Hi, I did not want to keep you waiting for a reply. I have beem researching my father's families for many many years now, and do know that the name Ghinis is not related directly. I am in touch with someone whom we believe may be of a famial link, but we are awaiting very expensive dna testing, which will take many months. I will be in touch with this family soon, and let them know you are looking into the name Ghinis. Thank you. The subject names are the names that I have know to be of my father's family. He lived in the United States,(Louisiana) and Egypt, and was educated in Europe. If any of the subjects names fit into your family let me know. Best regards, ChrisS.

Did they marry, to whom where and when.

Census may be able to shed some light on this in Cambridgeshire, Shropshire, Essex, Cumberwall etc, but I have no access to census.

Thank you for any and all available information primarily on Edward Seville.

Barbara

Charles W. Seville had a sister, Amy Albright Seville, who was my grandmother. There are a lot of relatives here in Maryland. My father was Theodore Lawrence, Amy's son. I know that William Penn Seville's father was John Seville, b. 1803 or 04 in DE and John's wife was Catharine H. Wells Seville whose dad was John Wells b. 1784 in PA wife Elizabeth Hocker b.31 Aug 1794. Have you found any more info on this part of the family? Thank you.

Hi, Christine,

My maternal grandmother's family was always a black hole to us and I've always felt it because I know so much about the rest of my family. Here are a few more items that may or may not help:
My grandparents supposedly met and married in Egypt. My grandfather was a chef and therefore ended up in various places. He brought his bride (Katherine) to Greece, had a fight with his mother (Sophia), and left. They ended up in the USA. Their oldest child, a girl (Angelica), was born in 1915 in St. Augustine, FL. I believe the rest of the children, two boys and my mother (the youngest) were all born in NYC. My mother was definitely born there.
It was always my understanding that my grandmother was born in Egypt but such information is tenuous at best. Shoubra, a suburb of Cairo where they resided, was once a very elegant place (late 1800's/early 1900's). Many greeks were in Egypt due to the Ottoman occupation. I also know that my grandmother's mother was educated, holding a degree in midwifery. My grandmother was also educated, spoke five or seven languages, and was very creative.
I'll check with my mother to see if any of the history you provided rings a bell.

One more thing: I remember once seeing a picture I believe was Phillip Seville. Don't laugh but he looked like Nehru.

All the best,
Chris

Thank you so much for your email regarding your family of Sevilles. My father went by Phillip Seville and had a sister, name unknown to me. I have researched for eight years, and cannot find anything promissing. Your information is promising. My father's family, his mother and father left the USA (believe New Oreleans) is was a cotton merchant, imports/exports, and moved to Egypt around 1906. He and his sister came back to America, and I believe settled in NYC. My father and his sister had a falling out, and did not speak for many years, and this is why I don't know anything about his sister. Although, I thought she lived beyond that period. Phillip Seville's ancestry is has become less and less clear the more I dig! My father Anthony Phillip Seville said he was born Sept 19, 1900, but I have discovered he was born 1892. Also, that he served in WWI (one)by going to Canada, and they to Britian and servied in the Royal Air Corps as a bombadier, returing injured to Canada, and then back to the US. Also, in 1935 in was in Bermuda, and came to the USA again in April 1935.
Thank you so much for this information, for which I will continue to research. Any more info that you could send would be appreciated. Best regards, and good luck to you.
Christine.
My maternal grandmother had a brother who used the name Phillip Seville. This is a long shot but what the heck. My geneology is as folows...
...My maternal grandmother Katherine (Aikaterini) Levisianos, a Greek from Shoubra, Egypt, married my grandfather Michael Guiness (orig. Ghinis). He was from Kalivia, Greece. She died in NYC, December 1920, 1 1/2 months after giving birth to my mother. My mother remembers her maternal uncle, Anthony visiting a few times although he eventually lost touch with them. Please let me know if anything here ties to what you already know.
Good luck!

Will Seville, born abt 1870, lived in area near Cedar Rapids, IA

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Will Seville”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Washington (Washington Co.) IA, and photo is consistent with those taken in 1890-1895 time frame. Will looks to be about age 18-22 in the photo.

I could not find a William Seville in Washington Co., IA – however in a county a few miles away, I found a William Seville. He was in the 1880 census for Jackson (Jones Co.) IA, and this William was age 10, son of Michael and Ellen Seville. Each county is on the opposite side of Cedar Rapids – and since there is no other William Seville with matching age in Iowa, I feel sure these are one and the same.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to William Seville of east central Iowa.

Thank you for your information. I don't know very much about my father's family on the Greek side, but know the name was not very common and that there were few immigrants with this name during the 1800's. Although, I am looking for Christodoulu's that were in New Orleans, some of the people could have been in NY or other areas. Do you know any other the other names in your family there were married to Christodoulu? Also, these people were merchants in the cotton and import business during that period. Thank you for your email. Warm regards, Christine Seville Sherrer

Unfortunately the christodoulu's that I know of were not from New Orleans, but rather from Michigan. Christodoulu is the last name of my great grandfather, who moved to the states when he was a young man. Upon arriving he eventually had his name changes to Christy. Which is my mothers maiden name. The Greek side of my family are all from Sparta. Sorry... I know this obviously is no help, but just wanted to write this little note. Good luck on your quest for info...

They settled in Yorkshire after arriving, reputedly, from Anjou in France.

If I can be of any assistance on the other side of the pond, I will be only too pleased to help.

Malcolm James Seville

Hi,
I'm probably grabbing at straws but.......who knows, anything is possible. My name is Mary Seville, from Pennsylvania. I'm 50. My Father died in 1961. He was born in 1898 (I think)I really don't remember too much about him as I was very young when he died but I have been trying to find out any information about him for years now. His name was Hallie Arthurus Seville. An Uncle of mine from Phoenix on my Mothers side of the Family told me he thinks my Father had been married once before he married my Mother, which got me to thinking that maybe I had relatives out there somewhere I wasn't aware of, which would be great as I was an only child......as far as I know!!!!
