your side of the Russoniello's from St. Andrea, Italy.
