My life partner, Max Sevy's Grandfather, Mordo Sevy was from Constantinople, Turkey, born in 1901 and died in 1957 in San Mateo County, CA. Max's Father, Lazare Sevy doesn't know much about his Father because his father was always taken off to start another family. He did suceed in doing that in San Mateo County, CA where in died leaving three child. Mordo's wives maiden name was Benbansti.

If you have any info contact Max at Hitchheick@aol.com.

I read your message and can tell you that Regina Sevi, born in Malta, is my grandmother and her husband Leon Behar, born in Constantinople, was in the carpet business - they married in Manchester. They had five daughters, one died when little. They came to London after the birth of their first daughter. The surviving four sisters were: Victoria, Ruth, Dorothy & Pearl. Of the next generation; there are two - myself (mother: Ruth) and David (mother: Victoria) who has two children. Dorothy is the only one still alive, at 88 yrs.and she is a widow - she is very excited that we have found some family. I knew Rachel (known as Rae) very well, as she came to London from the Isle of Man quite often. I think there is some family in the USA but don't know details, although Dorothy says Bert is the one who went to the USA. Do get in touch. Thanks,
Frances Smith (nee Benardout)

Carolyn,
Why not click on the yellow 'Image' symbol at the left of Raphael's name, and view the census image? There is a small charge, but you'll be able to see the record for yourself - and find out if there were people with other surnames in the household.
My bet is that the transcriber misread a long thin 'S' for a fancy 'L'. But the only way to be sure is look at the image.
Best wishes,
Hugh
