I just found your message from 11 July 2006 concerning the Dal Santo and San Dona/Sandona family.

My grandmother was Linda Dal Santo b. 1886, daughter of Domenico Dal Santo and Giuseppina Sandona. Linda left Seghe di Velo d'Astico in 1913 to come to Illinois to marry Guerino Fontana, who had come to America in 1902 from Tonezza del Cimone. I only know that Linda had a sister named Augusta Veronese, possibly a twin brother Lindo. Velo is very near Caltrano, I believe. Any connection?

Unfortunately I am not sure how accurate his year of birth is as according to my great aunt he didn't pay particular attention to how old he was.

I got the year of his second trip here wrong it is actually supposed to be 1904.

I don't know for certain she did I was told that he came over before his final visit in 1904 and he came over with his first wife and went back to Italy after she died to find another wife. I do know he was in Italy in 1902 as his oldest son was born there in Sept of 1902 and according to the 1910 census he and his second wife were married that year.

He came to Milford, Massachusetts in 1904 with his second wife, his youngest daughter from his first marriage and his son from his second marriage. The took up permanent residence there.

Santo/Sando Grillo

I am looking for a relative who came from Italy according to his 1910 census record in 1895 possibly under Guiseppe Santo, Santi or Sando Grillo. I've seen every variation of the name but no matter how I search I cannot find him, though my family is positive he came over twice and I have found him with his second family coming over in 1902. In 1902 it listed his last residence as Tusa. I cannot find him nor his wife whose name unfortunately no one really knows. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

He was my 4th great-grandfather.

I would love to hear anything else you may have on the Santo family! Every time I've looked at that name it's seemed out of place being found in Germany, but your family lore may have just proved why!

I am originally from AuSable Forks NY, Clinton Co. My mom's mother was Harriet (Hattie) Santo (married John Joseph Rondeau), the brothers and sisters I know of were Cordelia (married Joseph Powers) Florence (married Fabian Tellier) and then a brother Clarence. I believe the name was derived from Santonge, but I am not sure.

I know this is a long time from your original post, but who knows. Good luck
Bryon

I have very little information about my grandfather's family and would like to know if any family of Francesco Santo has information about the Procopio family. My grandfather's name was Gregory (Gregorio) Procopio and he came to America in August of 1910.
Dear whom it may concern,

My cousin is David Seal, and he has posted the Dal Santo connection on line for me. My father was Giovanni Dal Santo, born 28 Jan 1915, Caltrano. I am very interested in any Dal Santo or Sandona connections coming from Caltrano. I have a data base of approx. 5000 names mostly centred from Caltrano, a few from other towns. When was Ampellio born?
My grandfather Francesco Bortolo Dal Santo was born in 1886, his father before him was Giovanni Battista Dal Santo, born 1854, his father before him was Nicolo Dal Santo, born 1811, can I help you in any way?
Sincerely,
Maria Thompson (nee Dal Santo)

Anton came to US with wife Barbara and four chldren. Apparently Barbara died and he married Magdelena Welley. Had five more children including my GGgrandmother Carolina Santo who married Charles Joseph Portrey Sr. Also Anton's son Lawrence (son of Barbara) married Catherine Portrey, Charles' sister. I have records from Germany on Anton and Barbara's family, but nothing on Welley.Carolina had several siblings including John, Elisabeth, Joseph and Eliza. John was born in Kentucky and the rest in Ohio.

According to German records, Franz Anton Santo m. Maria Anna entz in 1800. There chldren were Anton, Michael (died at ge 12), Helena (died at 2 mos.), Leopold, Theresia (died at 6 mos.), Marcus, Theresia (named for deceased sister), Stephan, Johann Adam, and Barbara (died at 6 mos.). Stephan, Anton, Leopold and Johann Adam all emigrated to the US.
Anton came with his wife and children in 1834 according to port records. I have a report from a genealogist in Germany done this past winter. I can send you copies of the family record sheets. The copies from the German family books are currently with another family member. They are too much to copy, so I sent the whole booklet the genealogist sent. Let me know your mailing address and I'll send you copies of the family record sheets.

Hello Charles,

I have been researching the Le Santo, Lezanto and Santo family for a number of years. It is my husbands family name.
The Le is a mystery, my husband was told that alternate generations used it. an example of this is that my husbands grandfather appears in the BIRTH MARRIAGE AND DEATHS Registers for England and Wales as Santo for Birth's and Le Santo for Marriage and Death. I have recently learn't that your ancestor JOHN SANTO, who married a Mary Rendle was BAPTISED in 1831 in ST WINNOW/ST NIGHTON in Cornwall England son of William and Phillippa Santo. John and Mary Santo had a daughter Helena Phillippa, they appear on the Canadian Census for 1881. It describes him as a farmer butcher. This fits in with family occupation back here in the UK. There are a number of people researching the Santo's in Australia and tthe USA, all desecended from on family from Crafthole Near Anony Cornwall. I have plenty if information.

Regards
Margaret Le Santo
Portsmouth
Hampshire UK
