Mary Call and Lucina Call are sisters that married Perrigrin
Sessions. These sisters are also sister to my direct ancestor Sarah Call born 1828 and all daughters of Cyrill Call and Sally or Sarah (Tiffany) Call.

I would love to have the picture of which you speak of Mary Call and a picture of her tombstone.
Sessions family

Have been looking for years for my Sessions family history. My Father in law, John Richard Sessions did not know much of his genealogy. When he ask his Dad he got little to nothing. I know John Richard Sessions was born in Gonzales County Texas (he knew that much) his father was James Sessions called Jim I hear. His Dad James came from a Father nammed James and that James from John Sessions. I have tried to track them and found some that looked correct but not sure any way not much of it. I have all of John Richard Sessions info ie marriage children etc and his family ie Sisters and Brothers. I have one Uncle and Aunt. Being that all of the ones that can help me that I know of have passed away I hope to find other family members someplace. All the ones I know were in Texas If others can be shown to me I would appreciate it so much.

Information on Sessions Family Genealogy

I am a descendant of David and Patti Bartlett Sessions from either Newry, Maine or Vershire, Orange Co. VT around 1790.
I am trying to find a family organization which has a genealogy established which has a "Sourced" information. I see a lot of speculation I wanted to see if there is a resource to go to which emphasizes this.
I would like to work with them to help in making sure the line is pretty reliable through sourced information.

This is all have on W.G.W. Sessions. I haven't been actively looking on Ancestry.com for a while -- thank you SO MUCH for the information. I will have a good time researching it.

Genealogy of Daniel Mayo Sessions

●William G. W. Sessions, born 1808 S.C. His mother was born in Ga. He was a clerk by trade, On Dec. 31, 1863 fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War; was private in 5th Ala. Infantry Regiment, Co. K (enlisted in Ala.), according to the Ala. Civil War Muster under Capt. J. M. Gilchrist. Lived in Wilcox, Ala.; in 1843 married Mary Ann Evans. Their children were:
•James Y., born May, 1844, Ala.; was miller by trade.
In the Civil War (1861-1865) muster, there is a
James Sessions listed as a private in the Alabama
Cavalry, Lenoir’s Independent Company, Ala.
Regiment, Confederate Army. I don’t know if this
is the same James Sessions. Also a James Sessions
in the lst Regiment, Ala. Infantry, Confederate
Army. He was a private going in and coming out.
In 1867 married Amanda Thompson, born June, 1847;
her father was born in Ala. They listed no children
on the census form. On the 1880 census it looks
like Lewis Thompson (age 45) and Elizabeth Thompson
(age 72, mother-in-law) are living with Amanda (age
32) and “John” Sessions (age 35)? No children are
listed.
The 1910 federal census lists James (age
65) “Manda” (age 63) living in Jones Mill, Monroe
Co., Ala.
•Martha G., born Jan., 1846 Wilcox Co., Ala. – see
attached for marriage to James L. Cone, born
2-11-1843 Wilcox Co., Ala.
•Sarah, born 1849 Ala.

In 1860 census W.G.W.’s real estate was valued at $200, and his personal estate at $100. Wife is listed as Sarah, age 43, born 1817 Ga.; she could not read or write. They lived in Wilcox co. and listed 7 children:
•James, born 1844 Ala. (above)
• E., born 1848 Ala.
• B., born 1852 Ala.
• Sarah, born 1850 Ala. (above)
• William, born 1854 Ala.
• A., born 1856
• Jno., born 1859 Ala.
Only the two oldest children attended school.
W.G.W.’s daughter Martha is not mentioned.

Blessings to you,
Ercie Hill

You may have already found the info you needed since this is a few years old, but I've tracked down W.G.W. as the brother of my 3rd GGF John Barton Sessions. His full name was William Grantham Walter Sessions and his children were Ellar Jane, John James, Martha Ann, Murry Morell, Sarah Ellen, Jaret Elza, and William Barton. I have found references to their parents being Walter Sessions and Ann Morris but can't find any proof. Have you been able to trace their parentage back since you posted this?

I have records for Cornelius V. Sessions b.13 Jan 1828 in Stowe, VT. He was the son of Thomas Sessions and Mathena Dake. He married (bef 1854) Abigail Pratt b. 1835 in Mansfield, VT. They had 4 children: David P. b. 11 Apr 1854 in Stowe, d. 1905; Ira J. b. 1859 in VT, d. aft 1870; Isaac C. b. 8 Mar 1861 in Stowe, d. aft 1870; Arabell b. 23 May 1863 in Stowe, d. 16 Jun 1864 in Stowe. Cornelius died 24 Mar 1863 in Ocaquan, VA (Civil War -Co. E. 13th Vt.). His Death Record shows he was "born in Stowe, was a Soldier and cause of death was Measles, Father- Thomas Sessions". He is buried in West Branch Cemetery, Stowe, Vermont. Abigail died 12 Sep 1864 in Stowe. She is also buried in West Branch Cemetery, Stowe.
David P, son of Cornelius and Abigail, appears in the 1860 US Census for Stowe with his parents and brother, Ira J. He is still in Stowe for the 1870 US Census, residing with Presson and Lucy M. Gale. In 1880 he appears with his wife, Alpa M., in Wolcott, Lamoille, VT. He is listed in the 1883 Directory for Wolcott. (Page 391)
I hope this helps you sort out this branch of the Sessions famiy.
~Lorie

I am also looking for any information on this family. According to the Greensboro town website, however, the first white settlers settled into the area 20 years after Nancy Ann Sessions was purportedly born there. Perhaps we should be looking elsewhere for information on her birth.

William Knotts may have come from the Knotts of Queen Anne's Cty, MD, but probably not from the marriage of James Knotts and Anne Scott as many other forums have suggested. James and Anne were married in 1743, but it is likely that this is the same James Knott who died in 1750 (listing Ann as his wife in the will), before William was born.

Any other input would be very helpful, thanks!

I am looking for anyone that might be willing to share any information they know on the sessions family line. Audrey Sessions was my grandmother that I lost contact with in 1994 and thus really have no information on this side of my family line and I am trying to find anything that I can to fill in the giant gaping hole in my family tree. She was married to Robert Sargent and they met at kent state university in the 1940's they gave birth to a few kids the last of which was my father Andrew Sargent born 1963. There kids were Alexa, Robert, Christopher, & Andrew. Robert Sargent died 1995-96ish. They lived in Rocky River Ohio for a long period of time. As far as I know the Sessions family line came over on the mayflower and there is still a lot of the family around Massachusetts since they helped found 1/2 the area. Can you help me???

Hi Sheila,

My ancestor Dan S. Root (of the 3rd Michigan Infantry) wrote the following in his journal, which is why I ask:

June 10th, 1862
No change of camp yet. Acting as officer of the guard today. It has been raining continually. Considerable cannonading. Got a letter from Morse. Contained the first news of the death of Sessions. Poor fellow, no braver or better man has been sacrificed in this unholy war.

It's always been a mystery to me because I have never been able to find a Sessions who died in that year.

Morse refers to Dan's boyhood friend Allen Benton Morse who was in the 16th Michigan Infantry. Both Dan and Morse were from Ionia County Michigan.

Thank you for responding!

Katie
