Charles Sampson and Bertha had two sons.

I found out recently that Charles W. Sampson b. 4/15/1874 (he could have been born on 4/05/1874)in Buckfield, ME son of Colby and Caroline(Poland)Sampson married Bertha Ruggles not Bertha Clapp. Clapp is the maiden name of Bertha's mother Cora J.(Clapp)Ruggles. Rachel J.(Sherman) Clapp. raised her three granddaughters because Cora and her husband died when their daughters were quite young. Charles and Bertha had two sons, my father Robert N. b. 1904 and a brother named Wilfred Leroy Sampson b.1906. Many of my ancestors have been born, married, had children, and died in the same city I was born in or in the surrounding towns. Who knew?

I think we may have found the Sampson we were looking for. He was born in Beverley Yorkshire, and came to New Zealand in the 1840s. he and his brother were involved in the Gold Rush in Thames, then went to Marysville, where they became part of the Gold rush there.
They were friendly with the Ring family, who also lived in Thames New Zealand for a time.

I am not sure if this is related to the same Rings as U,howver now some of the Ring family also went from NZ to USA as they are listed on ship arrivals.

Not sure any of this will be of use to you, but no harm in sharing it. I do have a connection between Sampson/Ring so I thought I'd detail it here.

My records indicate the following:

Jesse C. Sampson (born 1859) and Sally Thomas Reynolds (born 1869) begat Arthur Green "Doc" Sampson (born 1890).

Arthur and Elsie Thomas McCord (born 1900) had 7 children. One of those children was Bobby William Sampson (born 1933).

Bobby died recently (2010) and his wife Peggy Ring still lives in Marshall County, Tennessee.

Hope that Sampson/Ring connection is a help. Let me know if uuseful, as I have many more details.

Hello,

I've come to a brick wall with my research into the life of Charles Thomas Sampson, son of George Bentley Sampson (abt. 1787-1855, England) and Henrietta Grey (abt. 1788-1826, England).

He was christened at Saint Luke, Chelsea, London, in 1819.

Charles married a Jane Harding at St Pancras Parish Chapel, Middlesex in 1840.

On the marriage certificate, his address was given as St Johns Wood, and Jane's as Kingston. I am unable to decipher his occupation, could be 'Soll'...

Wife Jane Harding, her father Chris (?) (dead), witness Ely Harding. Both Jane and Ely signed with a 'x'.

I have no idea what happened to either Charles or Jane after their marriage, or if any children were born to the couple.

Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

Thanking you in advance

Anne

Hi Johnnie, I'm Leslie. I found your mother on my family group sheets. Here's some information. I have plenty more but it is just too much to type, so if you'd like I'd be glad to copy family group sheets, pictures, records, etc. The furthest back that I've been able to go is to Harry Darhower. I think that he was orphaned because he shows up in the census when he was twelve , as living with a family named Engle. His name was originally Henry Dorheimer. He changed it after his discharge from the civil war. His discharge papers say he was born in Pennsylvania. He married Martha J. Spidle (daughter of David and Elizabeth Spidle), and they had three children: William (your line), Laura Frances(no Children) and Mary Etta(my greatgrandmother. Will send more-out of space!

Hi - I must be a cousin a few times removed. These are my gggrandparents. I cannot believe I found this on here. The story we are told by my Father is that his Paternal great grandparents went back to County Antrim (Belfast) where they wanted to live out their lives and are buried in the C
hurch grounds there. Their sons Tom and John came across the Great Lakes (on the ice in winter) to USA. My Father is still alive at 86 in Michigan. You may contact me at mjmarti@msn.com. I am in Colorado.
Fountain Sampson and Melissa Hickerson

Hi Jim,
Has been sometime since we last hooked up about the Sampson line. From this list note that a number of people are now interested in the line. Did find the Sallie Jollett web site most interesting and feel the mention of Fountain Sampson on this site is ours. Really came to a dead end in Tennessee as few early records still exists. Information on Fountain that I have found always has stated he was born in TN and believe he came to Missouri as a wagon driver. Sure he met Melissa most likely through Isaac Van Bibber who ran a tavern/inn in Montgomery Co. Missouri. Never have found their marriage. Melissa died while on a trip to help someone living in Macon or ajoining Adair Co. that was ill and history has it she took ill, and died on her way back home. I do not know who found her but she was buried beside the road as it was a hard winter when she died. Maybe they dug her up and buried her in Atlanta Cemetery with Fountain or they just put her name on the headstone and her body was never found. It is my understanding her body was never found.
This information came from my great grandmother, Louisa Sampson Kerr Williams Kenerson, daughter of Fountain and Melissa.
Elizabeth married to Tobias Sampson

Elizabeth Sampson was married 13 March 1796 in Gwinear, Cornwall, England. She was buried 12 Nov 1852, age 92, in
Gwinear. The 1851 census she was age 90, born Camborne, Cornwall, England. On the 1841 census she was 75 years old.
So this would make it between 1761-1766. The only one named,
Elizabeth Sampson, in the Camborne records was a Elizabeth to Hugh Sampson,jr and Elizabeth Uren, was chr 2 July 1769. The records did not state if a child or infant.
This couple, Hugh Sampson and Elizabeth Uren, were married
14 Sept 1765 in Camborne. There was another child, Alice,
chr. 4 Nov 1766 in Camborne.
Has anyone researched the Sampson/Samson of Gwinear -Camborne area? Was Elizabeth Sampson, wife of Tobias
Ingram, the child of Hugh and Elizabeth Sampson?

Hi

I recently started researching my ancestry. I knew my great grandfather was going to be tricky just from things my Mom had said when she was alive. I am looking for any information on Julius S. Sampson, he may have gone by Jules or Jewls. I know he resided in St Joseph, MO in 1892 when my grandmother Grace Mae Sampson was born. He married Mary Ritch (other spellings for her family I have found are Reich or Rich) She remarried on 02/11/1901 to an Eli Cary. Mary was born in 1865 in Wurttemburg, Germany. She died 01/08/1929.

Celestia Sampson 1822-1897

Celestia was born in St. Mary's, Quebec, Canada. She married Henry Cossey in VT or NY and they lived in Ticonderoga, NY. I am looking for her parents and siblings, and I'm particularly interested in whether she's related to Anthony Sampson (b.? - d. 1878 in Ticonderoga) who married Henry's sister Lucy Cossey.
