Does anyone have him in their lines? He was born 27 January 1827 in Montreal. I believe the name possibly was changed to Sniker, then to Snaker, then to Snakard when he immigrated to the US in 1849.

Francois-Xavier Senecal (Joseph, Josephe Coallier) m. Genevieve Champagne (Pierre, Marguerite Gibault) on 26 AUG 1851 Boucherville, QC, CAN.
Pierre or Joseph Jean-Baptiste Beaugrand-Champagne and Marguerite Guilbault/Gibeau got married on 22 JAN 1787 Sorel, QC, CAN.
Joseph Jean-Baptiste Beaugrand-Champagne died in 1818, which indicates that Genevieve was more than 32 years old when she married F-X Senecal (26 years old).
Did she get married before? The mariage record with F-X Senecal doesn't say she was widow.
I couldn't find the birth date of Genevieve Champagne. Any help would be very appreciated.

My husband's family,Senecal, have lived in Plattsburgh for many years. Lawrence "pete" and his son Lawrence A.Senecal. Also his Aunt Barbara is still in Plattsburgh.

Plattsburgh is full of Senecal. Its like Smith there. My husband is Jeffrey Senecal, son of Lawrence Senecal. His whole family is from there.

I have been in touch with Marilyn, Noel, and Gloria and have received all kinds of information, including a picture of them at a young age (possibly their wedding?) as well as at an old age (Catherine standing and bearded Joseph sitting). Do you have Lillians last name (maiden name)? I have Augustus b.1858 married to Mary Redding or Redeling. There was more than one Augustus. This family member was b. in Redwood, N.Y. I believe he was the son of William, born in Chambly, Quebec.

As the first names of Alfred's parents are a rare combo, I would think that he was the son of Alfred Senecal and Edwidge Mailloux married 13 Jan 1846 St-Philippe, LaPrairie, Quebec.

If you're still on ancestry.com several years later than this post, we have common ancestors. My 3rd great grandmother was Helene Celina Stride, married to my 3rd great grandfather Jeremiah Senecal Feb 11, 1868. I'm not sure of all their children, but my direct ancestor was their son Israel born July 3, 1880 in Quebec. I know the family did end up in Minnesota sometime later.

My MacKinnons originally came from Mull, Scotland, and immigrated to Prince Edward Island, Canada in 1808. Pearl MacKinnon, who married Noe DuPont, was the daughter of Margaret MacKinnon, who was unmarried. Margaret was the daughter of John Archie MacKinnon, son of Cowan Rankin MacKinnon, son of Charles MacKinnon who immigrated in 1808. Pearl and Noe were never divorced, but he remarried - Pearl ended up in California with her 3 sons.

Re your message 21/8/2009 - you mention a Margaret mckinnon, her brother and an uncle Roger. Were your mckinnon relatives born in Jarrow, South Shields, England? My wife's family have McKinnons, and one son Roger we know went to Australia. He was born approx. 1883 in Jarrow and was one of nine children. His parents were Roger McKinnon (born 1842) in Scotland and Margaret, born 1847 in Consett, Durham, England.

In 1891 the McKinnon family were living at 6 Grant Street, Jarrow, South Shields, England.

Elizabeth married in 1899 Henry Dodds in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. They had three sons, John Dodds and Joseph Dodds (twins) born 7.11.1902 Sadly Joseph died at two days old on 9.11.1902. Another son Henry Scott Dodds was born 1905 and died in 1942 during world war 2. He is buried in Belgium.

Hope some of this information may lead to a family connection.

(not having much luck on either of them.) I'm finding more on my side of the family- which is great for me....some info is better than nothing :) but I've hit a "brickwall" on his side and it's getting depressing. (especially to my husband- he thought I'd find more than what I have after so long.)

My Dad was born in 1918, but he was the youngest and has 4 brothers and sisters: Arthur Jr, John, Yvonne and Gabrielle.

This would mean my grandparents would have taken a 5 year lull between the 4 week old child in 1913 and my dad.

Indeed, the family lived on Grant street in Longueuil, about 800 feet from the shore of the St Lawrence and flooding was an annual event, all the way to St Charles st, which is the main street running parallel to the river and my mom used to tell us how they would have to travel by row boat down main street every spring, which means my grandparents house, which is beautiful and still stands today, would have been flooded up to close to the second floor.

Thanks for corresponding! I have some very dear friends in the Adirondacks and am particularly fond of America and proud my grandmother was American. I will send what info I have at home when I return there in January.

Yes, her baptismal record has her name as Flavie Albina - she was baptized December 23, 1882 at St Peters Church in Plattsburgh. Keep in touch - I have a couple of newspaper articles on her and my great grandfather. One from 1913 that states she and 4 children stayed with Andrew because her home in Longueuil had flooded. It states that one child was only 4 weeks old.

Sure sounds like my grandmother. I was born in 1944 and do not remember her as she died when I was still very young.

I am in Florida presently but have some info at home. I seem to recall her first name may have been Albina or perhaps Eva Albina. I will check the info when I get home and get back to you.

I believe your grandmother was the younger sister to my great grandfather Andrew George Senecal. I have Eva as being the 14th child born to Adrien Peter Senecal born December 27, 1837 in Varennes, Vercheres, and Julia Labrecque born July 8, 1840 in Keesville, NY.

Adrien came to the US when he was 5 months old with his parents Adrien Senecal and Elizabeth Goupil.

He died March 21, 1906 in Plattsburgh and Julia died March 27, 1915 in Plattsburgh.

I have Eva as being born December 16, 1882 in Plattsburgh. She Married Joseph Arthur Gareau on April 16, 1906 in St. Peter Catholic Church in Plattsburgh.

I have her death date as April 15, 1946 in Longueuil.

Does this sound correct? I have lots of information on her family if you would like it. Let me know

I am french canadian, living in Québec. My grand mother was Eva Senecal, born in Plattsburgh probably around 1880. She married my grand father Arthur Gareau and returned to Longueuil, Que. I was told her parents had gone to the U.S. probably during the war of 1812 by sailing up the Richelieu river to Lake Champlain. I know there were and still are quite a few Senecal families in the Boucherville and Varennes areas, on the South Shore of theSt Lawrence, about 10 miles downstream of Montreal and I suspect this is were she came from. For what it's worth.

For your info, my dad is Harvey Arthur, his father was Chester Harvey & his grandfather Daniel Senecal. I have a tree going back to Louis Senecal. Hope to hear from you, Lou
