Ed - this is Sharon Ries Dziuk, Carl Ries' daughter. I noticed that you have a photo of Elizabeth Schneider. I would greatly appreciate it if you would send me a copy of that photo. We just found out that Elsie Ries died last October. Any photos or information she might have had is gone. So if you have any Ries family photos I would greatly appreciate it if you could send me copies of those photos. I would be willing to pay any expenses you incur. Any photos of your family would also be nice. Its too bad she is gone I always hoped that we could get some family information from her but it just wasn't meant to be.
Elsie Mae Schneider

Looking for anyone that might have information on Elsie Mae Schneider, born about 1888 in Illinois. She married William Dietrick Lukens in 1907, and lived in Washington state in 1920 and 1930. The last time my mother saw her was in 1961, so I know she died after that, but beyond that, I'm not sure. I know she was married multiple times to a Rizmon (approximate spelling) and Ruckles, but can't find any record of either. I've seen her last name on some records spelled Snyder, but I believe Schneider to be correct. There are records of an Elsie Mae born around the same time to German parents, but she always insisted to my mother that she was of Dutch heritage. I'd love to be able to confirm that, or identify her parents to continue my search.

If you know the Russian village your ancestors lived in, you're might be have some luck looking in the earliest censuses and be able to trace backwards to Germany. I found my earliest Schneider ancestor in the 1798 Obermonjou census indicating he and his family were from Leidendorf, Mittelfranken, Bavaria, Germany. (Although Volga settlers came from all areas of Europe, a large proportion of Germans emigrated from Bavaria because that area was particularly decimated during the Seven Years War.)

Hi,Mrs.Foster, I'm your stepfather's (James Robert Reliford's) cousin. I was doing the family history, and yes, Albert Charles Schneider married Ella Bertha Fuller on January 20, 1927 here in Cincinnati, Ohio. Your grandfather's parents were Paul Schneider (b. 19 Jul 1863 in Germany d. 22 Apr 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio)& Anna Mary Schmieg (b.15 Aug 1867 in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania -d.19 May 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio). They were married here in Cincinnati, Ohio on Paul's 30th birthday (19 Jul 1893). Their kids were: Clarence (b. abt 1896), your grandfather Albert Charles Schneider (b.22 November 1897-d.31 Jul 1972),Anthony (b. May,1900- d.before 1910), Erwin (b. abt 1904 I believe Erwin died in the 1970's.) They had another child but I don't know his/her name because him/her wasn't in the 1900 or 1910 census. Your grandmother's parents were Charles Fuller (b. 21 Oct 1863 in Germany -d. 13 Jun 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio)& Rosa Riegelsberger (b. 11 Sep 1863 in Germany- d. 23 Apr 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio) Their kids were:Fred William Fuller (b. 8 Jan 1890 d. 17 Aug 1973)Charles Grover Fuller Jr (b. 22 Jun 1892-d. 8 Aug 1974) Albert Henry Fuller (b. 7 Dec 1893- d. 28 Jul 1965) Rose Emma Fuller (b. 11 Jan 1897-d. 26 Dec 1911)Edna Helen Fuller-Stump (1 Aug 1900-d. 11 Dec 1991) and your grandma Ella Bertha Fuller-Schneider (14 Feb 1903-d. 18 May 1959). Your mother had a half sister named Marie Schneider-Lugannani (b.17 Aug 1916 d.12 Apr 1996).

Ferdinand and Bertha -- New Jersey Schneiders

I believe these are my great-great grandparents. They had 11 children so I am hopeful there are other surviving descendants like me. They were born in Germany and immigrated to the U.S. and lived in New Jersey (Newark and Irvington). Would love to hear from others who can trace their tree back to Ferdinand (born about 1848) and Bertha (born about 1852). I believe I am a descendant of their son George.

Bridgett Schneider of Random Acts Of Genealogical Kindness (RAOGK), R.I.P.

From Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter 13 Nov 2011:

"Bridgett Schneider of Random Acts Of Genealogical Kindness (RAOGK), R.I.P.

"It is with great sadness that I report that Bridgett Schneider, best known as the primary person behind Random Acts Of Genealogical Kindness, passed away today. She was 64 years old.

"The last message I received from Bridgett was on October 18 when she wrote:

"RAOGK has been around with our volunteers helping other genealogists get copies of documents required to prove your lineage back to Adam and Eve (giggle). Pictures of your ancestors' tombstones were also high on the lists of requests. I hope everyone got as much service as we were able to give.

"Our heart is saddened that we will be offline for quite awhile. Between computer problems (harddrive turning to toast) and the health of the administrator very questionable ... RAOGK, after 11 years, will cease to exist for awhile.

"Bridgett Schneider
"RAOGK Administrator

"Bridgett and her husband Doc began Random Acts of Kindness (RAOGK) in 1999 in their Nebraska home. What they began with a handful of volunteer researchers in 1999 grew to over 4,000 people around the world.

"made many new friends over the years through RAOGK, attending conventions, society meetings, and helping the many researchers via online resources.

"Bridgett's husband Doc has assured the RAOGK volunteers that Random Acts Of Genealogical Kindness will be back online in the future - a promise he has made to Bridgett. For now, some people are helping individuals through the RAOGK Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/groups/33868082803/. Bridgett has brightened the lives of countless people and will be dearly missed."

no, I don't have any info on Miss Carole, but when I go down to the health center to do genealogy on 11/23 i will try to get her date of birth for you. Do you know if your mother graduated from high school ? If so, what high school ? I believe that she would've graduated in 1955.

I almost forgot, do you have any information on my mother's other sister Carole? I just met her about 3 years ago and have only seen her once since then.

Thank you!

Suzanne
