I orginally had the wrong Christian Schroeder. Mine named Chr Schroeder died in 1876 with his wife Anna F. Goedeke as the informant and was buried in St. Peter's Cemetery. Ernest Schroeder is related to those buried in Fee Fee Cemetery. His father was Christian Schroeder also. These German ancestors are difficult to identify!

There are many Schroeders that were in the St. Louis area. My Schroeders were mainly the ones buried at St. Peter's Cemetery in Normandy. The oldest one I have found in Christian Schroeder who died at age 40 and was buried 3 May 1876. He married Anna Goedeke circa 1860 (died 18 Jun 1888) and they had my great grandmother Johanna "Emilie" Friedericke who was born 1864 and died 1933 (married William F. Vahle circa 1884), August(1869-1911), Anna (1870-1936), Caroline "Carrie" (1875-??_), and Wilhelm (after 1875-??). My grandmother was Florence Vahle Taylor (the 3rd of 4 children). She had my father Calvin C. Taylor and he had 4 living daughters, one is me.

Reply is this is your family.

Walter, it's well worth doing the Y-DNA test, and I highly recommend Familytreedna.com There is a Schroeder DNA project which presently has 24 Schroeder males. They occur in 6 haplgroups, so not all Schroeder's descent from the same ancestor. There are 10 Schroeder's in haplogroup R1b, and 6 in haplogroup I. It would really help to sort out the relatedness of all the Schroeder lines if hundreds, or thousands, of Schroeder males tested, at least to 12 markers. http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/schroeder

I realize this is a tenuous way to try to establish a family connection, but I take note of given names of people posting on the Schroeder forums as a clue to possible shared ancestry. For example in 300+ years of my Schroeder ancestors from Ostereistedt, Germany there is no male named Henry. So I disregard posts with the given name of Henry, assuming I am not related. But in your post the names John (Johann) and Peter are listed. John is the most common given name in my Schroeder line, followed by Jakob. Peter also occurs in my Ostereistedt family tree. Here is my family tree up to Johann Schroeder (1845-1934), who emigrated to Brooklyn, NY in 1866, setting up a wholesale grocery on the Lower East Side. He was Lutheran, but changed to Episcopalian. http://www.ortsfamilienbuecher.de/famreport.php?ofb=selsinge...

Another strategy you may consider, if you have any Schroeder male living relatives is a Y-DNA test. Y-DNA is only carried by males. There are about 20 haplogroups. Most European men are in the R1b or I haplogroups. Our Schroeder line is in the relatively uncommon (2.5%) E1b1b1 haplogroup for northern Germany. So any other Schroeder who matches me in this haplogroup at 25 or 37 markers, within a few steps is almost certainly related to me. To confirm the genetic relatedness it's best to go out to 67, or even 111 markers. The company I went with is Familytreedna.com http://www.familytreedna.com/

I hope this information is helpful to you.

Dave Schroeder

Trying to locate any info on Edward T and Edward N Schroeder from Buffalo, NY area. In the 1930 census it shows Edward T was born abt 1903 and Edward N was born about 1928. The mother listed was Florence P Baranowski-Schroeder. Florence died in 1934 from TB. Sadly this is the only info I have on these two men. Any info would be appreciated.
Greeting fellow Schroeder's. My Grandmother was a Schroeder from Ohio. The Family Bible and little else gets me a sliver of info on Peter Franklin Schroeder, born August 1868 in Ohio (mostly likely Cincinnati) with his Father John born in Germany Jun 1828. I have fair documents for Peter and his children, some info on his Father and Mother (Mary Gard (sp?) and his siblings but, that is all. Probably for the reason stated previously that they are from Germany and data is hard to dig up from outside Germany. John would have been of age to be part of the mass exist of reformers (who lost to the Monary) from Germany 1849-1853. ?
Any help in breaking through is greatly appreciated.

i dont have much info on her actual family, but i do have a copy of the schroeder-schroll wedding announcement from a paper in iowa. it does state that lived on a farm in iowa after their marriage, but i now john burt died in baltimore, so i guess they moved back at some time. i am related to john burt schroll's sister grace belle schroll hertzberg, she was my gg grandmother. if interested i also have a copy of an article about john burt schroll and him losing his eye in WWI.

I know your message is very old, but our Friederich could well have been born in 1797. Son Johann Friederich was born 1822, which is earlier than your date. What area are you researching? Our Schroeders come from the Osnabruck/Ostercappeln area (Niedersachsen). The family settled in St. Louis in early 1850's.

William C. Schroeder b. around 1872 Iowa, s/o of Peter and Kate

William C. Schroeder is in the 1880 Pottawattamie County, Iowa census with his parents, Peter and Kate (Sieck) Schroeder. I can't find him after that. Is he buried in the county? His parents moved on to Nebraska. His father died in 1905 in Hall County, NE. Is there an obit on him that might give us some information? Thank you for your kindness.
