I know this has been a long time in responding. If you have Cornelius and Catherine in your data base, do you have birth places for either one? I have come to a road block. I did hear from Bill Healy letting me know Marguerite Shea Donovan had passed away on 12-11-2005. Genevieve Shea Healy had passed away on 8-24-2006. Any help would be a great heal. Thank you Kathy

PS It's possible the Cornelus may have live for a short time in Cambridge, I have not info on that.

My great great grandmother, Catherine M. Shea, was born in 1833 in County Longford, Ireland. She married Mr. (Michael)Lawler and they had a daughter, Elizabeth M., in 1872. (Michael) Lawler was an Irishman serving in India for the British military in the Bengal War. They immigrated from Ireland to Saratoga Springs, New York in 1885-6. I am looking for any information on the birth of Catherine M. Shea in County Longford, Ireland and her marriage to Mr. Lawler so that I can track the birth of Elizabeth.

IN MY FAMILY.. Daniel was married to Catharine Galvin and Patrick was his son. Daniel born 1810 -1866. Daniel's father was also a Patrick born in 1780. My great granfather is a Patrick and he was born in 1844-1880. He had catharine, emma, elizabeth, daniel, john, james mary. Look at my tree it is called Shea/Borthwick. It is open. Search Patrick James and follow that line and see if this is what you are looing for. I grew up in Worcester but live in CA now .. but we go back to Worcester as all my family is there.

Hi,

My name is Linda and I found your Oct. 2000 inquiry regarding John Shea who married Mary Diggins. They were both from Ireland and settled in Hillsborough, NH - I believe this is the same family that you are researching also. Please email me privately and we can compare notes. My email address is: lmangene@rcn.com

I think I found your Shea relatives. Daniel Shea was born Jan 14 1889 in Worcester. His parents were Daniel Shea Sr and Ellen Daly. Both parents were born in Ireland. Daniel Jr married Abbie Murphy Nov 10 1908 in Worcester. Her parents were John Murphy and Mary Cuff.
The Shea family listed in the last post by kathipinney are also my relatives but I cannot find a relation to your Shea's
I would be happy to mail you the birth and marriage records if you provide me with an address. You can email to me at djeansnow@roadrunner.com
Hope this was of some help
If you go this site, click on Europe, and you will find the Ireland, Civil Registration Indexes 1845-1958. You can search for her birth registration in Kenmare, There are several Hannah Shea and several Mary/Marie Shea ca 1903. That's what makes it difficult if you don't know an exact birth date and as you can see the registrations are done by quarter.

https://www.familysearch.org/

The private Tobin tree is mine. That's what I found on Colonel along with 1910 & 1920 census. He worked for the LI railroad that's on the marriage cert. I just can't find any info in 1930. I was told they had an infant Charles or John he died when he was only a few months old. Then my grandfather just left Hanna and my mother. My mom stay with different families while my grandmother worked so maybe she used her maiden name? I don't know it's a mystery.

Thank you, Mike for all your help and the birth registration link.

Rather confusing information. If she married in 1929, why would she be enumerated as Shea rather than Black in 1930 albeit I can't find a Colonel Black in NY in 1930? According to your private Tobin Tree, Colonel Black was born ca 1905 in Mississippi. There is a Colonel C. Black who was born in 1905 in Mississippi died in Conn. 1989 but according to my research he was married to one Stella Glister Black.

Civil registration in Ireland began ca 1884. Consequently, you can order a birth registration for Hannah from the General Register Office. See: http://www.groireland.ie/index.html.

Beyond that it doesn't appear I can be of any further help.

Mike
