Re: Siedler/Sitler/Sittler Families of Preussen and Bas-Rhin

I think Preussen is called Prussia in English and Bas-Rhin is "lower Rhine". Westfalen is Westphalia. Most of the Eastern Pennsylvania families (including mine) use the spelling Sittler.

Charles,

Is that why "Charles SEITLER" appears everywhere? I guess having three of them in a row (in pretty much the same geographic region) will do that!

As far as I know, our branches aren't connected--at least, not on this side of the Atlantic. However, my (S/Z)EITLER forefathers arrived in Baltimore and apparently stayed there for about a century. I'd be happy to share what I have, though I'm not sure whether or not it would help.

Seeking: Anton (SEITLER/ZEITLER), Margaret ? from Germany 1868

I have recently found my g-g-g-grandfather and g-g-g-grandmother through a combination of the 1890 U.S. Census and an 1890 Baltimore, MD city directory. According to the census, Margaret came to the U.S. from Germany in 1868, and their firstborn (Edward SEITLER) was born in 1869, so I am assuming that Anton (appeared to be abbreviated; perhaps Antony?) and Margaret were married before emigration.

Has anyone come across these names in their own searches?

Thank you!
Travis Seitler
