I am looking for information on Thomas Sanson, born in WV, then moved to Pike Ky in his early 20's. In Pike KY he married Mary Hurley and raised his family. Lewis Sanson, the son of Tom and Mary, is my great grandfather. Lewis was born 12-16-1890 and died 12-6-1953. Lewis Sanson married Laura Gullett, who was born in Boyd KY. I only know the names of some of his siblings, Tom jr., Larkin, Lincoln, Jim, Mill, a sister named Vain. I know there are more but I am having a hard time finding records. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
I would say you are definitely not descended from Charles Henri Sanson.
First, he executed the royal family in 1793 not the early 1600`s
Second His life and that of his family was very well documented,he has no children who could have moved to England and started a family.
I am doing a one name study on this family name, I have only just begun, I will see what help I can give you.
I am also putting a family history of the Sansons in Scotland on the web I have only just started but the early years are on line at (www.sansonfamily .co.uk)
let me know if you are still looking
lynn

I don't have a lot on John Sanson. The one that I have some info on was born about 1878 in KY, the son of Kemper Sanson and Polly McCoy. He married Mary McCoy and they had at least two sons Elliot and William. These three men were killed in a boiler accident in Woodman, Pike county, KY on Jan 2, 1935. He was a lumberman.

In the limited records that I have, mainly census, I can not find a Elias, Hiam or Larkin connected with this John Sanson.

If I can be of any other help, let me know.

Hi Jeanette

I am hoping you still check this message board. I would be interested to find out about your Robert Sanson. If he is the one I have in my family tree i am a descendant of one of his brothers - thomas b 1807 - my records show that Robert was born 1817 - does sound about right? If this is the right family -yes we are descendant from Henri - Charles Sanson, the state executioner in France (who guillotined King Louis and his wife Maria Antoinette) in the 1600's. Please contact me on my email trishsanson@bigpond.com if you would like to discuss this line any further

Cheers

Trish

I checked my in box daily, so whenever you get time.

I think I just broke the link that people thought was there to Charles Henri. My great, great, great grandfather's name is all that I have. Andrew or Andre. And there is nothing in the Ancestral tree that is in The Legacy of Death book that would put him in the time frame to be a descendant of Charles Henri. Linked to the family? Possibly, but not a direct descendant.

Joseph Sanson is actually not French, his second wife _______ Sanson (I do not know her first name), is the one with the French Heritage. Joseph Sanson is actually Dutch and is his real last name begins with Van something. Joseph was married to his first wife when came to America. Then I assume he met his second wife and took her family name which is Sanson.

No, I thought I was originally linked that way, but found that I'm linked to an immigration lawyer, popular in Philly Jewish history...I've traced it back from there and found that my roots are not French as lead to believe, but from New Zealand.

However, if you believe you may go back to Charles Henri (the head-cutter) there are a lot of resources out there.

I'll send you that email with some more dead end leads I found, maybe what was a loss to me may be the way for you! =)

just to answer your ?...there are still a few, but not in Philly...now in Lancaster. David's neices Peggy and Mary Jo and his Sister-in-Law Peggy live there. Last I heard and seen David (mid 80's) he and his family moved to Pheonix, AZ where his brother William (my grandfather) also lived w/ Peggy and his 2 younger daughters. He had a relative (not sure who she was in relation) Martha who died a few years ago alone in West Chester. I know of her because my Dad was in her will via his Dad (Dave's brother). My brother David has his name b/c of some odd "keeping names of the Sanson ancestor" thing...hence me being one of a gazillion "Williams".

I guess my biggest dissapointment was the great family history that was told to me for years...then when I discovered the truth, it was a let down. Oh well, that's family for you...
