It seems you have several names in comman with the family I am looking for. My Father's name was Walter Salmon, he had 1 brother name John Manual and 1 sister name Theckla, she was named after her Mother. His father's name was Peter. I do not know how he died,but I know his wife did marry a Robert Dunn, and he did take care of my Father until he joined the Army in or about 1913. Most of my information is not varified,

Does anyone know anything about my Great Uncle.
? I have picture of him at about 3 years old. I heard my Mom talk of him but cannot find any sign of him in census. He would have been born around 1920ish and possibly had the same name as his Father Richard. They lived in Elkton Ky. The story was told he was running home one day and lightening stuck him.

So far, I have been able to validate very little of what is posted online for him:

Online he is listed as the son of Thomas Salmon and Elizabeth Read of Harpenden, Herts, England.

But the only actual record I have found for him is the will he left in Culpepper County, Virgina dated 26 Apr 1748 and proved 22 Nov 1751. Aside from his children, he mentions the first name of his wife, Mary. John Stapp, a witness, is later proved to be the husband on one of their daughters, Ann Salmon.

The information concerning the marriage of Thomas Salmon and Mary Theriot must have come from somewhere, even if untrue. My search through the records concerning William Theriot, the presumed father of Mary, has not yielded any associations with the Salmon family, much less proof.

I have combed through countless online trees trying to find actual sources for the widely assumed marriage of Thomas Salmon, father of Ann Salmon Stapp, and Mary Theriot.

So far, I have found no real evidence for this union. In fact, what little I have found on William Theriot, Mary's claimed father, is that he had only two daughters, Hannah and Elizabeth.

Does anyone have any information on either of these families that would shed more light on this subject?

I am looking for information on a Salmon (possibly Joe Lee) who may have been from Texas. He would have been in the Navy and in Philadelphia immediately after WWII, possibly on the USS Langley while it was being prepared for decommissioning. He may have married a Lois Helen Weikel around 1946 She was from Philadelphia, PA. They had one son (possibly named John) in 1948. Looking for any record of a marriage between Lois Helen Weikel b. 1927 and Joe Lee Salmon b. 1925.

Some of the family immigrated to Australia and some to the United States. Does anyone have information on the name change???

Ann was born in Clonaslee, Laois, Ireland.
Not sure where Edward was born but I know they had a farm in Coolagh - which is very close to Clonaslee.

I'm looking for information on the Edward and Ann (Daly) Salmon family. I have found them in the 1901 and 1911 Irish census but have no info after that. Ann and Edward were both born approx. 1864. Their children were: Michael, Luke, Joseph, Mary, Edward, James, Ann, Patrick and John. I believe they had a farm in Coolagh. Patrick went to a monestary in Australia. The children were born 1891-1905.

William M. Salmon born June 3, 1860, & Julia McCulloch were my grgreat grandparents - their daughter Lottie Mae was my great grandmother. I have a copy of William's death certificate & it says his father was Jake Salmon, but no information for his mother. The death certificate also says William's father was born in AL which, if accurate will mean all the info I now have before William is wrong. Hi might be able to help you with the Salmon family which I am researching. Thomas Salmon lived at Kilpatrick, Westmeath and he had a son Christopher one of at least five son's; the fifth son Michael Joseph sold Kilpatrick about 1888/9 and may have emigrated to Australia one of his sisters Kate married into my extended family. Christopher Salmon married and so far I can only account for two of the girls who married two Austin brothers.

I checked modern road map and the town Port Laois is 44 miles from my Catholic Daniel Salmon family, who lived east of Nenagh, Tipperary after marriage to Margaret Uriell in 1835, but Pat and Catherine are not names that have come up in any of my research. Nenagh District Heritage Society was most helpful to me. They have 18 registers with Salmons in all of them, but no way to connect one to another. They did have Daniel Salmon's marriage record and children's baptismal records with sponsors listed. Then I broadened my research to include Baptismal sponsors to children both in Ireland and sponsors to childrens' children in church Syracuse, NY. In Ireland some sponsors were mother's siblings. Some were other Salmons but I have no way of knowing if they are siblings or cousins to Daniel
I would think that it best to find the Heritage Society in Laios. They should be able to lead you to church records.Maybe learnig witnesses to marriage and baptismal sponsors will help learn mother's maiden name. Either ask about location of heritage Center or church in Laois message board or through information 411 contact any church in Laois area to start. Good luck. Have fun.

Pfc. Zachary S. Salmon, 21, of Harrison, Ohio, died Jan. 12 in Kunar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

The parents of my Manchester Salmon's were John Salmon b. 1783 in Shrewsbury, and Anne Brookes b. 1800 in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. Could it be that this family is cousins with your Oldham Salmon's?
