Sapsford info?

I am Barry Sapsford in Wa. state, USA, I'm doing a family search for one of the Sapsford lines (I'm the oldest surviving and my daughter married to a Brit) that came out of the Essex (Edmonton, Middlesex)area. There are bunches of Sapsfords (with large families too boot) from this area and, in my case, with practically nil family records, so this is a challenge for this ancestry.com newbie. But do know a little of my grandfathers history. He was Samuel Sapsford (first wife Bessie I think?)born in Middlesex in 1887 to Albert T. and Mary A. Sapsford born in 1847 and 1850 respectively? Gets fuzzy from there. But conjecture go back to 1700 with Benjamin Sapsford and Ann Thompson, their son Benjamin married Susannah Speller in 1742 in Hertfordshire, one of their sons John (1745-?) married Ann Wren (1746-?)and had a son Benjamin in 1771? Or maybe it was another son Benjamin born in 1747? I've used some of the Essex parish records but all the Johns, Samuels, Benjamins and Elizabeths snippets are confusing. Also, how close Middlesex relate to Hertfordshire & Great Hallingbury? Middlesex no longer a city but part of greater London now?
Thanks for any input!

Rosetta Sapsford/Lomath/Davis UPDATE

My great-grandmother was Rosetta (Rose) Sapsford born in Bishops Stortford in 1858 (in the Union Workhouse I believe. Rosetta married William Matthew Lomath in 1878 in Newington Surrey which is where William was born on 1853.
They had 3 children as far as I know: William, George and Rose (my maternal grandmother). The family is shown as residing at 3 Brunswick Place, Newington in the 1881 census. William Mathew died in 1889 in Camberwell and the children went into a type of workhouse school: the Central London District School where they are shown as inmates in the 1891 census. Rosetta, at this census, is shown as residing in Bridge Road Battersea as “housekeeper” to a Mr Joseph Tracy and his son also Joseph.
Rosetta remarried in 1893 to William Davis and they had at least 1 child William.
I am researching my boyfriend's family for him and would be interested in any information on the Sapsford's. The Sapsford's that I am looking for came from England and moved to Hamilton, Ontario. His grandfather's name was Victor Sapsford and he married a Jennifer (He thinks this was her name. She died before he was born). They had three children and they are Gordon, Ed, and Winerfird. Thank you for any information that you can give me.

Rosetta Sapsford

Rosetta, commonly known as Rose, is my great grandmother on my mother's side. Her birth is registered in Bishops Stortford in the fourth quarter of 1857. I believe she was baptised in St Michaels Church Bishops Stortford on 29th November and that her mother's name was Emma. She married William Matthew Lomath in 1878 registered in the third quarter in St Saviours Southwark. In the 1881 census she is shown as residing at 3 Brunswick Place Newington which was in the St Saviours district. Her children were George, William and Rose, my grandmother born in August 1881. William Matthew died in Camberwell in 1889 aged 36 and the children went to the Central London District School which was a kind of workhouse. In the 1891 Census she is shown as residing at Bridge Road Battersea as housekeeper for Mr Joseph Tracy and his son Joseph. In 1893 the marriage register shows her re-marrying under her baptismal name of Rosetta (Lomath) but it does not appear that she married Mr Tracy which is what I was hoping for. If anyone out there makes a connection with Rosetta/Rose please get in touch.
Terry

My mother is called Rachael Sapsford. I was born in Essex, England. My father's family came from London originally, the East End near East Ham I believe. I haven't carried out any greta research into the family name but it is good to see the global spread.
It would be good if you could manage to get a rugby team together to challenge the might of England!! Long Live King Jonny.
regards,
Mark.
