I just looked in www.wvculture.org and found who you are looking for. On Sept 28, 1920, in Raleigh Co, WV, I found their marriage license. On this license, he is listed as James Malona Scarborough, age 22 born in Raleigh Co, living in Marfork, and she is listed as Florence Louise Webb, age 21 living in what looks like as Dry Creek. I have this marriage license, if you would like a copy of it. Just email me at justcindi at yahoo dot com.

Luther Scarborough (various spellings) late 1800's

Looking for info on Luther Scarbrough, born about 1855 in Roane County, TN. Son of James Balem Scarborough and Mary Poland.

My Grandfather John W. Scarbro (b. 1894, d. 1965) said that his Uncle Luther went to Texas and was never heard from again. Cannot find any record of this Luther.

There is one tantalizing lead as to a Luther Scarborough in Arkansas or Oklahoma in late 1800's, but have not gotten any response as to where he originated. It's possible/probable that Uncle Luther went to Ark or Okla instead of Texas, so this could be him, but the one who mentioned it has not responded to my request for more info.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Phil
wesley wilson scarbro was my great uncle. he was a brother to my grandmother, verlie scarbro white. my dad always called him wilson, i quess because his father's name was wesley jackson scarbro . his fathers name was elam scarbro, and his fathers name was john b scarbrough, and his fathers name was john w scarbrough, one of the first settlers in raleigh county, west virginia. he settled here when there was no more than an indian trail to follow. the first scarbrough settled in bucks county, pa. in 1683. this is a web site that you can go to that will trace your grandfathers line all the way back to the 1500's. when you get there, click on to the surname index, and go to scarbro. after you click there look for your grandfathers name and go from there. the web address is scarbrough.home.attbi.com thanks to david scarbrough, he did all the work. you'll find your family there. i hope this helps.

To all Scarbro's,
My father was born Robert Truman Scarbro on May 22, 1944, he passed away on Dec. 8, 1984. I would love to find any relatives of mine. His mothers name was Mae Quisenberry, and he was given the last name of one of her husbands. He was born on a mountain outside of Hinton, WVA. Please contact me if you have any information that could help me. This has been a search that lasted for many years, I would be thrilled to find some closure. Thanks, Theresa Scarbro-Flynn
