Looking for definative information about the ancestors of Alice Savage born 1462, Clifton, Runcorn, Cheshire, England who married Rt. Hon. Sir William Brereton (1483-1541) around 1499.
Have found Ancestry member trees suggesting her parent were John Savage (1403-1463) and Dorothy Vernon (1452-1510), both born and died in Clifton, but these dates don't seem genuine as there is such a big difference in the birth dates of her parents (49 years!!!).

Hi, Just spotted your post about Savage family.

My Savages (mothers side of family) came from Crossgar in County Down, Ireland. Amongst the information given me by cousin Rose (aged 96), who still lives in the family farm at Woodside, Crossgar, is that there are relatives, who sent a letter, (sometime in the 1930's I think) from
"Lee's Hat Shoppe",
Parsons Boulevard,
Near Jamaica Ave NY.
The owner is a Miss Alicia Frances Savage.
A Robert Savage is mentioned in the letter.

I know we sometimes clutch at straws but my eagle eye also noticed your name as M WALTER and amongst one of our Savage families in Wexford there was marriage into the Nugent family who had married Walters from Thames Ditton, England.

Living as always in hope of more links and new information,

Mike Magee,
blackburn
Lancashire
England
Thomas Savage and Faith Hutchinson were from Boston and are NOT known to be related to the Connecticut Savage Family. The ancestry of the Savage Family of Middletown, CT is not known. So far we have not found his ancestors. Some people put the Savage family of Beeston as his parents. Many more put Thomas Savage and Faith Hutchinson and that is incorrect. The Boston Savage family lived in Boston and had their children there and were NOT in Middletown, CT.

Are you descended from the Middletown Savage Family?I am and if I can be of any help let me know.

I hope this helps.
Barbara McC
Sorry, Betty but I can't help. I was working on Thomas Viscount Savage who was very definitely in England, and his son very definitely here as well, and found some stuff on the internet suggesting that Thomas jnr was the one who married Faith Hutchinson. But he's very definitely not, so I was just trying to help to sort that out. I don't know anything about the Savage/Hutchinson line I'm afraid. Lyn B

PS I don't suppose you come from Hartford or do family history re Hartford in the 1890s ... I have a lost great grandmother from there ???

I wish I knew if we were related, but I can only go as far back as Ebe Savage born circa 1780. And I don't who his siblings were.....

It's a DNA test, you swab the inside of your cheek. If you go here, http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/savage they give you more information about the Savage Project and there's a link to order the test.

Very late to this party here, no one will likely ever see this. I am Roy Lewis Shults, grandson of Roy Lewis Shults, one of the children of Isaac and Sarepta. My father was Lewis Brandon Shults, and in addition to Vira Shults Clint, his older sister, he also had two brother, Roy Gail Shults and Howard Shults, now all deceased. All from Brownsville, Texas.

The wife of my grandfather was Maude Ella Brandon Shults. I have just started looking at my family genealogy, but my sister has been doing enormous research on it the past few years. Fascinating stuff, I must say. And nice to read all that is posted here.

Hi Ian - Ironically I have a very Irish last name (Murphy) but my Savage ancestor was French. Savage can be an Irish name, a Welsh name, English or northern France(Normandy) but in the Northeast US it was also the surname sometimes given to Native Americans if they married a European or got babtized. I also suspect that a man named Thomas Gardner chnaged his name to Savage when he came here from the Island of Gurnesy to fight against the British. If Thomas Savage and Maguerite marney had a son named Pierre (m. Marie Gauthier) then Thomas is my amcestor. My mother's maiden name is Savage. She didn't learn English until she went to school.

Hi Jim,

We may be related.

My ggg grandfather Norris Dodd (1811-1865) may be the brother of Jesse Dodd (1799-1881).

Your Jesse Dwight was named after Jesse Dodd who married Catherine McKinney. Hence, Kate as well.

I have information about Jesse Dodd and Catherine's other children. This is now posted on Ancestry.com. I have not been able to find much detail on the family besides through son, John McKinney and his wife's family. I have found nothing about Catherine McKinney, there are a lot of McKinney family and can't make any connection. Jesse Dodd is named in the book, Daniel Dod Family in America.

I would be pleased to share what I have and the lineage from Jesse Dwight to date and anything you may have on your family.

I look forward to hearing from you soon and learning more about Jesse's family.

My ggg uncle recalled that when he was young, Jesse visted his family at the homestead in Kewanee, Illinois.

Tony
