Hi, Thank you for your reply and research! YES it is my GGGG Grandfather David that died in 1866 and is buried in Cooma NSW.
I did some research and applied to the NSW BMD website and I have a copy of his original death certificate, but with NO details on his father, but I am as we speak, awaiting 3 letters written in his defence when he was found guilty of "Forging a Bill of sale" in 1827, I dont know if you have ever dealt with "The National Archives" but I have been waiting for the letters for 3 months now :-(
Shaun

I'm looking for any Sefton (Sephton) in Hallsal in Lancashire. My interest is in an Edward SEFTON, a farmer who had a daughter Jane SEFTON, born abt 1834 in Hallsal and she married William WATSON in 1861. I'd be really interested to hear from anyone who has Sefton/Sephtons from this area and would also appreciate it, if someone would be able to look up the 1841 census records for Edward and daughter Jane.

Thanks.

im researching the line of william sefton(my childrens great great great grandfather) born 1840 in Lincolnshire England, the Valentine could be his brother/uncle/cousin...does anyone have a William(no middle name)Sefton born on date above etc. that ties to a Valentine Sefton(we believe he went to USA?) somehow? They rented neighbouring houses and land together from the same landlord in the parish of tullylish Ireland in 1864.I am really hitting a brick wall with this one...havent been able to trace who williams parents or siblings were??...
william married mary finlay in Tullylish church of Ireland in 1866 they had a son in ireland 1867 named valentine(my childrens great great grandfather) followed by jane in ireland 1868 then had sarah in 1870 in lincolnshire england...then they left england from london onboard the ship Zealandia heading for Auckland New Zealand in july 1874..had a daughter born onboard the ship named esther, once in NZ the had william john in 1877 and henry in 1879 and lastly robert in 1881...its possible mary died soon after, and william remarried mabel hill in 1888 and had mabel in 1889 and william frederick in 1892 and possibly others??? but not confirmed yet...william died in nz in 1917 aged 58 going by online death records...any help on williams parents/siblings England/Ireland/USA?? would be wonderful as would info on williams childrens lines in NZ

I have some information concerning William O. Sefton. He was the son of Henry Sefton and Elizabeth Boyles. Henry was the son of John Sefton and Elizabeth Wootten from Maryland. I am decended from William Sefton who was Henry's brother. William lived in PA. The family thought William came from Ireland but I have linked him to John in Maryland. It is all a mystery to me as to why he told his family that he was from Ireland and instructed them not to attemt to contact any family there. Please contact me and I will share what info I have with you.

I suggest you get in touch with Mrs. Anne Park, nee Sefton, 27 Sulby Drive, Lancaster, Lancs. LA1 4UB England. She has been researching Sefton family history for 22yrs and met Nora Sefton before she died. She has written a book on the Seftons which includes your great great grandparents James and Sarah and all their descendants, mentioning Thomas Nathan Sefton and William and Catharine on page 57. In addition she has a photo album of James and Sarah and all their many children. Nora Sefton and Hilda Pickering were cousins. Their exact relatioonship to Thomas Nathan could be claryfied by Mrs. Park who is unfortunately not on the net but can be reached by telephone - 01524 65504 Hope this has been of use

Also have a ancestor who came over in a whiskey barrel that was a second son. Was said that his uncle stole his money. He would not talk about his family once in the US. Have picture of Thomas Sefton and his wife Jane E. Picture of him was taken in Ashland, Ohio and of her in New Castle, Pa. My greatgrandfater was Orlando Sefton who was the son of Thomas. He met his wife Mary Smiley at a family reunion in Pa. They were related from several generations back. Do not have all my records at hand but figure Thomas was born around 1847. I know that several of his sons were in the Civil Was. Have additional info about them. Orlando settled in Kansas and was a blaksmith. They lived in Sedgwick, Ks and in Wichita, Ks.

John Sefton and Ellen Cunliffe were married Sept.1895 in Prescot Lancs. The 1901 Census finds them in Warrington ??Lancs with three children, Oswald Daniel 4, Henry 2 and Frances 5 months. They also have living with them Marion Rigby age 16. John is listed as the prop. of the White Ram Inn. In previous Census Ellen is listed as a "tailoress". Ellen Cunliffe was my Great Aunt, daughter of James and Mary Florence Cunliffe, St. Helen's. Ellen is the eldest of 10 children. Her siblings were, William Henry, Mary Alice, Margaret, Jonathan, James, Teresa, Agnes, Joseph and Francis. Several of them came to Canada. Anyone recognize this family?
Cheers,
Nickie

Hi,
I have Elizabeth M. Sefton being born 1 Apr 1901 in Washington DC and her death 18 Jul 1961 in Washington DC re: Charles Kerwood's Military papers.

Charles Kerwood was born 1 Aug 1897 d. 15 Dec 1976 per Obit. in Washington DC

They had a son Wayne b. 20 Feb 1929 d. 28 Sept 1984. He is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Bronx NY. I have written to the cemetery and sent a check for the internment list but they don't have the time to look it up. They are suppose to hire someone to do genealogy. So if I hear from them and it is Wayne Sefton Kerwood I will let you know. I have not found anything to say he was married so far. Keep in touch
longtree@pe.net Mary

Seeking information on Merrill O. and Lovell E. Crane Sefton and their daughter Florence R. of Johnson County, IN as shown on the 1930 census. Directly above this couple are the parents of Lovell and above the Cranes are two other Sefton families, A. Leo and Thomas H. I would like to correspond with anyone researching these families particularly Merrill O and Lovell E. Crane Sefton. Thank you.

Re: Sarah Sefton, Liverpool

From what I can gather, my ancestors came from Preston/Hothersall, Lancashire, England. My ggrandfather, William, had 8 siblings, one of which was James (b1838) and Sarah (b1825). Their parents were James and Sarah. William married Catherine Smithers and they had 8 children, of which my grandfather, Thomas, came to Canada. Since Liverpool is not that far away, it is possible that there is a relationship.
