Did a daughter of Jeremiah Sr. marry John Johnson, Dutchess Co, NY?

In the opus, "Settlers of the Beekman Patent" (in Dutchess County, NY) in Volume VII under "The Johnson Familes" section, author Frank J. Doherty writes:

"4. JOHN JOHNSON...probably born ca. 1717...We believe he married one of the three daughters of Jeremiah Sabin Sr. [1684-1775] for whom husbands have not been found-107. They are: Abigail Sabin, b. 26 June 1721; Hannah Sabin, b. 23 March 1725; and Keziah Sabin, b. 19 Sept. 1729. They had a brother Uriah Sabin who married a Billings and they lived in Pawling 1739-1741 or so. Uriah Sabin is the father of Billings Sabin of Beekman.-108

John Johnson lived in the Pawling area or just across the state line in CT...

107. They have not been found to the knowledge of the compiler of these records.

108. Sabin family records."

Does anyone have further information on this, either pro or con? Thank you.

Wow! My typing fingers ache just looking at this list, all two of them!

About William, son of Israel - if he was born and died on the same day in 1754, he would not have been on any Census. If you meant a different death date other than 1754, he may have been missed from the Census - absence is not proof of non-existence.

But I have a feeling that you are talking about a phantom person who has sneaked into a lot of online pedigrees and who refuses to fade away? Misinformation spreads much faster, it seems, than proven data and clings more tenaciously.

Thank you for your hard work.

Rehoboth Ann Sabin 1761

Have studied the Allens from Barrington/Swansea/Rehoboth for years but the line of Dan Allens peters out with few records however they are right in the same area father to son same land. The last Dan Allen has a land evidence in Taunton Deeds (in Rehoboth) where he and his wife Ann sell in 1765. One of the Dans married Annis Chaffee but I'm sure it isn't her, however as you noted there is that marriage intention of Dan Allen to an Ann Sabin/Saben in Rehoboth intentions 25 Apr.1761.
As I mentioned he is of Dan,Dan,Dan, Dan and Mary (Dexter) ,John and Christian(Bacon) all of Swansea/Rehoboth Actually Barrington R.I. now.

One other point of note: they are living about two miles as the crow flies from Sabins Point Rehoboth , now East Providence on Narragansett Bay. I've looked back to 1680 and can't find which Sabin might have been named after. Might have been an earlier grant from Plymouth to Wm or ? It was John Browns purchase from the Indians in 1645. I wanted to add her to Frank Fishers Sabin data base but his email is wrong, anyone?

Well, thank you. I have all that information ,Thanks. And I just found an obituary for Mildred Irene Sabin McDonald. Her parents were John and Margie Sabin. It says she was born 21 Nov 1924. So now we have another question/mystery. My Grandmother, Echo Sherman and John Sabin were married on 2 Apr. 1924. How strange. Of course, I have no idea when they divorced. And I will now be looking for Margie. There is a lot of hanky panky going on and my Grandma Echo was right in the middle of it. It makes me wonder if Margie was pregnant before my Grandma Echo married John? Or is Margie a step mother? In which case, where is she in 1930? Did she die? My Grandma Echo was living with Felix Fly and had a son with him in 1926. On and on it goes.

I stumbled upon the 1925 State Census of South Dakota on the LDS Beta site and it is possible that Mildred is Bessie's daughter before she married. The 1925 Census is listed in card file format, but tshe lived in Carson, SD and so did her parents and brother William (who was a little young to father a child). Bessie married in 1927. Here is a list of all of the children to Charles and Esther Sabin. These have been taken from several sources on Ancestry. I believe there are 2 family trees accesible on Rootsweb also.

1.	Mabel Esther Sabin b: 7 OCT 1889 in MN
2.	Pearl Mary Sabin b: 27 MAR 1892 in MN
3.	David Rawleigh Sabin b: 6 AUG 1894 in MN
4.	Elva Caroline Sabin b: 17 SEP 1896 in MN
5.	Clarence Ernst Sabin b: 16 JUN 1899 in MN
6.	Charles William Sabin b: 2 JUN 1900 in MN
7.	John Wesley Sabin b: 29 JUL 1904 in MN
8.	Alfred Sabin b. 1907 in MN
9.	William Keith "Bill" Sabin b: 31 JUL 1913 in SD

You did not say if you got achance to actually view the 1930 Census or not. I looked at it and it lists Mildred as the granddaughter to Charles and Ester Sabin, but that does not exactly tell you whose daughter she was unfortunately. In the image, it looks like son John is listed as divorced. I will look around Ancestry and see if I can find anything else. If I do I will post here.
Michele
mishbender@comcast.net
P.S.
I am not in a direct line of any of the three families. I am doing this for a niece, June Hayward. June is a daughter of Victories brother, Charles.

Glenn and I were the same age [both born in 1926). We were good friend in our early years. In 1930 Charles was living with the Harwicks in a house in Ferndale which was directly behind the house I lived in. I really can't remember a lot about Glenn, but I think we were in Jr High togeather but I don't recall him in high school. If I am correct on this it would mean he moved out of Ferndale in the late 1930

I will contact you later with the info I have on Lena. I need to find the paperwork.

If you could E-mail me at dhill983@comcast.net, I would appreciate it.

I have some notes that her son, my grandfather Glenn, drew up, which are similar to what you had written.
Violet.
My mothers great unlce was Louis C. Sabin - the chief engineer on the Soo Locks. I too am looking for more information I. I do know that he was head of the Great Lakes Steamship Association and that he and my mothers aunt lived in Cleveland. I have a number of pictures of them. My mother hailed from a rather prosperous Detroit and Ann Arbor family and some famioly history is available. My mother has stated Louis had a son from a previous mariage and he lived in St Claire shores or Gross Pointe. Addtionally they were both (my mother and Louis son) in the DAR & SAR together and attended dances together - this was in the late 30s and early 40s.
Please disregard my previous post. I found in another note from Victoria a reference to Howard and Lena adopting an indian named Sabin. I wonder if the report he made on the birth records in st. Clair County might have been the indian child. The more I try to figure out what happened and who the parents were the more confused it becomes. Sorry for what I reported in my previous post but at the time it made sense.

This "Sabin/Hurlburt" has been somthing I have been trying to figure out for some time. I believe Samantha was a Hurlburt and not a Sabin. I found an index of births in Michigan. In 1876 an "unnamed female" was born to a Hurlburt family in St. Clair county. I also have a note from Samanthas daughter Victoria. She talks about Samanta Hurlburt" and says Samantha "Sabin" Hurlbert" "adopted"-Iriquois-"Indian mother worker for Sabins- married 1897-98. I know there two possile Sabin families living in the Richmond area. If I can be of any help, let me know.

Sorry about the delay in my response. Here is the obituary I have for a Vernon W. Sabin who has a son Lloyd.

The Fresno Bee Tuesday May 31, 1966
Vernon W. Sabin
Funeral services for Vernon W. Sabin, 72 of Kettleman City, Kings County, who made news in 1956 when he was reunited with a brother he had not seen in 41 years, will be hed tomorrow at 10 am. in the John N. Lisle Chapel.
Sabin died Sunday in an Avenal hospital after a short illness. A native of Cleveland, Ohio. He had lived in Kings county 42 years.
Sabin and his brother Edward were reunited in Kettleman City in 1956. They lost touch when Vernon left the family home in Nine Mile Falls, Wash., near Spokane in 1915. His brother married in 1916, and lived for a time in Spokane and moved to Hawaii in 1920 where he has lived since.
Vernon Sabin retired in 1958 after 34 years as a caretaker for the Standard Oil Company. He served in the Navy during World War I.
In addition to his brother he is survived by his widow, Lucile: two sons Edwin of Fresno and Lloyd of Santa Margarita, San Luis Obispo County and five grandchildren.
Burial will be in the Belmont Memorial Park.

Notes: Vernon left the family in Washington to enlist for the war. He probably didn't live long in or near Cleveland, Ohio. However, he was born there in about 1896 but lived in Arkansas with his father Leonard R. Sabin and brother Edward in 1900, his mother had, I believe passed away.

Edward Frank Sabin, Vernon's brother lists as an only son Alfred E. Sabin of Vista and also a daughter Lois Biszmaier. His obit was out of the Times Advocate in 1983. Edward is buried in Hawaii by his wife. His son Alfred lists two sisters in his obit...Lois Biszmaier and Rosemary Panzella. Alfred's obit was also from the Times Advocate in 1994.

This line is very interesting. Lloyd's great-grandmother may have died at the Panama Canal but can't find anything for sure.

I have a Lloyd Sabin of Santa Margarita, San Luis Obispo County as a survivor to his father Vernon W. Sabin in 1966. He had a brother Edwin of Fresno. Lucile was probably Lloyd's mother as she was listed as Vernon's widow. Have you looked at California death records?

Vernon W. Sabin was born about 1894 near Cleveland Ohio, the son of Leonard Sabin and unknown. Vernon had another brother Edward Frank.

Can I ask you where you were born and the date? My husband has been doing lots of research on his family tree. I'll make sure he see's this because I know that there was a Lloyd (Bud) in his family. I never met him, but I know we have a picture of all of the family that includes him.

I really Can't say. He left when I was 3 and my mother never spoke of him, except to inform me that he was my real father when I was about 15. Then when I enlisted in the military at the age of 17 I saw my birth certificate for the first time. It showed Lloyd as my father.

The only other information I have is the book "The Descendants of William Sabin of Rehoboth, MA" which dead ends at Lloyd with a brother named Ray Edmund, and a sister, Phyllis Loraine.
