Hi, I am Rene' Saldivar living in Kearney Nebraska but I was born in San Benito Texas. I have 4 Uncles and father still in the valley and their father was Augustine and mother was Santos Serna Saldivar. Agustines parents lived in Matamoros Mexico and both passed away at nearly 100 years old, not sure of exact age. I visited them several times when I was very young and am surpised that the Saldivar name might be Jewish.

All of my Saldivar Family live in Southern Texas (RGV), though my sisters live in North Carolina and Austin, Texas now, and I just moved to Saint Louis, MO. My Father is Saldivar and my Mother is Farias. From what I see most of the Saldivar family they are either fair or olive skinned with jet black hair (but newer Saldviar family are very light skinned with blonde hair). and they were all tall and thin/slender but very strong people, strong attitude, will, everything about them is very dominant -- even the women, oh geez don't even get me started on that. haha. My grandmother and grandfather had 9 Children, one died young. There are 6 living now, and my father is the youngest of them all. My father always said his ancestors came from Spain. I will come back later to see what other information i can gather.

Greetings,
My name is Manuel Raul Saldivar and I reside in Brownsville, Texas. My father was in the United States Armed Forces and we relocated to Ft. Wainwright, Alaska in 1959. We were later transfered to Seward Air Force Base in Smyrna, Tennessee in 1965. I relocated back to my birth city in 1980. Unfortunately, I have no historical data on the Saldivar Family. My greatest wish is to find some history and lineage on this Family name. My mothers name was Marcela Ademina Hinojosa de Saldivar and my dads name was Guadalupe Saldivar. They were originally from Matamoros, Tamaulipas Mexico. My grandmother was Andrea Saldivar. My grandfather was Jose Saldivar but died at a very early age. My father was 8 years old when my grandfather died. He was sent to live with an uncle named Manuel Raul Saldivar here in Brownsville, Texas. If someone should tie this information to other Saldivar's, please let me know.

Best Regards,
Manuel Raul Saldivar

I see you met my cousin Roel Rodriguez asking about Agustina Saldivar. I am Tony Garcia, great grandson of Agustina. Her son was Florencio and his daughter was Maria Antonia. Both died in Mission and are buried there at San Jose Cementary on South Stewart Rd, south of the expressway 83.

My mother Margarita, daughter to Librado Saldivar and Elodia Guerrero, married my father Trinidad Tovar in San Antonio, TX in 1941. Mom's maternal and paternal family comes from Montemorelos Nuevo Leon; and dad's paternal side is from Texas, going back to his great grandfather or great great-grand father whose name was Pantaleon Tovar. I have a painting of him. My paternal grandmother(born at a railroad shelter(named La Venadita) in Mexico had a sister, that I know of, her name was I think Ignacia because we called her Tia Nacha she had two sons; I also remember my paternal grandmother's father Angel Almanza (my great-grandfather)
My maternal grandmother had 2 sisters that I know of Altagracia(married name Ponce) who lived in Monterey NL and one that lived here in San Antonio whose name I can't remember but her married name was Lopez (she had 1 son and 3 or 4 daughters).
Mom had 7 brothers and 3 sisters (+2 that died in infancy);
Dad had 1 step sister Jesusa Diaz and 3 sisters Elisa, Consuelo and Otila, and an older brother that died - Julian.
that is about all I know on the Tovar, Saldivar, Guerrero

More on Saldivars

I remember a gg aunt Estefana from Matamoros. Her father was Jesus Irineo Saldivar. She lived in a room in back of house. Her son used to sew for a living and had an old fashioned sewing machine in the living room in front of window facing the front of the house. I remember that gg aunt Estefana was blind. My mom said that she used to have to cook for a bunch of people and she would go get her face wet in the cold creek to cool off. And that is why she went blind. This aunt's husband fought with Pancho Villa and passed away in war. That aunt would travel back and forth from Laredo to Matamoros. (That is what my mom told me) Does anybody have any memories similar to these? This was a long time ago. Like 40yrs ago. I know that this aunt's son had a daughter in Chicago. I met a cousin yrs ago from Chicago. He was visiting Houston Texas and stayed at my place and we stayed up along with my sister and just had drinks and talked all night. His name was Joe Saldivar. This was way before I got into looking up our genealogy. This family originated from Monte Morelos NL back in 1828 that’s as far as I can trace them. Ops I just found another gggg grandpa don’t know the yr exactly but it would be late 1700’s. PS another memory, I remember going to Matamoros and there was a relative (gg uncle I think) that used to make guitars. I think he had a store. Hope someone recalls some of this.
You can e-mail me at texashybrid@hotmail.com (if you want/or have other information.
Saldivar's from Monte Morelos N.L (Texas now)

I just found this website. And to answer a question about "are the Men that come from the Saldivar blood BIG, broad shouldered, tall, dark, thick hair, strong attitude, strong willed". I can say that in our family and cousins that I know of. There are a lot of tall strong shoulders, most of us are medium to light complexion. Black to dark brown hair. I am a girl and I was 5’8 til I got older and started shrinking. (or everything is getting taller, hehee!!) But as far as strong willed...I think it is more in the girls in the family. I always joked that my mom told my dad I am going on vacation and I will see you in a few days, then he was stuck with us kids (we were 11 in all). Hehee!! I don't ever remember her asking him if she could. Most of the older kids were gone by the time us younger once were growing up. I tracked our roots all the way back to 1828 Monte Morelos N.L to a Juan Jose Saldivar and Apolonia Alanis. As for us and the cousins I know. We are from Harlingen (but all moved away now) and the cousins are mainly from Houston. My family is very scattered Houston, Austin, Ga, Fl, SC, Japan so on. Growing up I always heard that we had family some where in the Valley. But I have no clue who they were. They might even have lived in Harlingen too.

Sorry this was long winded :-)
Hope to hear from you or any one with any info. By the way my mom was Saldivar and we were Rodriguez by my dad.
I can e-mail a picture of my G granddad (we think he is g granddad, but could be further down the line) if you email me a response. texashybrid@hotmail.com
Yes, Augustina is the youngest. She married Susano Garcia. Her brothers were Nacario Saldivar and Librado Saldivar. I branch off from Librado Saldivar my Great Grandfather. I have looked for information on Reyes Saldivar and his wife Carmelita Ramirez. They lived in Santa Maria, Cameron County, Tx. Not much luck. Please contact me @lwells6691@aol.com

Hello, My name is Sara Saldivar-Anzaldua I was born and raised in McAllen. My father was Guadalupe Roberto Saldivar son of Nicolas and Bernarda Saldivar, he was born in San Benito, Texas and raised in McAllen, Texas along with his brothers and sisters, Samuel and Cuata Garcia (from grandmother's first marriage), Manuel, Juventino, Elias, Jose, Apolinario, Ludevina, and Alicia. As I understand my grandfather's family was originally from Spain and migrated to Mexico where they were succesful land owners and military personal who eventually made their way into Texas. My gradfather was a widower in his 40's with a large family who settle in San Benito, Texas before he meet and married my grandmother Bernarda Garza- Garcia who was only 20 years old and a widow herself. I didn't get to meet my grandfather Nicolas but abuelita was with us until 1997, she died at the young age of 82 years. I must say... the McAllen-San Benito Saldivar family tree is a very good looking bunch, with features of fair skin, dark hair, and colored eyes. (Spainards)

I have no idea what my great grandfather's first name was but as far as I know most generations from Brownsville, TX.

Once I met accidentally an old lady whose last name was Saldivar, too. She seemed to know a lot about the Saldivar family in Nuevo León (the state between Coahuila and Tamaulipas)

She told me that there were three Saldivar brothers that came from Spain about four hundred years ago or something.

I remember two of the 3 names: Virgilio and Alejandro.

She said they spread the Saldivar name in the northeast of Mexico.
