Hi Nadine,

If I remember right, when someone used to post a message here, they got a notification by email when there was a response. I guess that doesn't happen any more. I don't check here often, but it is a slow day today. Too cold up here for anything else. Have you ever been in contact with a party who researches the Schindel name in Canada? Her name is Rose. Can't remember the last name off hand, but I do have it along with her email, buried in my hard copies. My computer crashed last summer and my address book was lost and is now in the process of getting back to what it was. I just remembered, Rose Ingram. She sure helped me out. She actually went to Poland and did some checking for her family tree.

My email is Wheels54154@yahoo.com

If you email me, put the name Schindel in the subject line.

Not sure if your Schindels are my Schindels, but the possibility is there. The confirmation cert for my grandfather, Gottlieb Schindel spelled his last name Schendel. His father, Ludwig, named his last son August. My grandfather may have come from the Lublin or Lodz area, but I have had no luck tracing him in Poland/Russia. Also, Ludwig named another son Gottfried. I know they named children in honor of the previous generation (usually) so there might be a connection. Keep in touch.
Nadine

I am a Schindel descendant on my mothers side. Some of the names you listed appear in my research also. However, it seems that people in those days like to use a lot of the same names so they appear in many lines.

My Schindels :

August Schendel and Julianna Wegner.
August Schendel was born in Zalaski, Poland, Dabie Parish, in the year of 1857, to Gottfreid Schendel and Anna Marianna Schneider.

Julianna Wegner was born in Mrowisko Poland, Dabie Parish, in the year of 1857. August and Julianna were married in the Dabie Poland Parish in February of 1881.

Their son, Emil Schendel, later changed to Schindel, is my Grandfather and he and his wife Ernestine came to the US through Ellis Island and then to Northeastern Wisconsin. Just about 30 miles northeast of Green Bay.

I have traced a huge amount on this line. If you think we may have a connection, let me know.

i am searching for schindel's who would have been on the west coast from 1860s or so.

specifically looking for a man born in California in about 1863 who in the 1895, 1896, 1897, 1902, and 1905 Seattle area records went by "Chris" SCHINDEL. Other names that appear for this person "JOHAN P.C. SCHINDEL, CHRISTIAN SCHINDEL" this man died in July 1905 in a hospital near Seattle of TB at the age of about 41. He was a brewer with the Klausen Sweeney Brewery. He married Loretta Augusta Weiss and had at least one daughter Clara Loretta Schindel.

any information would be fabulous. thank you.

Schindels in Canada (Raymonds?)

My wife's family (Schindel) comes from the Melville
area of Saskatchewan. In the early 1900's (1907?) at least 6 Schindels homesteaded
at Melville, taking adjacent (or nearly adjacent) lands.

The Margaret Kraushar referenced by Raymond last year in message #4
appears in my wife's family records along with Margaret's older sister
Maria (Mary) Kraushar who also married a Schindel (Henry, an older brother of Jacob).
At least two Kraushaar families homesteaded near Melville very near the
Schindels.

I have extractions from the Dominion Land Grant Index of the National Archive of
Canada and a home-made map of their locations near Melville but have not followed
up to look at the papers themselves.

These families came from North Dakota after emigrating from
Volhynia ca 1890 (and probably passing through Winnipeg before
going to ND).

I so glad that I found someone else researching the Schindels! Augusta Schindel b. 1854 in Dodge Co., WI is my 2nd great-grandmother. She is the daughter of Carl (Charles). I'm very interested in her as she divorced her husband Lloyd Brooks and left him to raise their two sons in the 1870's. I find this very unusual. Charles Schindel and his wife Mary Thesesa are listed in the 1860 Beaver Dam, Dodge Co. WI census. Their children: Frederick b. 1853, William b. 1853, Augusta b. 1854, Charles b. 1855, Theodore b. 1857, and Otto b. 1859. Another contact that I have found is Terri Schindel Caribardi. She said that Carl and Mary had two other children, Barbara b. 1861 and Gustave (her great-grandfather) b. 1869. I have Carl's death certificate and listed as his parents are Christ (?) Schindel and Augusta. His wife is listed as Mary Theresa Blossfeld. On his wife's death certificate is listed Maria Therasa Schindel with maiden name Germershauser. On their son Charles' death certificate, father Carl Schindel, mother Maria T. Germershauser. Do you know if Carl Schindel's wife was married before she married him? I wonder why she is listed with the name Blossfeld on Carl's death cert. and Germershauser on her death cert. and her son Charles'
Thanks for responding. My Frederick Blossfeld was born Nov. 2, 1882 in Brooklyn NY. I don't know who his parents were which is why I wrote to you. I was hoping that your Frederick might be his father. Since your Frederick was born in 1853 it is very possible, but I need to know where he settled, who he married, and if he was in Brooklyn Ny in the 1880's. You probably can't answer those questions, but I do appreciate your info. There were four Blossfeld Families in NY at that time, but none of them seem to have had a son Frederick born in 1880's. There names were Frederick b. 1831 in Prussia, Frederick C. Blossfeld Jr. b. 1865 son of 1831 Frederick and Charles L Blossfeld, b. 1869 NY. 2nd family William Blossfeld b. 1834 Prussia, he had many children. 3rd, Charles H. Blossfeld b. 1838 and finaly Herman Blosefeldt b. 1845. The last three families all had sons named William. My Frederick's first son was named William also. Like I said, there may be a connection, but I can't say for sure.
Cathy

Hi,
The Frederick Blossfeldt that I have in my records was born about 1853 in Beaver Dam, WI. Is he a relation to your Frederick? My Frederick's mother, Maria Theresa Germershauser Blossfeldt went on to marry Charles Schindel who is my direct line. I don't know much about the Blossfeldts other than Charles and Theresa raised both William and Frederick.

My grandfather was Jacob Schindel, Jewish, from near Radom, Poland, born 1880's, immigrated US about 1900. Never spoke of any relatives here but wasn't a very social guy. He had 2 sons and a daughter but only his eldest son had any progeny. That eldest son was my father, his original name being Isidore Benjamin Schindel which he changed to Irving Stewart.

Was this Jacob Schindel related to anyone known to anyone here?

Thanks,

Mark Stewart

Hi, my name is Tracy Siehndel. I live in Kansas City, MO and have been researching my family history. While the speelings of our name are different, I believe that somehow there is a ink in our history. The pronounciation of my last name is Sindel or Sindul. I have received a few different spellings of the last name. I am interested in what information we may have in common. I have set up a Siehndel family web site at my family.com and have been in touch with a Siehndel in germany who has told me of where the Diehndel's originate. If interested or can share info please conact me

I am a Siehndel and am reserching my history. I have a few different spellings for the name (pronounced Sin'dul).
My family came from Germany in the 1800's and settled in Minnesota. I am aware of many families of Siehnde's in the US as well as a Siendel (no h). If you believe we are somehow tied or have information on the spelling of the name, please contact me. Thanks

I have a Catherine Sindel as my GGGrandmother. We are unsure how to spell the last name. She married a Taylor. We now they had at least one son in Fort Wayne Indiana by the name of Harry. Our biggest problem is finding proper spellings. We are also told the name of Taylor may have been changed when someone in the family came from Germany. We have no idea which generation came over. Do you by any chance have anything in your records on these 2? His name was John Taylor. Thank you for your time. Jo

Susan, cuzin Ruth again, do you happen to have any information regarding Reuben Spies' wife Dora Sternberg. I know her parents were Charles Mary, but no mention when they were born and if any siblings to Dora.

Your information is great! I've been sitting here all night reading the Schindel's line. Again thanks for the books that you made for the Schindel reunion a few years back, it is great. I am doing a book for Amy, Brian Doug on their ancestors, and the information regarding the Schindels that you put together is EXCELLENT.

Again, thanks.
Ruth
