I may be able to help you with details of Abraham Sandys.
I have details from 1943 by a W.S. Eyre who was descended from the family of Rev Abraham second wife. Rev Abraham's son Abraham and daughter Anne who Married Rev John Roberts were two of 18 children of his first wife a miss Wade, he had a further 15 children by his second wife Maria Eyre. I have alot more on this family if you are still interested

I believe that the Abraham Sandys who married Sarah Ashworth was the son of Rev. Michael Sandys Jr. who left Dublin and relocated to Powerscourt.

Michael Sandys Jr. was the son of Rev. Michael Sandys of Dublin and he, in turn, was the son of Joseph Sandys of Dublin.

Abraham Sandys was not the most common name in Ireland in the 1700s but is proving a bit difficult to track as relatives named their offspring after other family members. Unfortunately the records are missing or not yet available to figure out all the family relationships and which Abraham Sandys belongs to which family group!

There is a marriage record in Co Wicklow (just south of Dublin) for an Abraham Sandys marrying Sarah Ashworth in 1779. The marriage record only lists their names, no ages or other information.

I don't have any other information about him. I'm researching the Ashworth family in Wicklow and am trying to connect Sarah.

Re: The Pedigree of Capt. James Sands of Block Island

James Sands, (why is he called "Capt."?) is certainly elusive. There is no record how or when he arrived in the Colonies. His supposed "brother," Henry and wife Sibil are in Boston, about 1638, apparently following Rev. Ezekiel Rogers, and a Margery Shove, widowed on the ocean voyage. (Margery is said by some to be Henry's sister??) It is documented when they leave the Church of Boston and go to a "new church" at Rowley, headed by Rev. Rogers. James would be about 16, if his birth date is correct. There is no record of James until he accompanies Anne Hutchinson, after her imprisonment, to E. Chester, NY, where he planned to build her a house. Then, it turns out, James m. Sarah Walker, Anne's niece, and they live at the new colony of Portsmouth, RI, for a few years with the Hutchinson's and Walker's, before settling Block Island. "Capt." James is described as a builder, stone mason, and later a sheep farmer...does he descend from the Archbishop Sandys family? It's still a big mystery.

While searching for Henry Sandys (Sibyl), I found that they were at the Church of Boston along with Margery Shove and her children, Elizabeth & George. Margery had come on the "John of London" with the Rev. Ezekiel Rogers' group of abt. 20 families. Rev. Edward Shove was to be Rev. Roger's assistant, before he died on board. Henry's family and Margery's left the Church of Boston "dismissed by silence of the church", to form a new church at Rowley, Mass. Margery owned 2 acres on Wetherford St., and Henry, 2 acres on Holmes St. I believe she remarried. Was she Henry's sister? Did they come on the same ship?? Maybe someday....
Sandys Family Ireland

Searching for information about The Rev. Abraham Sandys of Dublin, Ireland, in the 1700s. He was a minor canon at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, from about 1785. It seems he was well known but I can't find much about him. No date of birth, parentage, marriages or date of death have turned up.

His daughter, Anne Sandys, born about 1750/1755, married Rev.John Roberts in 1771 and they resided in Waterford, Ireland. She died in 1833.

He also seems to have had a son Abraham who married Maria Anne Eyre in Dublin in 1798. This son Abraham may also have been a clergyman, which complicates the search. This son probably lived in Galway in the early 1800s, near the village of Kiltormer, and had at least 3 children: Letitia, Louisa, and Abraham.

Rev. Abraham Sandys was involved in a scandal in Dublin when the wife of John Philpott Curran eloped with him. Mr. Curran sued the Reverend and a trial took place in 1795.

Any information about The Rev. Abraham Sandys and his family would be greatly appreciated.
I have searched for several years and still can't find the ship that Edward, Margery and George came over on and don't know why Edward died. I do know that the ship came to Boston in 1638 but again can't find the name. Not even on Olive Tree.
Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s
about Edward Shove
Name: Edward Shove
Year: 1638
Place: Boston, Massachusetts
Family Members: Father Edward
Source Publication Code: 1262
Primary Immigrant: Shove, George
Annotation: Date and place of settlement or date and place of arrival. I have Henry Sandys as her father but it is questionable
American Genealogical-Biographical Index (AGBI
Name: Henry SANDYS
Birth Date: 1585
Birthplace: Eng, Massachusetts
Volume: 153
Page Number: 9
Reference: Gen. I can find no records before that about Samuel in Hampshire, and thought that he may have come from another county

Samuel and Mary's grandson, Moses Sandy(s) went to Newfoundland about 1774.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

Edwin left Ireland in abt 1872 went to New Zealand and then to Tonga, where he died. His sister Jane went to England and married Michael Rafter. Family legend says that they were land owners in Roscommon after the Battle of the Boyne. I would be interersted to find Edwin's Tongan family.

Do you have any information about when your Sandys family left Ireland? Do you know if your ancestors had any relatives who went to Hampshire, England, or lived there??

Do you know if any of them went to North America?

I have an ancestor, Moses Sandy, who went to Newfoundland about 1774. His birthplace and date(possibly 1744 or 1760) are unknown, but think he came from Hampshire England, date of death 1819.
.
His wife, Mary was from England, birthdate 1751, birthplace in England, unknown. don't know where they come from before about 1700's, when the family shows up in Hampshire.
