Three questions for anyone who may know the answers:
1. Does anyone know about the ancestors of John Adam Schroeppel Sr born 1816 in Germany? Did he have any siblings and specifically is he related to Gottlieb Schroeppel (b. 1808, Germany) who lived in the Bellville area.
2. Did Emma Schroeppel (b. abt 1863), I believe the sister of Dr Gustave Schroeppel, marry John Oliver Demette? The marriage is listed in the IL database as Oliver J Demette and Emma Schropper (Schroffel) in 1886.
3. Is Johanna Schroeppel related to this family? Listed in IL marriage database as Johanna Schroppel, to marry Charles
Halthardh (I believe is really Charles H Althardt)

Winfried,
Hello. I am just now reading your post dated June 22, 2008. I would be very interested in seeing if we come from the same Schroeppel family. It has not been an easy name to research. Please contact me at steelethree@att.net.
Sandy Steele

Hi!

To help you from the German side:
babrara should be most likely called Barbara.
It was common practice in former times to give your children a double first name: 1. the fathers or mothers name, 2. an own first name
With Geisselsoeder you are right, it is written Geisselsöder.
Concerning "petersdorf pfarrerei forst" see http://www.bruckberg.de/showpage.php?SiteID=92.
1827 the german villages Forst, Petersdorf and Frankendorf are founding a new community called Forst, located in a german province called "Franken". The expression "Pfarrei" (not Pfarrerei) means parish. So it was the parish of Petersburg (Peter's fortess - by the way) of the community Forst. Maybe they have further information to your people.
If you need any translations, please ask.
Funny is, that the village Frankendorf sounds very much like your Frankenlust. Just Dorf means Village and Lust means Joy.

The name Schroeppel or Schröppel is not very often to be found on the globe, so it would be very interesting to be in touch with the relatives in Saginaw!!

Regards

Winfried Schröppel - Germany
I bought this anniversary booklet. C. E. Schroppel is a member of the Church Council. An M. Schroppel was a member of the Tabea Sewing Circle. I believe this would be a good resource for someone related to this SCHROPPEL family.

There are a number of group photos in this booklet.

I am not related, but I would like to connect this booklet with family members or family researchers.

Kathy Wieland in St. Louis, MO

Hi Courteney! Your Grandparents visited us once here in Utah and possibly your Dad also?. As I recall, your greatuncle Wes was with them. I've been in Sioux City lots of times. My Dad was Cliff and they llived in Webster City. It is good to hear from you. I haven't yet found William Schroeppel's parents. John Wesley Schroeppel, your greatgreatgrandfather was married to Clara Ella Hagler and I have lots of info on the Hagler's. The Schroeppel family lived in Holstein and Schaller so it's easy to see how Frank got to Sioux City. John Wesley died in Frank's home, in Leeds at that time. I have some photos of Frank and Inez and a few of Art and Alice if you are interested. Frank had only three Brothers and he and my dad only had children. Mack the other brother had no children. At one time lots of us lived in Schaller but are now scattered. Herb King lives in Storm Lake in the summer and is Frank's nephew and is the one living nearest to you. Hope to hear from you again!

Mark, Thank you for the information. I must have the spelling of Anna's last name wrong. Also I have her middle initial as B. It makes sense that her middle name was Regina because her daughter, Regina Sturm, was my great grandmother. Unfortunately, I have no other information on Johann and Anna Sturm. Are you related to them? Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sandy Steele

Roy,

My mother's maiden name was Schroeppel. Adam was my great uncle. You were right about his brothers, Herman (my grandfather) born 10-8-1895 and Frederick. Their sisters were Mary and Matilda (Tillie). Mary may have died as a child. My mother agrees with you that Martha's maiden name was Hamann. Adam and Herman's parents were Michael Schroeppel and Regina nee Sturm. Michael was born in 1860 and died in June, 1940. Buried at St. John's Church, Amelith, Mi. Regina was born in 1856 and died 1937. Also at St. John's. Their parents were George M. Schroeppel born Jan. 1, 1830 in Germany and Anna B. nee Steinbauer born 7-17-1837. Johann G. Sturm and Anna B. nee Geissborder. Will let you know if I find anything else.

I just recently found out that my Great Grandmother on my father's side was Louise Schroeppel who allegedly was born in the United States sometime around 1850-1860. Where in the USA is anyone's guess, but my Great Grandfather, her spouse, was Henry Gehring who was born in Switzerland or in the Alsace-Lorain area of Germany. Louise and Henry had 5 children: George, Harry, Charles, Anna and Frederick who was my grandfather. As far as I know, all of these people lived in or around Toledo, Ohio. I have a family reunion photo taken sometime around the turn of the century that captures about 3 generations of Schroeppels. If anyone knows anything about the Ohio Schroeppels, I would like to hear from you. My e-mail address is dingo@zianet.com or nanschlueter@hotmail.com.

This is to correct one of the names in the
Albert Schroeppel family. I became confused
about my Aunt Louise (the Nicol side of the
family) and Aunt Lorene. The correct name
in the list of family members should be Lorene instead of Louise.

A further note-- Aunt Lorene was a family
historian with a wealth of information about
the Schroeppel family. When she died, her
daughter Ida Ann Henze inherited most of the
information. Ida Ann still resides in
Collinsville but I don't have an address.

Bob Nicol

Schroeppel family from Collinsville, ILinois

Barbara,

I know quite a bit about the Schroeppel family from Collinsville as my mother was a
Schroeppel. Albert Schroeppel was a brother
of Harry Schroeppel of Memphis, Tenn. He had
several children, including Albert Jr., Stanley, Louise, Helen, Dorothy, Edith, Bertha (my mother), and Ida Mae. Ida Mae
married Lester Barth and died very early in
her life, Uncle Lester died last month. The
surviving members that I am aware of, include
Dorothy and Edith and I'm not sure if one of
the brothers is still alive or not. Both of
the boys moved, one to Detroit and the other
to Venice, Calif.

When I was in the Navy and stationed in
Memphis, I visited Uncle Harry and your mother and father. I also met you and your
sister. The year was 1952 so its likely you
may not remember.

These messages are so interesting. I am the
granddaughter of Dr. G. H. Schroeppel. His
former home is on the walking virtual tour
of Collinsville, Ill, web site. He and Grandma, Minnie Becker had 3 children, Harold, Beulah and Maxine, my mother. From
my visits to Collinsville, I remember a funeral home across on Main St. that was the
Schroeppel Funeral Home. Before Grandpa
became a doctor, he was a embalmer perhaps for a relative. Does anyone have any information as to who owned the funeral home?

Schroeppel Family from Collinsville, Illinois

Hello to all of you. My name is Barbara McCreedy from Memphis, TN. I have just started searching about the Schroeppel name. My grandfather was Henry Schroeppel from Collinsville. He had seven or eight brothers, and some sisters that lived in Collinsville. They were Annette Kluge, Emma Kluge and Lydia (I don't remember her last name). I believe there must be some connection, because I have an uncle named Harold, and my mother was Virginia Louise Schroeppel Dice. I only have two uncles alive now, and they don't remember much - 80 and 90. I found my Aunt Net's will in one of my mother's boxes (she passed away last May) and there was an Ida May Barth mentioned in my great aunt's will. I noticedd that a Carol Barth had posted a question. I would really love to find out any information you can give me, as I believe we have a Collinsville connection. My grandfather lived and died in Memphis. As a child, my mother and I would spend summers in Collinsville with Aunt Net. She lived on Sumner Blvd. I don't know anything about my great grandparents, and would love to know.

Thanks,
Barbara McCreedy - barjay17@mindspring.com

All the information I have is my great
grandfather John A. Schroeppel was from
Germany and was from the area in Illinois
around St Louis, MO. He was married to Louise
Finke. My grandfather, his son, was Dr. G. H.
Schroeppel of Collinsville, Illinois. Dr.
Schroeppel was born in Collinsville Dec. 27,
1870. He was one of eight children, the
youngest. I don't the others. John and Louise
came to America soon after their marriage.
Hope we are related somehow. It would be
great to find new relatives!

Hi
I saw the messages about a John Schroeppel.
On my gggrandparents marriage certificate from Louisville, Ky in 1890's the witness is a John Schroeppel could this be the same one? I know that Conrad and Pauline came to Louisville from Germany in the 1880's or early 90's and family lore says they came and met family but no one has ever been able to find who it was. Would love to hear from anyone who might shed some light.
Thanks,

Courtney

Becky, Your great grandfather was indeed
Dr. G. H. Schroeppel, if fact Dr. Gustave
Herman Rudolph Schroeppel. His parents were
John A. Schroeppel and Louise Finke Schroeppel. I'm afraid I don't have Grandma
Schroeppel's family information although
some Becker relatives came to my mother's
funeral in Collinsville Feb. 1997. The
Schroeppel mansion is on Collinsville's
web site walking tour. I have some good photos of your grandmother. I also have
1911 newspaper interview with Dr. Schroeppel.
Please notify me if interested.

Dr. G. H. (Gustav Hermann, I believe) was my great-grandfather. He lived and practiced in Collinsville, IL, was married to Minnie Becker; their children were Harold John Schroeppel, twins (deceased at infancy) Roy Arthur, my grandmother: Beulah Margaret Schroeppel (1st husband: Hugh Hampton Greer, 2nd husband: Wilfred [Whitey]Thorne of PA) and Maxine (who married Harold Barth). I have no information at all about Dr. Schroeppel's ancestry and would love to hear from anyone who does.
