I'm having that exact same problem!

My tree ends at my great grandfather who was born in Italy, went to Argentina, then came in via banana boat. Never spoke about his family either...

If you find any solution, let me know. I'm having that same dead end.

Hello Salatinos. I am Darlene Salatino Liddick. My grandfather, Pietro Pasquale Salatino came to America from Cosenza, Calabria, Italy. He settled in Tacoma, Washington. He married Norine C. Zinga here. My father is Frank John Salatino. He is one of five childdren. If anyone has other information about the family back in Italy, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Lisa: Sorry I didn't run across your post sooner. I believe I have data on your great-grandfather. Arthur and my mother, Rose Salatino Lowery, were 1st cousins living in a Tacoma neighborhood heavily populated by immigrant families from Cosenza, Calabria, Italy. The info I have came from a researcher in Tacoma and it gives Arthur's ancestry going back several generations. Also, I looked up and transcribed his obituary. My understanding is that Ralph is the American version of Raffaele. In fact, my father was Ralph all the way through elementary school. With names like Dominic and Ralph (Raffaele) being passed down through our families, it sounds like somewhere (however far up the chain) our families may be named after the same original Dominic and Ralph. The tradition goes on with my brother who also is named Dominic.

My grandfather came to the US in the 20's before bringing the whole family over in the late 40's when my father was 8.

hi, ur post really caught my eye because my great grandfather was arthur salatino. i kno that he came from italy and came to ny. he met my great grandmother, marie salatino somewhere in wa because she was an indian it the cowlitz tribe. e mail me, please and there might be a relation.

Hi Matt, this sounds interesting. My father was Dominick (that is the way he spelled it) and I have a brother Ralph. I do know that names were passed down from generation to generation. I know nothing of my father's family. He came here when l6 years old. I do know that his father left when he was young to find work in Germany, and may have had another family there as well as my fathers family in Italy. I always understood he was from Potenza. My mother was Josephine Natale from Bari. Born in Capursso. Her entire family was here at one time and 3 of her sisters remained in the US and lived in OH and WV. If you think you can be of any help whatsoever I would appreciate hearing from you.

I too am looking for information about my father he spelled his name Dominick Salatino, from Potenza Italy. Came to this country when approx l6 years old. Born June or July 1882. Came into this country through Argentina as far as we know on a banana boat. Never spoke of family other than he had a sister who was blind and never married. Believe he had a niece who was a doctor but dont know her name. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Francesco Salatino, came from Calabria to Argentina, around 1910, his son Serafin, was my grand father. My father, Francisco ( also) is now 84, I'm 57, and I had vive children, one of my daughters had his first son in Spain, (Martin) you can see their photos in www.salatino.com.ar

Wendy, My family history originates in Calabria, Italy, I believe in the heel of the boot. I'll have to ask around as to the names of the elders, but Diego rings a bell.
I'll check and let you know. Our family settled in N.Y.C. and there are several Salatinos in that area and further upstate.
My brother lives in N. Carolina and I live in Florida.

My Grandfather's name also was Dominic. He was from Bari (in the heel of the boot). The family moved to Chicago in the 40's, and then some moved back to Italy later. I have 2 aunts in Bari and one here. My father's name is Raffaele. According to him, his family's tradition is to name sons after grandfathers, so Dominic Salatino's may be named after the same person (who knows how far back however). There are some Salatino's out here(Chicagoland), but we're not closely related to any of them as far as we know.

Hello, my name is Wendy Salatino and I am really interested in looking for my relatives that I never had the chance to meet. I am the granddaughter of Dominic Salatino from Sicily. He married my grandmother whose name is Josephine Natalia from Naples, Italy. They came to the United States and resided in Follansbee WV niether one of them are living and I know that there has to be more of us Salatino's out there.
