I have been researching the Sealy family from Gloucestershire to the present for about 10 years. It would appear that we are distant cousins.

What I have in the database is that your mother Dorothy Elizabeth Sealy was the daughter of William Crestwell Sealy and Anna Adeline Searth. William's parents were Edmund Carter Sealy and Emma Elizabeth Beken. Edmund Carter Sealy's parents were Edwin Sealy and Elizabeth Carter.

I can go back to about 1700 at this time.

When did your family come to Canada?

Did any of Edwin's siblings come to North America?

Regards
Brian Sealy
besealy@msn.com
Wonderful! I am related to him three ways. His son James E. Sealy is my paternal great great grandfather (wife Delilah); his daughter Delilah C. is my maternal great great grandmother(wife Delilah); his son Lorenzo A. is my maternal great great grandfather (wife Delilah). I believe that Elizabeth Mullins may actually be the mother of one of these, rather than Delilah, possibly Lorenzo A. Hopefully you can clear this up for me.

I'd also like to know if you have Lorenzo Dow as his father, and any information you may have on him. I have read that he died on the trip south. Thank you so much!

Hi,
I can give you some info on his years in Alaska and Michigan, up to the time he left for Austria. I would also love to hear anything you can tell me about his life before college. He was a dear friend of mine, too. Also, I have some photos and would love to share any you might have. It's his birthday today, BTW. I miss him so much. My email is lisakaye1224@msn.com.

Thanks,
Lisa

Hello there,
I was Damon's best friend throughout high school. We are having our 20th class reunion in July and he was the only person I really wanted to get in touch with again. The last time i saw him was 1994. The reunion website shows he passed away in 2000.
If there is any information you can give me I would appreciate it.
Thank You

I believe that I have seen the name Wiley A. Sealy while researching Sampson Sealy's ancestors and descendants, but I have not made a connection. I feel sure that they are related because of the name and nearness of their physical location. Maybe we will eventually find the connection.

My husband is the Sealy descendant. We have only visited Robeson County one time - in 2005. Probably some of the descendants who have remained in Robeson County, know considerably more about the connections between the early Sealy families.

If you would like to correspond with me to discuss the Sealy family, my e-mail address is:
elwjones@softdisk.com

Elsie Ward Jones

What a pleasant surprise! I have only recently started to seriously research the Sealey/Sealey/Celey branch of my family and have discovered that many of them lived and died within driving distance of where my wife and I retired in 2001,Pinehurst,N.C.I have tracked my branch of the Sealy family to Wiley Augustus Sealy of North Division,Robeson County in the 1860 Census.Along the way I came across Moore Tenton Sealy and his large, complex family, many of whom moved to Texas with him in the mid 1870's. I have not yet resolved his connection to my family other than the geographic thread, but I suspect there may be some connection between Moore Tenton and Wiley.Augustus Sealy.
Any info you may have in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to a beneficial transfer of info.

Floyd Maxton (Bud) Celey Jr.

I don't believe there are any Sealys in Sealy, Texas. I am descended from George Sealy of Galveston, Texas, whose brother was John Sealy. The original ones came from Pennsylvania to Galveston, Texas in about 1850. They became very rich in Galveston. The town of Sealy was a watering stop on the railroad that George Sealy got built from Galveston with other investors in the 1870s I think. I am from San Antonio but live in Houston. There are others in several Texas towns now, but none in Galveston. Also, none very rich anymore. Feel free to contact me if you need more info.

Taylor Sealy
sealyeng@nstci.com

I too am researching this line of Sealy's and have an obit of John C. Sealy showing that he dies in 1917 Butler Co. Ga and was married to Lovie Smith. He was the brother of Eldora(Dora) Sealy Mathews who was listed in 1860 as 9 years should have been 9 months with her brother John C. Sealy and father Wyatt Sealy. Dora named her son Glenn Sealy Mathews andlisted in Alabama. I have proven this by the 1880 census and also the obit from her brother John C. Sealy and futher family records and census information.

Eldora is definitely a daughter of Wyatt Sealy and Mary Adeline Stearns. Her husband appears to have died bet. 1898 and 1900, at which time she and her children migrated to Alexander City, Tallapoosa Co, AL where her brother Simeon had moved previously. She and her widowed sister-in-law, Alice Christian Sealy, are neighbors in 1920 in the Tallapoosa Co census there. She moved on to Oklahoma by 1930, where she is found living with her bachleor son Guy C. Matthews in Blaine Co. Thanks for the explanation of her birth date.

I haven't been able to verify any of the following information, but George was evidently one of three brothers who came from Ireland. I don't know their names. George's wife was Dutch and Scottish. George had four sons, Peter, Nelson, John, and Abraham, and a daughter, Elinor.
