Nearly forgot to ask. Who is your Mary Kelly. My grandmother Frances was a Kelly. I've been trying to find Kelly's. My grandmother's father was L. Frank Kelly and his father was Francis Waldren Kelley. I know my grandmother's family originated in Ireland somewhere near Limerick but I'm not certain. I've had confusing data that also shows Donegal, Ireland.

Any information?

Sandi

Hello, I am familiar with this person. My great grandfather was Charles Schweikert. My Charles was married to Sarah Jane McCammish. Their children were Lee, Belva, Grace, Florence and Otto (his son, born in 1899). My grandfather was Lee. Lee (Schweigert, name changed before the war)was married to Frances Kelly. Frances had a twin brother Frank. Their older sister was Hazel and younger brother was William. Lee and Frances had one daughter, my mother and then me. Charles was one of 18 children. He was born in Beetown, WI. His father was Johann Schweikert. Johann (John) was born in Wurtenberg Germany in 1826. Charles' mother was Wilhemina Trandt, born 1834. I hope this helps. I have photos of the family and the family home, I'll try to dig them out and scan them. Charles died in 1921 but Sarah Jane lived to 1962. I have very fond memories of her. I do have a wonderful photo of her and Charles. There is a possibility that Charles had a brother Otto, I'll have to look at my tree.

Sandi

Hello

I have a John Frederick Schweiker and wife Anna Mary Lang buried in Baltimore Cemetery with an October 14, 1811 birth date for John Frederick. They had at least one son, Christian, born about 1863 according to Census records in Baltimore (buried in Baltimore Cemetery without marker) and one daughter, Catherine R. Schweiker, born January 18, 1854 in Maryland, probably in Baltimore. Catherine was my Great Grandmother and married Conrad Frederick Kraeter in Baltimore. They are buried at Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore.

I think this may be the same person as your Johann Friedrich Schweiker. However, on his and Anna Mary's graves, it states they were both born in Halddorf, Wuerttemberg which does not seem to exist.

I am waiting on death certificates from the Maryland Archives for more information.

If you want to talk to me directly, email me at tejas@perigee.net

John Mason

Schweiker family in Philadelphia

I do not have all the information in front of me. However, in 1866 or 64 a George Schweiker was born into the family of Frederik Wilhelmin or Wilhelmin Frederik Schweiker. George was the third child. George had six brothers and sisters. The first two were named Charles, who liked to be called Chickie and Fred who died at nineteen. Wilhelmin owned a Butcher store at the intersections of 5th street, and Glenwood street, two or three blocks north of Allegheny. There is still a Butcher shop sign there. I do not know if the store is open. Some of the other children included Matilda and William, the youngest. I suspect the last two children were from a different mother than the first five. Some of them settled in Lansdowne, PA. George had two sons one named Wilbur, the other name escapes me at this time. I do have it written down at home. One of his brothers had a son, Richard, who became Senator from the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Wilbur and his brother started a Ceramic tile Business by the name of Franklin Tile, also located in Lansdale and which is now part of DAL Tile. I believe I am the Great Grandson of Charles who had three sons and one daughter, Fred, Alfred, Elwood and Alice. My father, William often called Bud, was a son of Alfred. He had a brother and two sisters, Elwood, Anna Mae and Betty. They were all from the Kensington and Juniata sections of Philadelphia and for a while resided on Lehigh Avenue. My Grandfather's brother, Fred, resided in Kensington as well, and until at least recently, has Children and Grandchildren living there. I have met some of them. My Grandfather's brother Elwood had a son named John who had a son named Mark who became Govenor of Pennsylvania in 2001. They grew up in the area around Levitown.

I can find them on the 1880 census, and the 1900 census, but am unable to locate them before or after.
Becky,
I have precious little on these families. Andrew Strube [1846 Prussia] m. Mary Schweiker d/o John Schweiger [1809] of Switzerland and Mary Marion Wolfert [1813c] Andrew and Mary had two daughters that I am aware of: Katherine who married Robert Rosboro ( my gt. uncle) and Emma who married David Clarke. Katherine died 1918 when her children were very small. The daughter Elizabeth went to live with Emma. Katherine is buried in the cemetery of the German Evangelical Protestant Church in Hurstville. Where are her parents buried ? Where is Robert Rosboro buried ? Is the German church still in use ? What is the background of Andrew Strube ?

You may contact me at rcthom@aol.com

My grandmother's maiden name was Mary Schweiker. She grew up--and still resides--in Philadelphia. She was born in 1918, and is the daughter of Elwood Schweiker and Helen Devlin Schweiker, also of Philadelphia. Whether or not there is a connection with Joseph Schweiker, I'm not sure, but I'd be interested to learn of other Schweikers from the Philadelphia area.
