I'm looking for info on the children of James Sr. My grandfather was Lewis Shores b.1883 in Fulton County Ill. His mother ? died while he was young and he was raised by his grandmother Mary ,husband John killed Kennesaw Mtn in 1865. John's son was I believe William S. Shores, my grandfathers' dad.
I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Paul Demond Shores – one year old May 12, 1902”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Northampton (Hampshire Co.) MA.

I found Paul Shores in SSDI, with birthdate 12 May 1901; he died Dec 1984 and was last of Franklin Co., MA. 1910 Northampton, MA census shows Paul D., age 8, son of Harvey Shores (41) and wife Mabel (40). All three were in the same location for the 1920 census. By 1930, Paul D. (age 28) was living in Bernardston (Franklin Co.) MA with wife Carolyn L. (26) and son William H. (2).

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to this family.

I believe our two families are connected. I'm from David Shores 1801 - 1854 who lived near John Shores in 1840 and 1850 Randolph County, IN. I agree John didn't die till later I found him living with daughter in later census. But I don't have it in front of me at this time. David Harty later marries Elizabeth Curry who is David Shores daughter. Both David and John name their oldest child William too!

I've just begun a search for Shores ancestry. My grandfather is Benjamen Lee Shores and his mother was Fannie Paten. They both died in Georgia. Think his father was David Shores but cannot find info on him yet. I am searching for the Cherokee blood also. My grandfather was originally from Missouri DOB 1892. The Native American blood is strong in him and his children so believe he was half-Cherokee.

Actually there are at least two tribes and possibly more within the Shores family just within the last 150 years. While your grandmother may have been Cherokee, my gg-uncle Andrew Jackson Shores married his cousin's(Jonathan Shores) daughter, Jane Shores, who was half Mohawk. Jonathan's wife, Lucy Wilkerson was full Mohawk Indian. Not everyone in Tennessee was fighting the native american people in the early 18th century:)

Shores and was born in Macon Co. Tennessee.
William T Shores married Malinda E. Travelstead (Travelstreet,Treffenstate) in 1870. I believe William's mother may have been named Sarah / Sary (1860 census). I cannot find anything about his father.

I am at a dead end in trying to go back farther with this line. I know that William T. Shores is buried at Rough Creek Baptist Church 4-6 miles south of Scottsville, KY (unmarked grave to my knowledge--I couldn't find it!)

All my work has been through Ancestry.com as I am 8 hours away from Allen Co. KY and TN paper records!

I'd appreciate any help on this line!
Tamara

Hello,I just read your post on "rootsweb" and was surprised to find that I live in the home your grandparents once lived in. My name is Bill Tilson and I live in "TILSON HOLLOW,CHILHOWIE." I knew Elmer and Rosie right well. Elmer was a farmer working for my grandfather. The old homeplace looks very much as you would remember it. Lots of memories, especially rosie's choclate fudge.
