Hi, Larry. I too am a direct descendant of Nathan Gilbert, through his daughter Rachel, and my D.A.R. application is in process. I'd love to compare notes with you. I currently live in Pennsylvania, not far from the Bucks County area where Nathan was born.

Glenna

dear virginia, regarding your post from long ago, i am distantly related to roseanne elkins sprogell (sprogell being my maiden name). roseanne would have been my father's uncle oscar's (b.1869, d.1958) daughter. his wife was elizabeth lawlor (b. 1874, d.1951). you may already know this. oscar died in elsmere, delaware. i have no info regarding elizabeth. don't know if i've added you in the search.
kathy

Larry,

The Warminster Gilberts are currently driving me nuts. The records I've found don't seem conclusive on how all the they were related, and the various books/family histories I've seen conflict each other. Might you be able to help me? We have quite a DNA mystery on our hands with them...we think.

Jane Gilbert
hokiejane@yahoo.com

http://www.janegilbert.org/gilbertdna/results.htm

I am a member of the Sons of the American Revolution as a direct decendant of Nathan Gilbert. I have extensive info on the Gilbert family. For your information Nathan died in March 1786 in Berkeley County Va. Elizabeth (Scout) Gilbert died sometime after 1824 while living with her son William in Brown County, Ohio. I know she died after 1824 because I have seen her handwritten will dated in 1824. My paternal Grandmother's maiden name was Nora Elizabeth Gilbert and she was born in Wayne County, IA in 1877. My interest in the Gilbert family name came from stories and information my Grandmother related to me.

Larry Woolis

Jerri: Thanks so much for doing this. I will sort this out as soon as I can get back to this side of the SCOUT genealogy research, but it is so nice of you to post this info. I am sure it is a valuable connection on this family line. Best regards!
I have a little information about Bertram SCOUT (age 24 according to the 1930 Census). He married my Grandfather's first cousin, Rosanna Sprogell, and they had 3 sons (all have passed away as young adults). Bertram SCOUT is dead, too. Rosanna was living in DE, the last time that I heard from her, about 2000. She would be about 93 years old now and was living near some of her grandchildren/great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law(s?). While I wrote to Rosanna several times in the late 1990's, I never wrote to any others in the SCOUT family. I have the dates of the births and deaths of Rosanna's husband and sons. If you want them, let me know.

Mary Andrews
