Thank you for the family information. I would love to see your extant family tree of the Sevenoaks side. My email is ssinnock@netzero.com. I was able to find one of your ancestors, Edward, m 1702, in the Peasmarch Parish Register. It was a marriage entry so was not tied to anyone except Ann Blackman, so thanks for tieing up a few of the many loose ends I have in my database. I also found a reference to Richard Sevenoaks who married Susanna Deck in Beckley, 27 Mar 1758. Beckley is between Northiam and Peasmarch and they are all within a about four miles. Another Sevenoaks, Eleanor, was married 1 Jul 1800 in Beckley. Perhaps Richard remarried or perhaps Richard had a son Richard and maybe a daughter or granddaughter, Eleanor.
I knew the story of William Sevenoaks being adopted by William Rumsched in about 1380 and becoming mayor (perhaps Lord Mayor)of London. Before that he was a grocer, a highly respectable position then. There is a book "The Sevenoaks School and its Founder" by J. T. Lennox, 1932.

Edward Sevenoaks b Jan 1816 Crayford, mar Elizabeth Ann Audsley 12 Oct 1844
His father was William Sevenoakes b 26 Nov 1774 Crayford marr Mary Peacock 21 Feb 1811
His father was William Sevenoakes b 1749 Northiam, Sussex marr Ann Swaisland 28 Jul 1773
His father was Richard Sevenoaks b 1712 Peasmarsh, Sussex. marr Susannah Carpenter 02 Apr 1738
His father was Edward Sevenoaks b abt 1680 marr Ann Blackman 19 Jul 1702 Peasmarsh, Sussex.

Does anything you have tie in with this.

I do have copies of the documentaion, including the will of what is said to be the first Sevenoaks, a boy found in a hollow tree, raised by a well positioned person and given the name of the village he was found in, Sevenoakes/Sennokes. He ended up being a Lord Mayor of London the year following Dick Wittington.

I have been researching the Sinnock name, which is derived from the Sevenoaks and Sennoke name over a period from the 1500's to 1700's. In the International Genealogical Index I found a William Sevenoaks born 8 May 1785, son of Daniel and Mary Holder and grandson of William, from the Brenchley, Kent area, only about 20 to 25 miles from Crayford. Perhaps these are your ancestors.

Does any one have any info about Thomas Sevenoaks, born 1771, married to Elizabeth Furner in 1801 in Dover, and died in 1826. Possibly born and died in Northiam, Sussex, England.

George Sevenoaks

Does anyone know anything of George Sevenoaks born in Northiam, Sussex in 1806? He was living in Brecon, Wales by the 1851 census - or do you know of any other sevenoaks who left kent or sussex to live in wales in the early 19th century. Also an Edward Sevenoaks who was a carpenter living in northiam in 1804? Thanks

I am interested in making contact with anyone having information about Alice Sevenoaks, b 20 Jan 1871 in England. She immigrated to the US in 1884, married Fritz Werner and lived in San Antonio, TX until her death in 1950.

My immediate (Sevenoaks) family consists of three brothers and two nephews. We were all born in London although we now live in other parts of the UK.
My father's name was George Arthur and he died in 1971.
He had a brother named Henry who settled in Bakersfield CA around 1940 (I would love to learn more about him if anyone has any information!)
My grandfather's name Alfred and he was killed in 1916
His father was William.

It would seem that my branch of Sevenoaks were residing in Camberwell, London area, beginning of 1900's. So far I've only got to George Henry Sevenoaks, grandfather. Any info. would be useful. Thanks

I would appreciate a copy of your family tree. I haven't really started my family trace, my mother died last August & the only details that I have so far are name, Amelia Annie Sevenoaks, dob 8.12.21 Camberwell, London, orphaned & taken `into care' in London 1927. It was not a subject ever discussed & not one I dared approach (when I eventually found out) because she obviously suffered greatly during her childhood.
Anyway, with the aid of the internet & a visit to the Public Record Office in London later this year, hopefully some of my questions will be answered.
