I know this is many years later but I am so sorry for your families loss. I was looking for Gwen today because we were in the Coast Guard together in Galveston Texas at the search and rescue station. We were pretty close(the only two females there really at the time) but lost contact around 1999 when I got out. When searching for her today I was very sad to have found this.

Mi mama y sus hermanos se criaron con los De La Paz.
CSANTA,

Let's compare notes, I have an Andreas Santa in my family tree, from Rokito. He married Anna Kossuth in nearby Vilag, Slovakia. See:
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/e/v/a/Elaine-Evan...

I lose track of them after their 1896 marriage in Vilag, and her 1899 sale of her portion of the family land to my great-grandfather. I'm wondering if they decided to come to America around 1899, and that's why they sold the land?

- Elaine
Tamara

Not correct. A common language was a must in the old days.
A map of Austria-Hungary http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/austhung.htm where 12 different languages were spoken.
The term "Czech" is being used incorrectly and to me suggests Slovak Republic. Hungary controlled present Slovak Republic. Up to 1918 the records would say Austria or Hungary. After the fall of A-H empire several new countries were formed and one was Czechoslovakia - 2 nationalities very similar in language. In 1993 Czechoslovakia became Czech Republic and Slovak Republic.
www.iabsi.com/gen/public
www.cisarik.com
www.iarelative.com
Have you located their manifest, his Draft Registration Form?

Hi, I'm trying to find out more about the descendants of George Santa (Jurica Sente), who immigrated to the US in 1914 from Yugoslavija. His wifes name was Kristina. She followed him from a place called Stubice to the US about 1919. They settled in the Cleveland, Ohio area and had two sons, George and Carl. George got married and had kids. As far as I know, Carl did not have any children. Kristina died early of cancer. Thank you for your help.

My great grandfather was Jim Santa. He was born, I think, between 1915 and 1925. I know that he was in West Virginia in 1944. His parents came over from Sicily. I'm not sure if he was born here or there. He died in the late 70's, early 80's (before 1982) in St. Petersburg, FL. Is anyone here in this Santa line or know anything about it?

hI TAMARA, I may have talked to you before but it has been a while since I have been on this site. I am searching the Santa Family that came from Rokito/Rokyto/Rikoto, Hungary.
His first name was Joseph/Jozef/Jozeph and hers was Mary/Maria. They came to Pennsylvania and he was working for the "steam railroad" in Glenfield, PA. which is a suburb of Pittsburgh about 7 or 8 miles out. They had one child with them Maria aged 4 or 5. They supposedly left two children in Hungary, Michael/Mike who came later as a teen and became my father-in-law and a daughter (can't find name) in Hungary. She was said to have a beautiful voice and sang in all the important churches of the area They came to us in 1904 or 5 and on the same vessel was a Peter Santa from the same town in Hungary although they spoke Slovak. If anyone has information on this Peter Santa,I would certainly appreciate hearing it. Also if anyone reading this has been to Rokito, I would enjoy hearing about that also. Thanks, Kay Santa

hola to you, too! i was reading your message and i, too have been told that las sant are all one and that we have family in San lorenzo and Caguas. I was born in the United states but my father was born in Ciales. he very technically refers to his birthplace as Ciales-al-fronton. he has said that when he was a small boy his faqmily would refer to alineage from Spain.
I have looked up so many genealogy websites and could only come up with a few results. A lot of sites think you are looking for santaclara or santa maria or santa cruz but never just santa. what i did find was that the santa family is castilian and that the family has its own coat of arms. this family seemed to be very prominent in spanish society if not royal. i used to wonder where my name came from, as a little girl growing up only knowing people expected me to bring them presents at Christmas. Now I know I am saintly, holy.

Hi, I got your message.
It was very interesting, especially, when you said that the Santa family are known artisans, because I was born w/a paintbrush in my hand and I've tried to figure out where my passion for art came from.
My mom said that she knew a man 20 years ago at her jobsite who told her that the Santa family he knew of were of the Bayamon region and that they raised paso-fino horses for dancing.
I, too, have that problem of being a Santana or Santiago or Santos. It feels good to have someone to share this dilemma.
My grandfather's name was Juan Jose Santa.
My great-grandfather's name was Gracias Santa. My father told me a story about my great-grandfather: he was a woman's advocate back in the days of Puerto Rico when it was customary for men to beat their wives. He had two deformed arms but that did not stop him from putting the women's husbands in their place. He would use his legs and "kickbox" these men whenever he caught them in the act of abuse.
So my great-grandfather was sort of a town hero.
I'll keep searching.
Since the Santas are all one, I'm probably related to your husband.
Adios!

Hi! You know, come to think of it, I have a cousin on my fathr's side of the family who is an artist just like myself. Why do not ask your son to do the cover for you? It would be so nice to have your own son illustrate what you yourself have written. Unless, of course, he has declined or you need an impartial artist to illustrate for you. I have taken classes in high school and college to enhance my God-given talent. I have have also taken a graphic arts course.
I haven't been able to get much experience out there since I am considered such a novice in the graphic arts field. Manual art has been on the back burner since I've been pursuing my minor-education. Yet, as an artist, it has been said that I am good with still lifes, portraits and details and I'm not afraid of color. Fortunately, for me and, unfortunately, for others, I try not to do work that does not glorify the name of Christ. I am a born again Christian and it would be disrespectful and dishonest to my Lord and to myself to engage in Christ-demeaning work, not to say that your work is because, of course, I haven't seen it , yet. Thus, I hope you can understand my hesitation. Do not think I haven't entertained the positive asppects of you offer.

Janin

I read the message board and to my delight I saw your message to Leonard Santa and then to my surprise I read your refrence to a Robert Santa whom came to visit in Italy. I think that may have been my cousin since I know of no other Santa's in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have always been very curioos about my Italian heritage. My father says that we are from a town called Castelrossa in Northern Italy. Is that the town in which you are from? Could you please E-Mail me? I would love to know any information you may have. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SANTA SURNAME

Dear Leonard, for a while now I have felt
like I was losing it entirely. The only
Santa's I could find were from Italy. I
KNOW, for a fact that my Joseph Santa, his
wife Mary and two children came from
Hungary/Slovakia although the 1910 cenus says
they came from Hungary/Slovenia. Also next
door to them on the census is a Peter Santa.
In the Pittsburgh area there are many Santa
families but unless Peter Santa turns out
to be a relative, none of them are related
to us. I have known some of them for a
number of years and they also say that the
name in Europe was pronounced SHUNTA OR SHANTA. They also left an older daughter
in Europe so I still have a lot of searching
to do. Grandparents Santa both died before
any of our generation was born, she in 1911-
12 and him by train accident in 1920. If
you have any information about Santa
name in Europe, I would appreciate hearing
it. Thanks Kay Santa

Tamara Riley, sorry I was unable to reach
your email address. The Joseph Santa I
am inquiring about married Mary _______
in Austria Slovenia, came to US and died in
the Pittsburgh area and died in 1920. He
had four children with Mary; Michael, Mary
and an unknown name female child (they left
in Slovenia) and then had Ann in 1906 in the
US. If you think this could be your Joseph,
maybe I just have a wrong name on the wife
but I don't think so. I am at the proverbial brick wall on this family, at least until I find what boat they came on.

Re: SANTAS IN PITTSBURGH

Hi, my name is Scott Santo. My Grandfather's name was Peter Santo (Santa or Shanta). I have reason to believe that for some reason the spelling of our last name has been changed, to what purpose I am unsure. My Grandfather had 1 brother that I am aware of, his name was George. He immigrated from Hungary around 1910. All the information that I have is very sketchy at best. Both brothers settled about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh and each had many children. My Dad had five brothers and three sisters. Please email me if you think there may be some connection. My Aunt Lorraine is still alive and may be able to shed some light on the situation. ssanto@dp.net Thanks!

Hi Lillian,
Some of my relatives spell their names either Santa, Santas, and even Santos. They are all from Puerto Rico. My father Is Ernesto Santa (sometimes they call him Tati) He was in the merchant marines. Sometimes he used an alias of Marino to avoid child support. My Mother is Carmen Torres. My uncles are Guiermo (William)Torres, Miguel Angel Torres, My Aunt is Blanca Iris Torres, she married a Palmer. This is on my mother side. On my father side I didn't know too much who all his brothers and sisters were. I only know these names Pepin Santa, Rafael Santa, Manuel Santa, Robert Santa, and a cousin of my father's name Bebe Solano or Santa. I have two cousins name Robert Santa. Pepin Santa's wife was call Petra. Solano, Rodrigues (not sure of spelling), Lopez, Perez, Ayala, and Rosario. These Surnames are from both sides of the families Paternal and Maternal. I do remember ome greataunts name Nati, Juana Maria, Carmen all were sisters and their maiden names were Solano they were related to both my grandmothers name Josefina, and Enacarnacion. My greatgrand mother was refer to as Mamita Isabel and My greatgrandfather was called Papito. I not sure of the first name. Some say Mateo and some say Damaso. So any help you can give me. If you ever been to New York and I think you are who I think you are. We met as children.
Please call me at (515)727-5805.

Your cousin Zaida
