PAUL E. SCHILLING, age 75, died on March 13, 1992, at Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark, Licking County, Ohio. He was born on October 19, 1916, in Columbus, Franklin County, OH, the son of Otto L. Schilling and KATHERINE BRENNER. He was a resident of Newark, OH, and was survived by his wife, Esther Asper Schilling. Burial on March 17, 1992, at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Newark, OH. Informant - Mrs. Schilling.

Schillings of New Orleans

Looking for any information on the Schilling family of New Orleans.Father Oscar was a Lutheran minster in New Orleans, wife Bertha E Fricke, 2 sons Merle o.& Marvel H. Only sure that they all lived in New Orleans in 1945-46 & Bertha died in 1946.Thanks for any help.

Has anyone made any progress on John Henry Shilling? I believe him to be the father of Rutha Shilling, b. 07 Jun 1779 in Orangeburg, SC, married William Pou, Jr. 06 Oct 1799, married 2nd John C. Gleaton, died Panola County, MS in 1866.

John Henry Shilling's marriage is in the Salley book, page 117, item 54 second from the bottom of the page.

I need proof that Rutha was John Henry's daughter.

Hi MIke,

Good to hear from you. Hope you're well. The only reason I thought his dad was Friedrich was something my Dad said - I know you've got Philip (since you kindly emailed me the relevant cert), and know you're probably right, but since I've had instances of false name giving on marriage certs on my Mum's side, I thought it might be worth chasing both names.

I had some kind responses from a church in Frankfurt (St Leonard's I think it was) but nothing from the place they directed me to.

So regretfully I"ve got nowhere also - for now. But I'll keep trying when I have time.

Can I ask where you got details of his father from. I have his father as Philip from an earlier marriage certificate (to Ann Santos nee Hipkins).
Ive also done some research in Frankfurt but with very little luck.

My son Dion VanNess Schilling ( Mpls. MN. and daughter Staci Linette Schilling ( Big Lake ,MN. ) are grandchildren to Henry George Schilling. He was born May 3 1911 in Lincoln Nebraska and is buried in Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minnesota next to his wife Anna Carlson ,He passed on May 23 1970 . He had children Betty , Robert , Barbara ,Richard with Anna and then remarried a woman named Clara Ward and had three kids Robin, Geroge and Gregory . His parents are Johann Georg Schilling 1869 - 1936 and Marilibeth Schilling ( 1877 Birth) . His sister was Rose Sarah . John Christopher Schilling married Johanna Christina Sophia Retze they came from germany and lived and died in Ohio. I have John's paper for citizenship in 1855 it says he had lived in the US for 5 years. I am trying to find out where they came from. Did they come together or seperate? John was Johann Christoph before he got here did that change before or after he arrived? Who are his parents? Exactly where he was born?

He died Feb 21, 1911 Pinckneyville, Il

Married June 25, 1863 in Maeystown, Il to Catherine Decker

He was the son of Martin Schilling b:1799 and Anna Maria
Hoch b: 1817

Rose Sarah was my great aunt on my father's side. Her mother's first name was spelled Merilisbeth and she went by the name of Mary. She had younger sisters, Lydia Minnie, and Mary Paulina and a 1/2 sister (possibly an older sister) named Josefine Reibant. Sara's parents immigrated from Russia to the USA in 1907.

Those were my great grandparents. My grandfather was Paul Schilling. He was married to June Spellicy(Wiggins now) and Brian Schilling is my father. I just started researching them now.

I found out that Alfred was born 9/9/1990 and died 12/18/1960 of a heart attack. His parents were Sebastian and Elizabeth (Schneible) schilling. Alfred married Anna at ST. Mary's church on 4/26/1925. Anna died on 6/21/1992. Her parents were Wilfred and Annd (Reddin) Arnold. She has a brother Jack Arnold.

Looking for a William Schilling B. Abt 1831 in germany. He would have come to America around 1852, married Elizabeth Noe/Noll B.1838 in Illinois. I have found them living in Galena, Illinois on the 1880 Census with ten childern. The childerns names where William, Elizabeth, Mary, Emily, Theodore, Frank, August, Mena, Valentine, and Anna. I wish I had found this thread sooner!

I grew up in Canaan among the many Schillings and knew that one of the many Margaret Shillings, married to Philip Moshimer, was an ancestor. I have been struggling to "get across the pond" on my Moshimer and Knoblock lines. Another ancestor had indicated "Orbis" as her birthplace in the census, so I have been going through Orbis-area records. Still haven't found the Moshimers or Knoblocks, but have found other Canaan-area Orbis emigrees, including my Klein GG Grandmother.

I believe that the Steuerwalds of Canaan probably also came from Orbis.

I have hand-written notes about some of the Schilling gravestones in the Flat Brook cemetery.

Hi, crazy isn't it? I've been looking for info also. I'm pretty sure that granma came to the states prior to 1927 because my mother was born in scottsbluff and she was born in 1927. I wonder if Richard Foltz could help both of us.

Hi do you know the name Carl E. Schilling born in Germany in 1860 married a Maria (?)and came to America abt. 1894-96 - Maria died in Wisconsin and Carl went to Iowa where he remarried Ida Graus, had children and then died in 1926.

My grandmother, born in the late 1800's was Anna Elizabeth Schilling, in Housenbach Russia and immigrated to the US on or about 1927. Her married name then was Foltz but does not show on the registry at Ellis Island.
She had a brother named George but that is all I know. She had 21 children all born in the US but one that came on the ship with her and her husband.
I am at a dead standstill from there.

My G G Granfather August Andreas Schilling migrated to Australia 1884, Married Louise Susana Backhaus. All I have from is death Certificate was his mothers name Eva doretha Schink. I have been searching for leads for 10 years. I have found that his name was very common which led me off in different directions. I do know that they were sponsored to come to Australia by Louise's older brother Theodore.

Ollie Schilling mother was Christiana Euseba Fortenberry. I am working on my family tree at this time. I am looking for info on Carl &/or Maria Schilling - I now they brought a small child (girl) to Am with then from Hamburge Germany - I believe the child to be an adopted daughter, age abt. 3yr old - born Maria Elisabeth Gehlhar - daughter of Anna Rosine Gehlhar - father unk. not sure why child would have been adopted out - but - she was adopted again (by MacGregor's) as a teenager - Maria died shortly after arriv. in Am.
** This is my grandmother and all family has passed on so I cannot ask anyone - so any help or direction would help so much - I really just want to know the life of my Grandmother. - My dad said she never talked about her life and of course no ever researched before now.

I have Schilling relatives from St. Clair (Mascoutah/Belleville). My great-grandmother was Louisa Schilling, daughter of John Schilling. Her siblings were Adolph, Sophie (b. 1865), Henrietta (b 1860). They arrived from Baden Germany in 1864 when my great grandmother was 3. The passenger lists on ancestry.com show up if you do a search for those names. Any relation?

I'm trying to find my great-grandfather's parents and their other children.

From what I learned from my father, when the family came to the US from either Russia or Germany, the last name was originally Von Barren Schilling (I don't think it's spelled correctly) and is Germany. I'm not sure if the family moved from Germany and then to Russia because I know my relatives are from Russia on this side.

Somewhere along the line, the name was changed to Schilling and only my grandfather, Julius Schilling and his twin Jack (could be short for Jacob) Schilling spelled the name with a "C". The other siblings had the "C" dropped from their name, Shilling.

I'm looking for a William, Arthur and Irving Shilling that probably migrated to Bronx, NY.

I'm also look for Julius's twin brother, Jack (maybe Jacob) Schilling.

My grandfather, Julius migrated to Bronx, NY so it's mostly likely that these relatives are still in NY.

This newspaper article was passed down to me by my in-laws. I don't recognize any of the names as family though. The newspaper was too big for my scanner so I scanned in sections and joined them together. It's not seamless, but everything is there and it's not bad. It was published in the Green Bay Press-Gazette on Sunday, Jan 27, 1980

I am looking at a Death Certificate for Jacob D. Schilling (9-15-1878 to 5-14-1936
His father is named Nicholas and his wife is named Mary.
Birthplace is Belleville Illinois
Pretty certain that he was the brother of my Grandfather Benjamin (Bernard) Schilling
