STIMSON/SAXON/GIBSON/KENT ~ KY & TX

Looking for information on the family of Henry B. GIBSON (1861-1914) and his wife Lillie STIMSON (1866-1912). They both were born & died in Kentucky. Lillie's mom, Mary E. SAXON, died sometime after her birth.

Her father Josiah L. STIMSON recorded on the 1870 Collin County, TX. census living with his parents, Isaac & Rachel STIMSON who had resided in Kentucky for a few years, coming from Virginia to Kentucky then in 1853 moving to Texas. They both are buried in Collin County, Texas.

My relative, Mary E. SAXON was a daughter of Melborne SAXON and his wife Mary KENT of Graves County, Ky. When Melborne SAXON died in 1873, he provided for two surviving children of his daughter in Texas; namely Thomas Melbourn STIMSON and Lillie STIMSON in Texas while they were still fairly young.

Evidently sometime following 1880, Lillie married Henry B. GIBSON and returned to Kentucky to live and have their family. If you know anything about these folks listed here, please reply.

Thank you.
Leslie Pierce Royce
Houston, TX

Ron,

I believe the Samuel Saxon in the 1820 census for Burke Co., GA is the son of Benjamin and Sara Green. The age doesn't match but the census may be incorrect. Happens sometimes. Benjamin's will of 1784 appoints his son, Samuel, as guardian for his daughter, Mary, making Samuel at least 21 then and 57 in 1820. He died in 1824. Samuel's wife is surely, Jemima Attaway, daughter of Joseph Attaway. The Attaways and Saxons were acquainted in Laurens,SC and all moved to Burke Co., GA and lived next to each other.
May I ask a favor? How do you know the children of Samuel and Jemima? I can't find any offical proof. Would love your help.

Linda

In reading these old posts I wonder if anyone actually received documents about these Saxons from Laurens County, SC. My husband descends from William H. Saxon also. I would like proof of his line in an old Bible or old documents. William H. Saxon, Adam Saxon of Choestoe, Union County, GA, William Elijah Saxon, Alonzo Saxon, Paul Saxon are my husband's line.
I would love to know what European country they descend from.

Juni

Melborne SAXON ~ youngest son of Joshua SAXON buried SAXON Cemetery, Graves, KY.

Hello SAXON Researchers;
Just a note to those descendants of Melborne SAXON b.4 Dec. 1816 in Claiborne County, Ms. Died 11 Jan. 1874 in Graves County, Ky. He was the son of Joshua SAXON (1760-1817) and his third known wife Medis INGRAM.
This past week I have added that family's grave information to the web pages of findagrave.com. for the SAXON CEMETERY.
I have a publication from the Graves County Historical Society, Vol. I. The cemetery was copied in 1981. It is the better part of 3 pages of information. I have begun to list the people buried there.
The surnames other than SAXON are: CALHOUN, SKINNER, GREGORY, MCMASTERS, GIBSON, STIMSON & YOUNG.

My research efforts allowed me to post the 'bio' part of the web page on that branch of the SAXON family. Medis INGRAM SAXON; who remarried Ferdinand WADLINGTON in 1819 in Trigg County, Ky. I am writing today because it concerns the slaves listed in Joshua SAXON, Sr.'s will. I hope to help all others who descend from this family.

Eleven slaves were named in the will of 1817:
James & wife Hayz - who went back to Kentucky with the widow SAXON.
George went to Kentucky with the widow SAXON. He was to help James & Hayz until the minor sons reached the age of 14 then to be emancipated. The oldest Orville turned 14 in 1828. He died in 1840.
Joshua SAXON, Jr. who remained in Ms. was given Moses.
Samuel SAXON - eventually moved to Arkansas given Harry.
Charlotte SAXON INGRAM remained in Ms. was given Jane.
Orville SAXON - went to Ky with his mom, was given Nancy.
Melborne SAXON - went to Ky. with his mom, was given Phebe.
Lucinda SAXON MILLER - stayed in Ms. was given Delie to serve until the minor sons turned 14; then emancipated.
Clarinda SAXON ANDERSON - stayed in Ms. was given Pompey.
Rachel was sold.

I hope to make contact with anyone who knows of other members of this extended family. If any of them are buried in the SAXON Cemetery in Graves County, Ky. and I haven't listed them; please contact me or join findagrave.com and contribute their information and link them to their family.

Thank you.
Leslie Pierce Royce
Houston, Tx.

George Saxon

George Saxon, about 1826 - 1871 was an unaccompanied and unassisted passenger on the Salacia which arrived Port Jackson, Australia 04 Dec 1850 from Liverpool, England. He resided at Mundalla and Bordertown in South Australia and was at one time a Police trooper for Tolmers Gold Escorts. Around 1855 he married Jane Mary Mullan and I have traced his family from there to the present day but cannot find a link prior to him being born/living in England. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Hi Cherry, Thanks very much for your reply. Since I posted my query I have made some leaps and bounds. I have now traced your grandfather back to his grandfather, George Saxon 1826 - 1871, who arrived at NSW 04 Dec 1850 on the Salacia (unassisted passage). I am having difficulty finding any ancestors in England at this stage. I have the names of the twin girls who were stillborn and found that Ada Elizabeth was a musician of some note in that she had two hit songs "Hold me in your arms tonight and A Soldiers Dream". They can be purchased through the National Library. If you have a look at my Saxon Family Tree in the Public Member Trees you will see I have very little information on your side of the family. What I do have was gleaned from the South Australian newspapers and may or not be correct. If you wish to exchange info you can contact me at darylsaxon@bigpond.com. Thanks again, daryl

Hi Daryl, Roy Saxon was a brother to my grandfather George Henry Saxon who married Anna Behrndt in 1910. Roy came from a rather large family, by todays standards at least.
Jane Mary Saxon and Ellen Francis, twins, born 22/5/1879
George Henry Saxon, my grandfather, born 4/5/1886
James Charles Saxon, killed in a shooting accident at age 23 at Mundulla SA, born 27/8/1888.
Myra Saxon, born 10/4/1891.
Horace Raymond Saxon, born 31/8/1893.
Richard Ellis Saxon, born 4/11/1902.
Un-named twins, still born.
Roy, and lastly Ada Elizabeth, born 4/12/1905.
To my knowledge they are all now deceased, Ada being the last in about 2004.
I remember visiting Uncle Roy with my father. I was only a child at the time.
I hope there is something of interest to you in this post.
Kind regards, Cherry.
I do not know what happened to Malcolm Saxon or where he was from. He must have married Alma Everett when she was pretty young for she married Joseph Dixon (Dick) Russell in 1918. Alma & Dick show up on the 1920 census for Scott County, MS in the household of her parents, John P and Laura Everett. Her age is listed as 19. She would have to already have married Malcolm Saxon and either divorced or he died. I have had the fact that she married Malcolm S. for a long time but do not know where I got it. I have come across others with the same info but they do not know either. Thanks for your help.

Hi Leslie,

I realize this email is six years late, but I came across your posting in doing research on my family tree, and thought I'd respond anyway.

My name is Aimee Ford, and I am the great-great granddaughter of Lucinda Saxon and Johnston Peter Sandifer. Their daughter, Addie Mae, married John Loyd Pitts in Lincoln Co, MS in 1908 or 1909. They had three sons--Lloyd Franklin, Shelby, and Troy, who grew up in Wesson, MS. Troy was my grandfather. He had married Jeanne Alakson in 1946 and had three children: Sharon, Brandon, and Todd. I am Sharon's older daughter.

My great-grandmother was 10 when Eliza Pearce died (I can't recall that she said anything about her), but I remember a few things she told me about her mother Lucinda ("Grandma Cindy"), who was Johnston Peter's second wife. I have a picture of Lucinda and J.P.

Thanks for posting this message, and if you are still coordinating Saxon info or events, please feel free to keep me in the loop.

Your cousin,
Aimee Ford

Re: Charles Austin Saxon / Charles Austin Strawn

Charles Austin SAXON was legitimized and his name was changed to Charles Austin STRAWN on 23 Dec 1837, his presumed father being Hiram STRAWN. The question is, who was Charles's mother?

On the same page in 1840 Campbell Co., GA with Hiram STRAWN (who had in his household a young male aged 5-10, presumably Charles, but no females at all) was William C. SAXON (2m 0-5, 1m 20-30; 1f 0-5, 1f 5-10, 1f 20-30), probably a close relative (brother?) of Charles's mother.

This is probably the same William C. Atha SAXON died in Greenville Co., SC around 1816, leaving at least five children: Luraney, Noah, Mary/Polly, John, and Atha.

I have been unable as yet to identify the parents of William C. SAXON, or who his siblings may have been.

1860 Little River Co., AR
page 156 (Little River Township; P. O.
Hi Ray--
Here's the URL for the family page of your ancestor Charles Mote SAXON in my RootsWeb WorldConnect Project online database:

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

If you will click on that (or copy and paste it into your browser if clicking doesn't work), you will able to see what I have on Charles Mote SAXON's family. From that page, you can click on the other names to navigate to other pages, or you can click on the various buttons to produce reports of various types (pedigree charts, descendancy outlines, descendant registers, etc.), which you can print out if you'd like.

If you have questions or comments, I'd be happy to hear from you directly at ronhead@knology.net.

Best regards,
Ron Head (Montgomery, AL)
ronhead@knology.net

Roy remarried (after the death of Clara in 1937) Hester Ann Harris in 1939 and had four children: Pamela, Trevor, Ellis and Jane.
I believe Roy died at Hillcrest, South Australia in 1984.

Keith married Leatha Yvonne Moyle Jan 1940.

Martha Saxon or Saxton

Martha Saxon or Saxton married Robert Ellwood in Deane, Lancashire, England, on 16 April 1816. He was from Whitehaven, Cumberland, and they returned there soon after they were married. Martha's residence is not shown, but one of the witnesses was Christopher Saxon, suggesting that she may have been "of this parish" (ie Deane). Both Martha and Christopher made marks, and the vicar's handwriting clearly shows Saxon rather than Saxton, but other family members have written the surname as Saxton. Am interested in learning more of her ancestors and descendants.

Need help in identifying for sure there is a SAXON Cemetery in Trigg County, kENTUCKY. Another patron has posted information about three WADLINGTON Cemeteries along with a SAXON cemetery to be located in Trigg County.
Does anyone have knowledge of the location of these cemeteries? I use Find-A-Grave.com and have found only the Wadlington cemeteries.
I have information telling me from the post that my relative's son O.W. Saxon b. 1814 - died 1840 is buried in the Saxon cemetery in Trigg County, KENTUCKY.
Appreciate someone verifying there is such a cemetery.

Thank you.
Leslie Pierce Royce
Nora and John B. SAXON (occupation, lawyer) appear in the 1920 census of Wayne Co., MS with their children Mildred B., Buford, Theola, and Doris.

According to my records, John Byron SAXON (3 June 1881--28 June 1946) was a son of George Warren SAXON (4 June 1848--3 Apr 1920) and his wife Wilmoth Eugenia Bullard (Sept 1853--1927), both buried in Waynesboro, MS.

George Warren SAXON was a son of Alexander SAXON (b. ca 1803 SC; d. 1861-65, prob. in Camp Douglas, IL as a POW) and his wife Nancy WALLIS (b. ca 1807 SC; d. after 1870 when in Wayne Co., MS. Alexander & Nancy moved from Mobile Co., AL to Wayne Co., MS between 1850 and 1860.

Alexander SAXON appears to be one of five siblings whose parentage I have not yet been able to identify:

Toliver SAXON (b. ca 1790)
[1830 Anderson Co., SC; 1832 Cherokee Land Lottery in GA; 1840 Charleston Co., SC]

William SAXON (b. ca 1792)
[maybe in Newberry Co., SC in 1820; died 17 Mar 1849 Shelby Co., AL, where widow & children were in 1850 census]

John SAXON (7 Aug 1797 SC--16 Apr 1862 Clarke Co., MS)
[m. Nancy WALLIS, presumed sister of Mary WALLIS who married John SAXON, above; in Murray Co., GA 1834; in Mobile Co., AL 1850; in Wayne Co., MS 1860]

Georgia Genealogical Magazine (1984) p. 29:
Murray Co., GA census of 1834 has Martin SAXON, John SAXON, Jacob WALLIS, David SHIELDS, and Alexander SAXON as consecutive entries.
[This is in NW Georgia, not far from Rome, and near Cherokee Co., AL]

Best regards,
Ron Head (Montgomery, AL)
r o n h e a d @ k n o l o g y . n e t

Ambrose Joshua SAXON had one known child, a daughter (Nancy, m. By her, Joshua had two sons:

Orville SAXON (b. 1814 Claiborne Co., MS)*

Melbourn SAXON (b. 1816, d. 1874 Graves Co., KY)
(his sons):
Joshua (1837- ? )
Charles (1849- ? )

[Medis & her children returned to KY after Joshua SAXON's death--she married Ferdinand WADLINGTON ca 1818 in KY, and had other children.]

*Those marked with asterisks are certainly possibilities to be the father of Thomas A. SAXON (1841-1894), some more likely than others. Those not marked with (*) seem to be too young to qualify as possibilities, or we know enough of their families to make them unlikely prospects.

Obviously, more research is needed to identify the families (if any) of those marked above, and to evaluate their likelihood to be Thomas A. SAXON's father.

Thanks for the suggestion!

--Ron Head (Montgomery, AL)

Just stories from other family that she had a nick name by MEcca as well. I was able to pull up that Census info that you posted as well. But i was not able to Find Diamond death certificate, so this helps. My grandfather was buried here in Dallas, but it is his parents who I am interested in doing research on. So this helps me alot. Thanks!

My grandfather was adopted by his uncle and aunt Diamond and Lizzie Saxon. Not much is know about his parents due to mother dying at a young age. The children were split up throughout family members. She was 23 I believe when she died and they called her Mecca(I think)?? My grandfather was born around 1923. There are a few Saxon's left down there but not much. Just taking a chance to see if anyone knew of this family. Thanks Alot for your help.

Franklin Burns Saxon-Man of Mystery

I am searching for any information on my 3rd great-grandfather Franklin Burns Saxon. I have exhausted all other avenues, so I am hoping that anyone here can shed some light on this mystery man.

I have compiled a few clues:

•	He is the father of Benjamin Franklin Saxon –born April 2, 1871 in Grahamville, PA

•	His wife was Mary Ann Porter. They must have been married sometime between 1860-1871, as the 1860 Census still has Mary Ann living at home in Chanceford, York PA with her father & brother both named Benjamin Porter.

•	I’m guessing he was born around 1834 (if he was near Mary Ann’s age), the birthplace is also a mystery. As he is found on no Census records. The 1880 Census records for his son, Benjamin Franklin Saxon indicate that his father was born in PA, but the 1900, 1910, 1920 all state NY (ugh!).

•	Also the 1880 census lists Mary Saxon as a widow, so he must have died sometime between 1871-1880, presumably in PA.

•	The only document I have with his name on it is a bio for Benjamin Franklin Saxon from New York University alum records.

I am looking for any record that may indicate if

1.	He actually existed in the first place, perhaps I have the wrong name altogether.
2.	Who his parents were, which may be on a birth record for Benjamin Franklin Saxon, a marriage certificate for he & Mary Ann, or a death record and or obituary.

Please help if you have any information! Thanks!

Thomas A. SAXON (ca 1841 LA/MS--1894 CA) & Josephine FULLER

I'm trying to identify the parents and/or birthplace of Thomas A. SAXON. The earliest census record I've found of him is the following:

1870 San Francisco Co., CA
page 216 (2nd Ward, San Francisco)
fam. #1370 (City & County Hospital)
Thomas SAXON 29 MS hospital steamer (?)

In 1876, Thomas A. SAXON was the Schools Superintendent in Los Angeles County, and as such, was selected to read aloud the Declaration of Independence in the Independence Day celebrations that year.

He married around 1877 to Josephine A. FULLER (b. 9 Feb 1857 Salem, Marion Co., Oregon to Melissa [WILLIAMS] and Henry A. FULLER; died 10 June 1942 in Nogales, Santa Cruz Co., AZ). [Her brother Wesley FULLER has been documented as a witness to the "Gunfight at the OK Corral" on 26 Oct 1881 in Tombstone, AZ Terr.]

In 1880, Thomas A. SAXON and family were living in Los Angeles Co.:

1880 Los Angeles Co., CA
ED 36, page 31 (Ballona T'ship)
fam. #392
T. A. SAXON (age 54, born LA) died on 28 Dec 1894.

By 1900, his widow Josephine was living near her parents in Nogales, Santa Cruz Co., AZ:

1900 Santa Cruz Co., AZ
ED 57, page 1A (Town of Nogales)
fam. #10
Josphine A.
Ron,

The only thing that I have seen that has Manoah as brother of Lewis also has him as brother to Yancy Saxon, killed at Hayes Station. This was listed in a geneology done by the Graves family...there is no concrete evidence that I have seen. Manoah's parents are still a mystery. There is little doubt that his parents are in the New Kent County,VA; Halifax County, NC; and Laurens County, SC clan of Saxons, but where he fits is only a guess. I would love to solve this mystery on behalf of my family. Manoah was Charles Mote's father, who was Thomas Fortson's father, who was John Davis's father, who was my father Samuel Saxon's father. I, John Walter Saxon am father to Daniel John Saxon. It'd be nice to connect back a few more generations. Anyway, thanks for the information.

Hi Ron...I'm still out here not finding out anything about Pleasant Saxon. I'm glad you are still researching too. You have been a source of wonderful information on Saxons for a long time. Many thanks.
Been reading your recent posts and it got me wondering who the children(sons) of Ambrose Joshua Saxon were. I don't think I have any information on him. I've always thought Pleasant was born about 1801 and suspected that William Q was his brother, but have no facts to prove either.
Best wishes Mary Lou Saxon Jobes mmljobes@sbcglobal.net

Your answer is the following - SOURCE OF INFORMATION - This information regarding Lewis Saxon was taken from Saxon family Bible which is in the DAR Archives, Washington, DC and sent there by Sarah (Sally) Allen Saxon to establish claims to pension of Revolutionary soldier's widow; tombstones in Saxon cemetery; Mills Statistics of South Carolina published 1826; Historical Commission in Columbia, South Carolina Claim W. File #21791 Revolutionary Wars. Sarah was granted a pension January 3 under this claim for services of hr husband durding the war.

You can make an inquiry to DAR Archives, Washington, DC. I did not hear of Manoah Saxon as a brother of Lewis Saxon and as the children of Charles Esq Saxon and Judith Lewis are as follows as much as my understanding is concerning - Lewis, Ambrose Joshua, Samuel, Tabitha, Polly, Hugh, Sarah.
SAXON puzzles - - -

After over thirty-five years of SAXON research, I'm still trying to solve these puzzles relating to SAXON's who probably connect to my wife's ancestral line from Laurens Co., SC (having come to that area ca 1770's from NC, and to there from New Kent Co., VA and environs):

parents of presumed brothers Pleasant SAXON (born ca 1801 Laurens SC—died 1841 Monroe Co., MS) and William Q. SAXON (born ca 1804 Laurens SC—died 1860’s Lowndes / Oktibbeha Co., MS)

husband of Sarah SAXON (born ca 1785 SC—died after 1860 when in Laurens SC), who had children Elizabeth (ca 1805; prob. mother of Jackson SAXON b. 1826); Lewis B. (1807); John Pierce (ca 1810); Sarah (ca 1820); Wesley (ca 1829); and Julius/Jane (ca 1835).

parents of these presumed siblings: Toliver SAXON (born ca 1790); William SAXON (born perhaps ca 1792, died 1849 Shelby Co., AL; married Mary in Newberry Co., SC 19 Sep 1813); John SAXON (b. ca 1797 SC; later in Mobile Co., AL and Clarke Co., MS); Martin SAXON (b. ca 1801 NC?; later in Cherokee Co., AL); Alexander (b. ca 1803 SC; res. later in Mobile Co., AL)—Martin, John, & Alexander were in Murray Co., GA in 1834.

parents of these presumed siblings: Benjamin SAXON (b. ca 1803 SC—d. after 1880 when in Wood Co., TX; married ca 1820-30 in SC: Sarah unknown); William SAXON (b. ca 1805 SC—d. 1860’s Talladega or Clay Co., AL; m. 9 Jan 1833 in Henry Co., GA: Elizabeth HARRILL)

parents of William H. SAXON (b. ca 1780 NC—d. after 1860 when in Union Co., SC) married to Margaret unknown ca 1813 prob. in SC; children: Ruth Caroline (b. ca 1814 SC); Robert D. (b. 1815 SC); Samuel B. (b. ca 1820 GA); Adam Sanders (b. 1821 GA); Mary Ann (b. ca 1823 GA); Annas T. (b. ca 1825 GA); William A. (b. ca 1827 GA); Verlinda (b. ca 1829 GA); Margaret (b. ca 1832 GA); Jonathan (b. ca 1835 GA)

confirmation that (Ambrose) Joshua SAXON (born ca 1760, died 1817 Claiborne Co., MS) was a son of Charles SAXON and Judith SMITH of Laurens SC, and a grandson of Ambrose Joshua SMITH (who d. 1758 Orange Co., NC).

parents of Manoah SAXON (b. ca 1780—d. ca 1816 Franklin Co. GA?) who married Nancy HORTON 25 Dec 1804 in Laurens SC, and died shortly after his service from GA in the War of 1812. Widow Nancy later lived in Randolph Co., AL. They apparently had these children: John Horton (b. ca 1807 SC); James (b. ca 1809 Franklin Co., GA); Benjamin F. (b. ca 1814 GA); Robert Howard (b. ca 1815-20 GA); Charles Mote (b. 1817 GA—d. 1906 Chickasaw Co., MS)

parents of Atha SAXON (b. ca 1774-80—d. ca 1816 Greenville Co., SC) married ca mid-1790’s to Susannah unknown; res. of Laurens SC in 1800 and 1810; had these children: Luraney (b. 1794-1804); Noah (b. ca 1803—d. after 1860 when in Richmond Co., GA); Mary “Polly” (b. ca 1804-10); John (b. ca 1810-20); Atha (b. ca 1810-20)

parents of these assumed siblings with Burke Co., GA connections: Henry SAXON (b. 1775 NC—d. 1856 Leon Co., FL; m. Judith SMITH & Elizabeth OLIVER); William SAXON (b. ca 1780’s—d. 1830’s Burke Co., GA; m. Celia/Cecelia unknown); Samuel SAXON (b. ca 1784—d. 1820-30 prob. in Burke Co., GA; m. Jemima unknown); Benjamin Y. SAXON (b. ca 1790’s—d. after 1830 when in Burke Co., GA); John SAXON (b. ca 1790’s—d. bef. 1850 prob. in Burke Co., GA; m. Mary unknown who died after 1860 when in Burke Co., GA)

parents of Benjamin Thomas SAXON born 22 Feb 1819 Madison Co., AL, died 7 Apr 1842 Newberry, SC (from obit: “a member of the bar, and late Commissioner in Equity, for Lexington District… uniting himself to the Presbyterian Church.”)

parents of James H(enry?) SAXON born 1790’s SC, died after 1835 when in Greene Co., AL; res. of Wilcox Co., AL 1826 (Masonic Lodge membership) and Marengo Co., AL 1830 (census). Was security on 1830 Wilcox Co. will of Eli TERRY, Jr. (whose sister Mary Collingsworth TERRY married in 1829 Autauga Co., AL Benj. Wadsworth SAXON—son of James SAXON & Ann (ELMORE) CRADDOCK). 1830 census implies two sons and two daughters born since 1815. [May be the J. H. “SAXTON” in 1840 Rankin Co., MS (Brandon), but children’s ages don’t match well.]

If you can help solve any of these puzzles, please drop me a line!

Ron Head (Montgomery, AL)
jsaxon1212 (what an interesting name you have!)--

The Bible records included in the Revolutionary widow's pension application filed by Sally (Allen) Saxon McNees, widow of Capt. Lewis Saxon, provide only the names and dates for the children of Capt. Lewis Saxon and his wife Sally Allen.

What evidence, even circumstantial, have you seen that Manoah Saxon was a brother of Capt. Lewis Saxon?

To the best of my knowledge, after over forty years of research on this family, there is NO evidence that Capt. Lewis Saxon's mother was "Betty Washington Lewis." There is excellent evidence, however, that the wife of Charles Saxon (Capt. Lewis Saxon's father) was named Judith. She was almost certainly a daughter of Ambrose Joshua Smith, whose estate was appraised and recorded May Court, 1763, Orange Co, NC, return made by John Spann, Jr. He left 610 acres in Rowan Co, NC and 250 acres in Orange Co NC (later Chatham Co.) Bondsmen on his estate were Benjamin Blake and Benjamin Saxon. Charles & Judith Saxon almost certainly named a son Ambrose Joshua Saxon, for her father. Ambrose Joshua Saxon and his brother Capt. Lewis Saxon married sisters, Lucy and Sally Allen. Judith (Smith) Saxon's brother Charles H. Smith (ca 1740 Louisa Co., VA--1811 Laurens Co., SC) was married sometime after 1775 (as her second husband) to Mrs. Lucy (Bacon) Allen, mother of Lucy and Sally ALLEN and mother-in-law of Ambrose Joshua and Capt. Lewis SAXON.

Carol,

Did you actually see a copy of the Saxon family bible. I am the GGGGrandson of Manoah Saxon, allegedly, the brother of Lewis, son of Charles and Betty Washington Lewis. Does the bible clear any of this up?
