Born December 14, 1946, in Monroe, Michigan, she was the daughter of Robert and George "Dordy" Rye.

Angela grew up in Monroe, MI, and earned a bachelor's degree in education from Eastern Michigan University. She taught seventh and eighth grade literature at Ontario Middle School from 1988 until 2004.

She is survived by her husband, Tim Knabe, whom she married in 1991; her mother, "Dordy" Rye of Tellico Village, TN; daughter, Stephanie (Jeff) Weber of the Temperance, MI; sons, Nathan Herrold of Fayetteville, WV and Adam (Kristen) Herrold of Loveland, Ohio; three grandchildren, Carter, Jackson and Sophie Weber; sisters, Chris (Larry) Novak of Michigan, Susan (Ross) Hays of Florida; a brother, Patrick (Sheri) Rye; six nieces and nephews; four step children, Shawn (Barb) Knabe, Nicole Knabe, Christopher Church, and Jennifer Clem and their families.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Rye.

Angela chose to leave a legacy of literature to future scholars at Ontario Middle School.

Hi,
The names Matthew and Joseph feature in my family however, I have found none who have crossed the pond to the USA. I don't doubt some did but I just cant find them. I am habouring thoughts the some of the earliest chaps may have gone to war or to India (1770 - 1800) but no definitive links yet.

You are so extremely lucky to be descended from Sir Walter Rye. I have read his book and would very much like to link in to his Family Tree however, my lot were first found in Southwark in 1770 and be darned if I can find the Baptism of the first Matthew who was born c1750. Can find no link between London and the RYE's mentioned by Sir Walter. Darn.

I have a copy of Emma's marriage certificate to Henry Penfield Rye, 25 Sep 1879, in the parish church of Throwley, Faversham, Kent. It gives the name of Emma's father as Robert Anderson. Witnesses at the marriage were Charles Packham Rye and Jane Wall (Emma's daughter in law).Emma died in 1889 in Whitstable, Kent.

From census records I have worked out that Emma was the niece of Sarah Anderson who was born 1777 in Seasalter, Kent. Robert (Emma's father) must have been Sarah's brother. Sarah was the daughter of John and Ann Anderson acording to her baptism record of 1777 from the Whitstable Parish records. I believe Ann Anderson to have been Ann Ougham who married John Anderson on 29 Jul 1773 at Seasalter, Kent (from Seasalter Parish record). Ann Ougham was the daughter of Ozias Ougham b 1710, d 1783 (this information from the will of Ozias Ougham from the National Archives).

I am a great, great, great, great, great granddaughter of Ozias Ougham (descended from his son Nathaniel, Ann's brother). Interestingly the first wife of Henry Penfield Rye
was Mary Ougham b 1816, the brother of my great, great grandfather Thomas Ougham, and a second cousin to Emma.

I have just read a couple of your other posts and can see that Emma had a great many descendants , mostly in the USA. I should be very interested to learn more about them. I also notice that some of them lived in Stacyville, Iowa. George Ougham, who was a brother of my great grandfather henry John Ougham spent some time there in the 1870s and three of his children (Wallace Alfred, Sarah Mary and Horace George) were born there. Iam still trying to find exact birth dates for both Wallace and Horace.

I would be very happy to get in touch with you and exchange information. I have done quite a bit of work on the Ougham part of the family. Hope we can help each other.

Margaret may have had a twin sister or a sister a year or so younger then her. I have a photo of the family in Scotland taken about 1889 or 90, just before their mother, Elizabeth died. Their father died in early July 1891 and later in July 1891, the family came to the States through New York. I have another photo of the kids in the States, not sure of the year, maybe 1905ish.

Compare the info I am sending to what you have and let me know if I am close. I can send you the family tree back to the mid 1700's and the photo's if you would like. My Henry Rye married Sarah Trout Nov. 3, 1918 in Wilson Co., TN and for a number of generations they stayed in Wilson Co., TN. I don't have a death of either Henry or Sarah and don't have any information about a second wife. I am sure that your Henry C. Rye is Henry Clinton Rye, the date is about right. Though there was both a Sr. and Jr. Henry Clinton Rye. Henry Clinton is part of our Absolom Rye, the biggest, by far, set of information, and Henry Rye is the oldest of our Henry Rye line. Both are part of a large 3 volume book on the Ryes of the South.

The above is all written with my Co-author, Elsie Baggett Smith. This is a proper combination since the Ryes and Baggetts have been together for over 270 years back to NC. They also inter-married: my grandmother was a Baggett, my aunt married a Baggett and Elsie married a Rye. Elsie also has a book out herself on the Baggetts and also spends half of each year in Clarksville to continue research, but it may be a way just to catch with friends and class mates.

I'm interested to see if this Henry Wrye (Rye) maybe a direct ancestor of mine.
Do you have any information as to when he married Sara Trout and when she died?
I'm trying to see if there was a marriage between Dicey BAggett (my ggg-grandmother (1815 - 1877) and Henry Rye. Dicey had two children James (b. 1842) and John (b1845) in Montgomery County tn, Family lore is that the father is either a Causey or Rye.
I found an interesting entry in the marriage records of montgomery county on May 28, 1840. UNder groom- Eleanor Miller, bride Dycy Baggett, security: Henry C. Rye. I'm wondering if the clerk accidently switch the bond holder and the groom.
So I'm wondering if you may have some info .

Looking for the parents of Henry RYE

Henry RYE was born 1867 in Vermont. He married Mary HART and both turn up over the years in various census records as living in Orleans County, VT. In 1880 a Henry RYE shows up as a servant living with the OLMSTEAD family in Sheldon, VT. Is this the same Henry RYE? Why was he a servant at the age of 13. Who were his parents? He indicates in later records his mother was from Canada and father was from Vermont but I have not been able to locate any additional information. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Solomon is my g-g-g-grandfather (think I have that right!). I'm a descendant of his son Solomon Rye, Jr. The info I have shows that Solomon was born in 1750 and died in 1819 in Dickson County, Tennessee. Do you have any more information on Solomon?

Hoping somebody can help with this family. I have found a number of the related Rye families in the various years of the England Census, but would like to be able to contact any descendants who may have any family knowledge of Emma Banks.

My husband is descended from Emma's younger sister, Sophia Banks (Cotterill) who came to Australia with one of her older brothers, Richard, and his wife and two children. Richard's twin brother George, and his wife Caroline, came to Australia around 1823/24. Both men were Master Mariners.
