I'm preparing a book which includes the family of Abram & Martha Laura (Newman) Shears of Niagara co., N. Y. Their son George N. moved to Cleveland co., Okla. (Norman area) prob. in the 1890's. Sons James & Charles, daughters Bertha and Nettie (w/o Albert Cox).

Looking for any information. I have lots to share too.

I am researching the Jacob & Samantha (Chapman) Shears family that lived in Niagara Co. NY, then Canada, and then in Port Huron Co. Michigan. Their children included: Ann Shears (m. Isaac Miller, m. Nelson Fox); Lucinda Shears (m. Cyrus Pringle); Charles Reuben Shears (m. Kathryn Cave, m. Martha J. Unknown, m. Bessie Engle); John Shears; twins Theadore Shars (m. Maggie Unknown, m. Elizabeth Margaret Bennett); Theadosia Shears (m. Lewis Potts); Edward Shears; Sheldon Shears; and Leroy James Shears (m. Mary Elizabeth Malyon). There may also have been three other daughters.

Any chance these are kin to your Shears family?

Last August my grandmother passed away and I inherited an old photo album. I so far cannot connect any of the photos to my family. Two of the photos are of "Mead" and "Dave" "Shears". These pictures are on card stock and look to be from the 1860s. Both men appear to be roughly 20 years old in the pictures.

My grandmother's family was from Wichita Kansas, Enid, Tulsa and Wewoka Oklahoma. It just seems like these photos should have some connection to your Shears family.

I would be glad to share the photos, Perhaps you can help me understand who these young men are?
