I would be happy to see anything you would like to share about the Seeley family. Amelia Seeley married a revolutionary war soldier when he was 70 and she was just 35. She had already been married with several children and her first husband passed. She had two children with the soldier and then he passed. She married a third time and had at least one more child. I had noticed that some of the Seeley family migrated to MI - we are from there, too. Thank you for all your help. Connie

Hi Connie: I am a life long citizen of Michigan. I would love to have the time to investigate the areas in New York that you mentioned. I was given a copy of Daniel Seeley's Will, and was witnessed by Aurelia Harger. Maybe the Harger family were close friends. Millia sounds like a possible nick name for Aurelia.
Daniel also mentions all of his sons and his daughters. I don't have much on who his daughters married and am happy to share with you anything that I have on him. I didn't know there was a daughter Amelia, and Millia would fit. That make since to me. I just don't understand why Aurelia Harger was a witness. Let me know if I can send you an invitation to my MyFamily site. It would be an honor, and happy to learn more about my cousins!
I would like to go to the Ballston/Saratoga/Half Moon area to do some investigating. Are you familiar with the area? Is there a courthouse in each of these cities? I know that my Amelia Seeley was married to Filkins, then Sylvester, then Shepherd (or Sheperd) - this is why I do not believe she is your Aurelia/Millia Harger. But if you do have the Filkins/Sylvester/ or Shepherd names in your Seeley tree, could you let me know? thank you for all of your help. Connie

Daniel Seeley's Will lists a daughter named Aureila/Millia Harger. Every family has nick names. I would be happy to send you an invite to my site. Your Grandmother could very well be the daughter of Daniel Seeley. His first wife was Lydia Comstock and she died the same year Aurelia was born. This could add a reason for the history that you found. Pheobe Ball Wood was married to someone by the last name of Wood. This also adds to the history. Maybe someone in the Comstock family had someone by the name of Amelia, not sure at the moment. Don't give up this now>>>>Paul

Thank you - as I look at your info I am thinking there is no relation here. Amelia Seeley was almost certainly born 1789-1791, not earlier. She was born in Ballston/Half Moon/Saratoga area and an ABGI says her mother was also named Amelia Wood and died in childbirth. Not sure now that Daniel is her father, especially since your will paperwork does not list her as a child and she did not die until 1850 in Vinton County, OH. Will keep searching.
Lydia Comstock died in 1784, and Aurelia/Millia was born 6 Dec 1784. She may have been Lydia's last child, and possibly the reason Lydia giving birth to her was her last gift to life. You may not have to look to much further.

Aurelia was listed as Aurelia Harger on her fathers will, and I see many folks have her as a daughter to Edward Harger. I am now guessing daughter in-law. She later married Thomas Penifield 21 April 1811.

pnseeley@juno.com

Paul Seeley

Check with the Brookside Museum, or the Clerk record books in Albany. I have a bunch of info on Daniel as well as his Will. He lists his daughters at the time of death as Lucy, Millia(Aurelia Harger) Martha. I see you state Amelia could be the same person. Daniel married Lydia Comstock in Fairfield, CT, and Pheobe Ball Wood in Ballston, NY. Hope this helps. :)

I didn't look for any Seeley other than the ancestors of my mother-in-law Sylvia Seeley, whichent back to 1465. I definitely don't recall a "joel" or Zac in my search. Sorry I can't help you.
A potential marriage of Daniel Seeley

GGG Grandmother is Amelia Seeley Filkins Sylvester Shepherd born around 1790. Trying to trace her parents for years and feel that her father is Daniel Seeley, son of Hezekiah and Joannah and born December 8 1751 (Connecticut) and died 1807 in Saratoga, NY. Have learned that her mother may have been Amelia Woods who may have passed several days after GGG Amelia was born (which would explain why she was also named Amelia). In tracing public trees for Daniel see that he was married before this birth, but wife number 1 passed and was married after this birth, but is it possible he was married a 3rd time (between the two wives) to Amelia Woods? Any idea where I could search for a marriage record for Daniel/Amelia or a birth record for Amelia? Have exhausted all of my internet resources.

I'd like to connect with members of the Josiah Seeley family who moved from Stamford, CT to the Harpersfield, NY area in about 1785. Does anyone have information concerning Asenath Seeley who married (1.) William Loomis and later (2.)Gamaliel Loomis? Where did William and Asenath marry? Where did they live? Where did they live when William died in about 1806? There were children from both marriages. Does anyone have information regarding William Loomis, son of William and Asenath Loomis? Thank you for any help you can provide.
