I was also told by my grandmother that I was also Juaneno Indian. My great great great grandfather was Mattias Olivares who was supposedly born in San Juan Capistrano. His daughter was my great great grandmother who married Jose Valenzuela.Boy this gets confusing. What is your relation to the Olivares and Serranos. My great grandmothers sister married a Serrano from Orange County. Maybe somewhere down the line we are related. Where are you from? We also have a registration number. Do you know who Ascencion Olivares is?

My father was also named Jose Prendes, and his father Prudencio Prendes was also from Carrio, Asturias. Their family still lives in the towns of Carrio, Gijon, and Aviles in Asturias. There is also a town of Prendes in Asturias. We were aware of one or two other Jose Prendes in Ybor City, but we believed them to be unrelated to us, but if they were all from Asturias, I guess anything is possible.

Sincerely,
Sharon Keene

I just read this. My name is Mary Chudyk. I am VERY new to Ancestry.com. My maternal grandfather was Jacob Wilcosky who sounds like he is your grandfather's brother, Stephen. I also heard from my mother, Marie, (Jacob's daughter), that they had a brother named Peter who left home during WWI and never returned. My mother said Jacob's wife, Mary (my maternal grandmother) tried to find out Peter's whereabouts. The story goes that when the Red Cross contacted Peter that his family was trying to find him, he replied that he didn't have any family. My mother thinks he changed his name to McClosky or something like that. I and Jacob's descendents live in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Unfortunately, my mother died in 2010 so I don't have any info. I would be interested if you have any further info on the lost brother Peter.

I have several geneologies that I am attempting to upload, but fact are different sometimes (e.g., dates, cities). The best information I have is a couple of biographies from my grandmother who would have been Auntie Joyce's (this is what we grew up calling her) mother. Are you the daughter-in-law of Lenore (we grew up calling her Nora) and Carl Fowler? I have pictures of your dad as a little boy and his brother. I have a few pics of Nora as a young girl and beautiful pics of my aunt when she was young. I will attempt to upload them in a couple weeks. It is a busy time since school starts tomorrow and I have homework to complete, so I cannot stay online. I will try to keep in touch. Next week is my father's (your husband's maternal grandmother's brother's) birthday and I will be out of town visiting. Have to run but I will try to keep in touch. Your best bet is FBing me!

Actually, they settled in Southern California. They entered from Larado, Texas. There are several boarder crossings listed. The started a small town in Omaha, Nebraska. Three brothers Bonifacio, Jose Concepsion, and Frank (Francisco Chavez). I have a picture of the bar, pool hall, barber shop that they owned if you are interested. During the depression I was told they lost everything and became migrant (beet) workers. I have pictures of the daughters and my grandma working in a field. I'm not sure of the date. It is funny that everyone was born in different states. My uncle in Topeka, Kansas and for sure my dad was born in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. If you have any history to add I am interested I do have the bibliography of John Serran from 1911 to 1924. I have a very extensive family tree on My Heritage that I will attempt export into this one. I believe my cousin's the Fowlers, Delara, and Gomez are using this one. I am attempting to obtain christening images from Mexico in an effort to obtain birth dates for all family members. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in combining geneologies.

Angel ran under the last name of Gonzales but Baptismal shows Concepcion Rangel as his mother and Eugenio Cedillas as his father: which seems to substantiate that we were always told that the name of Gonzales was Angel's step-fathers name. Do you have any info to add as to the Cedillas background? How do you about Angel?
I had gotten in contact about 2003 with San Juan Capistrano, Juaneno Tribal and I was informed that the Ruiz Native American lineage was traced back on the Accession Oliveras side. That they were removed from their tribal rolls, is new info to me.

Have you talked to Ryan and Diana Bracamontes? They are looking for that info as well. My great great grandparents are the same as yours. I am on the Ruiz side. I did get my papers that said I was 1/8 Juaneno from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, but the Juaneno office in San Juan disputes our claims.
