Okay! So I talked to my grandpa about Louise who was his aunt and were rather close. She is the daughter of Frank and Zelora and the sister of the first Raymond.(there are other Raymonds later on). She never got married although she had 2 children with the same man John Hasty. Their children were Raymond and Joann. John Hasty was from Dayton as far as we know and Louise lived in Marion,OH with her parents and brother till their restaurant went out of business in 1929.They moved to Dayton looking for opportunities. When she passed is unknown but she donated her body to Wright State University, so there was no funeral. Joann her daughter was married 3 times. The last names were Grahm and Steele, the 3rd is unknown. She had 5 children in all. Raymond her son was very close to my grandpa, until he moved to California. He moved back to Ohio and died at age 42.He was married to a woman named Gloria from New York city. They had 3 children; Denise,George, and Rodney. Please tell me if this helps and any other information you could give us would be great!!! Thank you.

Hi - Sorry I didn't get back sooner - we had some company last week and I'm getting back to catching up on things. I was so pleased to get your response - I understand about your cancellation of your membership - there are so many brick walls in finding information that it gets discouraging. I'll be looking forward to learning more about the family from you - I hope to be able to find out if it's the Schick family I'm looking for - especially any information about Zelora's daughter, Marian Louise (who was called Louise, I understand). Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Re: Schick Information needed from Hagerstown, Maryland area

Hi Darrel - I've been researching the Schick family - not sure if I have the right Schick family but in doing my hunting have been looking into what I think is your family, too. I do have some info that I got on line through various sites about Franks 1 and 2 (and there's actually a Frank 3). #2 was born in Hagerstown and then went to Montgomery County, Ohio, so it seems that he's the one you're looking for. Frank #3 married Zelora Baumgardner and they had 2 sons (Willard and Raymond) and a daughter, Marian Louise, who's the person I'm looking into. I can't find any info about children that Raymond and Marian might have had; do know that Willard only had one child, also named Willard. I don't have much detail about the first 2 Franks that you're looking for but would be happy to share the tree with you if you haven't gotten any farther than when you wrote. Pretty much what I have is that it was Frank #1 who was born in Germany in 1836 and emigrated to Maryland, where he had Frank B. (#2)in in 1855. His son Frank Raymond (#3) was born in Hagerstown in 1874 and moved to Montgomery County, Ohio, where he died in 1931. I believe Frank #1 might have served in the Civil War, as there's a pension record that seems to fit his dates, etc. I hesitate to offer any information to anyone else, because I've found so many inconsistencies, misspellings, duplications, etc. in my research that I like to check and triple check everything before I feel reasonably sure that it's correct - however, I thought this might give you a place to start to fill in if you haven't already found it. If you have any information about Frank Raymond and Zelora Schick's children and what grandchildren they might have had I'd love to hear anything. I'd also like to know if there's anyone still around who knew Raymond and Marian Louise (she actually went by Louise, rather than Marian) - I did talk to Willard's only son, so have that piece pretty well put together. Being that the last available census is 1930 it's hard to track that part of family history. I'm actually just trying to find out if I have the right Marian Louise Schick - for my brother-in-law who thinks she might be related to him. So many families = so little time... Anyway. hope at least a little of this helps you - anything you'd be able to share would be great. Good luck with your research.

His son, Frank R. Schick, was born in Hagerstown about 1870 and eventually ended up in Ohio. We believe the first Frank immigrated from Germany somewhere around 1860. We would appreciate any help. His sister and her family followed at the turn of the century, settling in Pennsylvania. My grandfather, Roy,had letters that Katherine wrote to Frank, but after my grandfather's death I do not know who ended up with them. Also I will have to ask around to very that Frank, Katherine, and Henry are from Kaiserslauten. Frank and Katherine also had two more siblings - a brother and a sister, who stayed in Germany.
I do not have any information about Henry or his family.

I came across a World War I draft registration card for a Henry Schick born on 23 Jul 1898. At the time the card was filled out, he was in Philadelphia, which was in 1917. My Great-Grandfather Fred Schick had a brother named Henry who disappeared after 1910 and no one knows what happened to him. I believe that this Henry born in 1898 is in fact my Great Grandfather's brother, but I need more proof. Does anyone know of the Henry Schick that I speak of? I know that there is not much to go on, but I do not have much about Henry.

Hello, I'm looking for information about my great grandfather Peter Anton Schick (b. in NYC, 8/1880, d. 7/1949, m. Antoinette Wocl, 1909) and his brother Carl B. Schick (b. in NYC, 1872). Both are listed on the 1900 census living in Manhattan with their mother, Mary, stepfather, Peter Hoppstein, and two stepbrothers, Frederick and Theodore Hoppstein. I'm especially interested in Peter and Carl's parents, both born in Germany, and Carl's children, if he had any. Thanks-

Thank you so much for your message. There seems to be a strange connection here and perhaps we should explore it further. We could well be related.

We lived in 29 Tancsics Mihaly Utca, Ujpest until December 1956.

Indeed my brother would spell his name Andras however, he was taken to Auschwitz in June/July 1944. He was then a 3 year old little boy so the probability of him being in Hungary is probably nil. He is more likely to be living in USA or Israel, if at all. I was not adopted by my parents, my father was my real Dad, only my mother was not my real parent.

Perhaps some research on your part would be beneficial, one never knows what is in the future and sometimes huge surprises are thrown at us. Your message has really shaken me.

What is your Mum's first name? How wonderful you still have her.Perhaps a marriage certificate would throw some light on the family name she was born with.

Please keep in touch, perhaps we cna help each other in some way. My e-mail address is martakennedy@msn.com

Kind regards and may your week also be filled with magic.

Marta Schick-Kennedy

I think your brother would spell his name Adras if still in Hungary. As for the name Sarosi, My Mom lost her parents durning the war and was adopted as a kid by her new parents who had the name Sarosi they also changed there name to that surname not sure what they were before that, and my mom cant remember. But they also lived in the Ujpest district that is number 4. I know if you would goto the city hall in district 4 ujpest and knew your brothers DOB and full name for a small fee they will give you his birth cirtificate and with that and another fee can get a where abouts where he lives if he stayed in Hungary or died in Hungary. I dont know of anybody living from the Sarosi family, they ether died in the war or from old age, My Mom is still alive and lives in Szilvasvarod Hungary. Have a magical week.

Am trying to locate information about William Baker Schick/Shick. He was born 30 November but in 3 different records gave different years (1884, 1885, 1886). On the WW2 draft card he said he was born in Lincoln, DE with a wife Mary.

I know his mother was named Emma, born in PA 1859, a widow by 1900 and living in DE with her 2 sons; William and Samuel Miles, born 1882.

I believe William may have moved to NY after 1942 and died there in 1962.

Does anyone know whatever happened to him? I have some questions about his family I would love to ask.

Family Photo - SCHICK, Frank W., Ella, Kyle, Calvin - Kansas & Michigan

I recently obtained an old group photo dated approx. 1900 of the children of Frank W. & Ella SCHICK. The children named on the back of the photo are: Cloe, Kyle, and Calvin.

From the censuses, I learned that Frank (b. 1865 MI) & Ella (b. 1866-1869 PA) were in Sterling, Kansas, for the 1895 state census & 1900 federal census. Both sons Kyle and Calvin were born there in Sterling according to the WW1 draft registrations. Cloe was born Feb 1891 in Kansas, Carl/Kyle was born Nov 1893, and Calvin was born Nov 1895. The family moved to Michigan (also the place of Frank's birth) by the 1910 census where Frank & Ella remained for the rest of their lives. Sons Calvin and Kyle can also be found in Michigan later. I haven't learned more about Cloe.

If anyone is interested in this photo, please email me.

In 1900 he was single and living with his sister Pauline OCHS in New York City. Altho I have a great deal of information on his parents, I've found nothing on Charles since 1900.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

I forgot to ask, do you know anything about your great uncle Henry Schick? We are trying to find him and no one knows what happened to him after he was sent on the orphan train.

Also, was your grandpa John in the army?

Hi there, I live in Connecticut. This is pretty awesome information! Do you know how your Grandpa John got to Wisconsin? I was told by some of John's nieces (which were Frederick's children) that John and his son George lived in New Jersey for awhile (because that's where John was born).
