William, I am related to the Salsmans that you speak of.My GGGGrandmother was Deliah Myers, and she was a sister to Mary Myers. Deliah married an Abram Terpena, and their daughter Sarah, married my GGGrandfather John Hess. The Hess line is where I come from. The Salsmans still live near where the Terpenas settled in the early 1850s. You can still see parts of the foundation from this. This area is near Galesville, Wis. in Trempealeau Co. Wis. I was born and raised in this same area.John Salsman's father's name William, and his mothers name was Lilly.John has 4 children, and I just saw his 2 boys the other night at a basketball game.We pretty much grew up together.William I have much more information if you are interested, and I do know that John Salsman is interested in his family tree. Tell me about yourself, if you care to, so I can pass this info on.My name is Mark G. Hess, and I live in LaCrosse, Wis.,some 20 miles south of Galesville. My dad still lives on our farm, and his name is Norman Hess. He is 87 years old.Hope to here from you, and I will pass your info on. Have a good day. It is sweltering here. Very hot.

I have just finished reading your e-mails about the SALSMAN'S. I thought I found the correct family from using the surname spelled SALTSMAN, which was on my gr. gr. grandmother's death cert. But I have never been able to connect her mother's name of Elizabeth CONSTANT, to Peter SALTSMAN. I found the spelling different on the website of LDS.
There was a Peter SALSMAN, who married a Elizabeth CONSTANT. I have also found divorce records where Peter & Polly SALSMAN divorced. I know they are from around Green County, Kentucky, Where she { Mary C. Saltsman} married Samuel Richard PERKINS.
There are so many SALTSMAN'S who live in Barren Co. KY / & Barren Co. was taken from Green Co. KY.
My gr. gr. grandfather Samuel R. Perkins was from BARREN CO.
Can anyone help me with the 2 different spellings, Was Peter SALSMAN married twice, Where & who Elizabeth CONSTANT'S parents are, Who was THIS PETER SALSMAN'S father?
If this is the same person, then I have alot of info I would be glad to share with.

Sherry Herron-Davisson

I am stumped,& think I have hit the brick wall again. Is this Peter SALSMAN the same as the Peter SALTSMAN, son of John SALTSMAN who was born in 1790, & died 15-Jul-1852 in Green Co. KY?
I thought I had this done, but could not match the wife of Peter. On my gr gr grandmother's death cert. shows her father as Peter SALTSMAN, & her mother as Mary/Elizabeth CONSTANT.
My gr gr grandmother's name was Mary C. SALTSMAN-PERKINS, & was born 29-Aug-1857 & died 27-Oct-1938 in Jefferson Co. KY. She married Samuel R. PERKINS of Barren Co. KY { which was taken from Green Co. KY}. Can you help me decide which spelling is correct? I have read in records where a Peter Salsman & his wife Polly divorced in March of 1843. Could this have been Elizabeth Constant?

Sherry Herron-Davisson

Ricky,
I have just found out a HUGE mistake. You are correct that Mary C. Saltsman was married to SIMON PERKINS, and not Samuel PERKINS, as his son's death cert stated. Do you have any history on this family? I know her father was Peter SALTSMAN whose mother was a PENN. Her mother was Mary CONSLANT.

My email address has changed to ddavisson@insightbb.com/

Sherry

You said your g-g- grandmother was Mary C. Saltsman who died in Oct 1938. I have the name as Salsman, and that she married Simon Perkins, not Samuel. She would be my g-g- grandmother also if this is the same woman.
Did they have as children Edward Jackson Perkins b 11 Nov 1891, George Washington Perkins b 30 Oct 1884, Richard S. Perkins b 1887, and Mary Perkins b? ?
Also, is she and her husband buried in Pleasant Ridge Church Cemetary in LaRue County Kentucky?
I hope this is the same person, as I brick wall with her and hope you can point me in the right direction.
Feel free to ask any questions, and I will gladly share what I have.

ANDREW JACKSON SALSMAN

I am seeking info on Andrew Jackson Salsman who married Eliza Cline of which Lydia Salsman was born to them in 1881. I have very little info on any of the Salsman's and would appreciate any update. Lydia Salsman was born in Missouri and married to Charles F. Redmond in Gentry County Missouri on March 28, 1902.

This is interesting. My grandfather is Fred V Salsman. Walter is my great grandfather. I was told that Walter had a brother named George. Both George and Walter fought in the Civil War with the Pennsylvania volunteers. George unfortunately died sometime after the battle of Gettysburg.

My line is from Ky also. I really hope we are from the same line. I have some information on my line of salsmans. I am from Larue Co. Ky. My line came from Germany, to PA, to VA, to Green Co to Larue Co. But they filter out all over the place. Were are you from and who are some of your Ancestor's. My grandfather was Everett Salsman, his father was George W. Salsman or Saltsman. There are several different spellings for our Surname.
