Joseph.

I am a cousin through your grandmother (we called her Auntie Hennie) Annette. My grandmother was your grandmother's sister (Nell Mahfet-Militello) My mother is Rosmarie Militello-Pifko. I am new to this genealogy stuff (just starting, actually) and would like to find out any information about the Mahfet Family. How much information do you have on the Mahfet's? How is your grandmother? We use to see her at a restaurant in Michigan (Ike's) when I went home for a visit.

Karen Brown (Pifko)
Branson, MO

You are right. There are very very few Salomes. I have not made the connection yet to the middle east but I am trying and I will post if and when I do.

My Grandfather Joseph Salome came over from Lebanon to Detroit in the very early 1900 from Beruit at age 5 with his parents. He had four children, two sons and two daughters after marring Annette Moffet in the 30's.

I am Joseph the 3rd and my son is the fourth.

We have some limited ancestral information but not much.

hey :) my last name is Salome and I'm form Lebanon, my grandfather Joseph Salome had 3 sons and 1 girl (my aunt, uncles, and dad ) and i have a brother. my 1st uncle has 1 son, adn my other one has 2. Thought,(from my dad's side) my dad's cousins don't have Salome as a last name , i don't know why even my dad don't know...and he doesn't know anything about them, and about the history of his family ... so the Salome name is mysterious.... :P

I do know they came to United States from the boat in Portugal and I think maybe the wife was portuguese because her name was Thomasina but I don't see a whole lot of portuguese Salome. And it seems middle eastern descent of some sort. I can send you what i Have but it ain't alot. I do have a joseph salome in there that is my husband's great uncle though.

(Anna) Catherine Salome Saum Keyser, born c. 1768, married Valentine Keyser, had five children, died November 30, 1841 and is buried in Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover, Luzerne County, PA. Her brother John's second wife was named Catherine Solome (?), according to a Jan 5, 2001 posting on Saum site by Laura Armetta, furry1000@aol.com.

does anyone know anything about the Salome lineage in Northampton Co., PA prior to 1800?

Thanks.

Richard Ward
richardward@optonline.net

salome history

I have just begun searching the net for info about my family on my father's side...Joseph Salome. His father was also Joseph who came to Canada from Beirut in the early 1900's. His wife was Emily Rapheal (?spelling).

I noticed that you, Kathi, said your husband is a Salome...there seems to be very few of us on this earth!! All of my father's family is dead including my Dad and my brother is the last male of our family...he has a daughter but no sons so the Salome name will disappear in this part of the world when he is gone.

I would love to see anything anyone has acquired about the Salome family.

My father never spoke of aunts or uncles so I have no idea if we have any living relatives in Lebanon or around the world. He had 5 sisters and only 1 brother who had no children so you can see we are fading fast!!

I will try to get more info about my grandparents if you can help me.

thanks so much
